I used to watch friends, sometimes, back when it was on, but I don't know who my character is.
Funny show but they jumped the shark with all the inter-character dating/marriages imo.

It's a very common American expression--refers to when a long-running television show officially loses whatever quality it once had and devolves into stupidity. It comes from an episode of Happy Days where Fonzi enters a waterskiing competition and he must jump over a live shark.

Well, this is the first time I've ever said this...
...I wish I'd ever seen "Friends". At least I'd know who the hell Gunther was.

There are those who believe the expression "jumped the shark" has, itself, jumped the shark.

I've seen shows go off worse deep ends, but yeah...some of it got pretty played out towards the end. Early Monica opposed to Later Monica, for example. She got so darn whiny with Chandler. I liked her as the smart-ass sarcastic (hence, me.) I posted in the Indy Jones thread that many people are now using "Nuking the fridge" as opposed to the shark reference. Quote:
Last night (yes I"m a very boring person) I was thinking about this and thought "damn...I need a part for Dana." Then I realized I forgot about Ursula. Ursula for Dana because she's unflappable and calm.

I bet it was pretty hard to pick up girls if you had the Black Death.
