October 27, 2008: Scotoplanes

Quote:
Sea Pig or by its scientific name, Scotoplane, is a wacky little creature. It usually inhabits the sea beds and feeds on the mud, taking in the organic materials settled there for nutrition.
Translation; they eat the poop of every other creature in the sea... and probably their own.

Quote:
Despite the gross little tentacles and the various suckers, some people find it absolutely adorable. But given the actual lack of any cuteness, it's placed number 5 on our list.
The "list" is the "Top Six Ugliest Animals on Mother Earth", which you can see here.

Big ass spiders, electrocuted cows, poop eaters, I'll be glad when this election is over. :haha"

I guess to one scotoplane, another scotoplane could be very beautiful. But not to me, those things are ugly, although in a practical kind of way.

Follow Bruce's link. Ali, does number six look like Russ Hinze to you??

P.S. I see Jesus upside-down in the monkfish's mouth.

The naked mole rat. The only predator masculine enough to hunt the vagina dentata.

Imaging *being* the Naked Mole Rat. Not only do you have an identity crisis (am I a mole or am I a rat) you also have to deal with being NAKED all the time! Hmm....maybe that wouldn't be so bad......

Actually they remind me of something out of Japanese animation. I could see them as Pokemon. And yes, I do find them quite cute.
Bless them, toiling away, benefiting the sea, minding their own business. Then hauled into an alien environment so they can be photographed and called ugly.

Poor babies.

When I saw the rubber gloves holding them, it looked like a surgeon holding human organs - kidneys or really large testicles.

It's a septic treatment unit for the sea! How useful.
