The texture of the white looks natural rather than man made. It is tool small to be tool marks, and too organic looking. It does somewhat resemble the texture of clothes line, but it must be smaller. The red looks like wool, but single ply yarn and two wraps of it.
I can't imagine what might make that texture on the white stuff. Reminds me of those cactus trunks that they make rainmakers from.
