Does this image of Japan's emperor look a bit strange?

From today's NY Times on the Japanese earthquake.

This is weird, his head looks abnormally large for his body. Well, maybe emperors possess larger then normal brains for all of those things they have to do.

Wow. That's an amateurishly bad photoshop effort.

He's anime.

Looks like a combination of him already having a big, round head, and he sticks his head out in front of his body towards the camera. Look at his neck its almost horizontal.

No. He definitely has a pumpkin head. But the op picture looks a little too sharply defined around the head. Maybe it's the field of focus (right term?) but his face looks sharply in focus, his suit doesn't.

Maybe, like all good imperial families, they engage in the fine art of inbreeding.

Well his head may be larger then normal but he sure can pick nice tie and matching pocket square combinations!

Well, wasn't it in the Peace Accords from WWII that the Japanese Emperor would furthermore be a figurehead?

I keep expecting his head to bobble in that first pic. It is freaking huge.

It is often thought that Asians and especially Japanese have heads larger in proportion to their bodies than others.

When I was in Japan I had to buy a hat, and the "small" size was the only fit.

But even allowing for this, he looks out of proportion.
