So Chryslers are 35% Fiats now

I only remembered the crappy Fiats of the past in the US, turns out that they are very nicely designed these days. And why: I guess maybe because they own Alfa Romeo, whose car designs are just awesome. (And they also own Ferrari. Yeah, Ferraris are Fiats now. And Maserati too.)

Here's the interior of the Alfa Romeo "8C Competizione" for example. Awesome:

Oh sure, you say, that's their most expensive model, one of the finest Italian sports cars available. OK then, here's the Fiat 500 which seems to be their low-end. Not too shabby:

Just fire all the designers at Chrysler and let the Italians do the job.

I remember them for the Opal, which I think they owned. What a piece of crap that was. My brother bought one new in the 70's and it never ran. I suspect they have improved their quality control.

Opel? That is GM.

Fiat is no longer the company it was 26 years ago when Spiders would routinely disintegrate their rear ends, or mysteriously burn out bearings.

Fiat tried to work with Opel to help develop their new multi air port (or whatever it is called) engine. Those engines and Fiats in general will not be in Chrysler dealers for maybe two years. Fiat will have their hands full trying to fix a company so perverted by MBA school principles.

However the time to buy is ripe. For weeks, rumors were that Fiat also wanted to buy Opel, Saab, and GM's British company Vauxhall. I don't know how. But Marchionne may be that aggressive now that Fiat makes good cars and now that America must sell itself off to pay for "Mission Accomplished" and other 'business school' fiascos.

We had a Fiat back in the 70s and so did my brother. I loved those cars... both of them. They were just so damn much fun to drive! I learned how to drive a stick in my brother's Fiat.
