Kind of reminds me of an old shutter release timer on an SLR camera, so it's probably an interior latch from a suitcase.

I know this one. I have this camera.

It's the shutter release on a Kodak Duaflex II camera, but your model is slightly different from this one I found online. It has small decorative ridges in the metal.
