May 22, 2012 - Splash

From a TwistedSifter entry titled 21 Mind-Blowing Photos Capture the Exact Moment of Impact, photo images by Alan Sailer.

These are phenomenal images. Definitely worth taking the time to scroll through.

The descriptions of the images are below the images on their Flickr page.

After looking at the primer shots I decided to try this.

A brass rod, flattened on a belt sander and shot with a pointy pellet.

This was an early shot in a series and I was amazed at how different each shot was. Don't know why.

The rest of the evening was failed shots. Cornstarch in Christmas globes. Tiny purple onions.

And the worst of the worst of the most horrible cleanup shots, corn syrup in a Christmas globe.

Horrible.

I'm walking around the house with my shoes sticking to the floor.

But I do like this one shot.

that's pretty cool how solid metal looks like a liquid. I suppose it is a liquid at that moment.

Wow!

The full set has amazing pictures. This guy has a great mix of artistry, ingenuity, and just the right kind of madness.

A CHOCOLATE bunny! The bastard shot a CHOCOLATE bunny!

BigV  Wednesday May 23 10:28 AM

Isn't that more humane that just eating them alive?

Not at all, wasn't there a mock turtle from The Restaurant at the End of the Universe that wanted to get eaten? Chocolate bunnies are the same way. They exist only to be eaten. It would be cruel to deny them.

But you existed only to be eaten and now you are discontinued so you don't really exist do you but then how do you post? Get it? Post? Were ToastyOhs Post? Or Kelloggs.

Folks we have a product placement spammer here!

I find it a little annoying that it states that these shots are at the "Exact moment of impact" when they are obviously a long time after impact.

Exact moment of impact is... the exact moment of impact, the bullet face touching the object.

Is it too hard to say something truthful? Like, "At the moment of complete destruction". Or, "At the moment of maximum energy transfer".

Spoze I'm being picky but I grieve at the continual dumbing of America.

xoxoxoBruce  Thursday May 24 11:01 AM

Depends on how long a moment is, doesn't it?
