Level3 vs. Cognet

Wondering why you can't access certain sites, today? Here's why.

Today in an ugly feud, level3 one of the largest Internet backbones cut off a direct peering connection with Cogent Communications another Internet backbone.

What effect does this have? Well, I can't access about 1/4 of the sites I should be able to from home and Tampa General Hospital can't access USF Medical, anymore, leading to many problems with Tampa's only trauma center. What a stupid, petty squabble.

The guy who's VOIP stopped working gives me yet another failure mode to throw in when people ask me the disadvantages of VOIP vs Telcos.
