We are both settled in our current lives, he doesnt want to get attached to the boys, doesnt want his boys to get attached to us, doesnt want to drag me and the boys away from their support network etc etc.

Look, honestly, he's a REALLY nice guy, and not the wanker type that I usually go for, so his intentions are actually thinking of both our best interests (which are exactly the things that I was stressing about).

This was just supposed to be a casual thing and somewhere along the line it got a bit serious.

I missed the whole "getting serious and changing my life" development stage of the story, but it all sounds pretty hurtful.
