glatt 03-20-2013 09:02 PM

Finally! Now I can play one.

St. John's Wood

*snicker*

jimhelm 03-20-2013 10:22 PM

Lol. You should have waited until morning for that one!

DanaC 03-21-2013 02:25 AM

Well, we have already had Cockfosters...twice!

limey 03-21-2013 03:04 AM

With a nod to the west ... (Port) Richmond!

Gravdigr 03-22-2013 04:58 PM

*snort* As if.

Richmond, pfft.

DanaC 03-22-2013 05:01 PM

Get those dogs baying, and take a step to the left, it's Hounslow!

(where I'll be on the 8th of next month :P)

footfootfoot 03-22-2013 09:28 PM

Hounslow?
Sweet Chariot

jimhelm 03-22-2013 10:56 PM

Comin for to carry me.....

To Ogelsby Pincushion.

Sundae 03-23-2013 07:34 AM

Jim you sweetie.
You left that one wide open.
Am happy to slide in with Hatton Cross.

And yes, you can leave your hat on...

footfootfoot 03-23-2013 12:55 PM

...They don't know what love is
Yeah, I know what love is...

Cockfosters

jimhelm 03-23-2013 01:27 PM

And that's that.

Mornington Crescent.

That almost felt like cheating, foot.

3 cock fosters in one game. Never seen it before.

But then Blankenship's rule is only a decade or so old....

Who's next?

There was this one time, in band camp...

jimhelm 03-23-2013 02:17 PM

You just got a lot sexier

footfootfoot 03-23-2013 03:32 PM

Not possible, is it?

Dana, were you able to place them permanently?

CzinZumerzet 03-28-2013 01:59 PM

Spitalfields, and lets remember we are 21st century players, and (cant believe this is happening twice..) clocks spring forward this weekend.

I repeat, SPITALFIELDS and the clue to progression..? Mount Pleasant. HA!

limey 03-28-2013 02:46 PM

I was at the fabled station just ten minutes ago and didn't see you there, Jim. Didn't alight though.

Anyway, I was dressed as a tall asian woman. You probably wouldn't have recognized me anyway.

My math says you posted that around midnight your time, Limey. It's only 10pm here, so..... Mornington crescent :p: I win!

Sundae 03-29-2013 04:29 AM

Limey dahling that's lovely.

But what I really want is a photo of one of the Lost Stations of the Underground.
Yes, I know you can't get one from a Tube - they're dark. They're lost after all.
Neil Gaiman makes wonderful use of them in various short stories.

When I win the Lottery... :blah: ... I will organise a Dwellar party in London's original cellar. How's an abandoned Tube platform for the setting of a great horror movie? When few of us really know eachother IRL? And that lovely charismatic guy/ girl who joins just in time to join the party?

You seen Creep, right? Not a great film, but for those of us who've taken the last Tube home it has resonance. Specially if you look like Franka Potente, like what I do.

PS - Unfair use of time difference there Monster.
You're sentenced to a round of the Circle Line.

DanaC 03-29-2013 05:05 AM

...Did I just catch sight of Caz zooming through Spitalfields?

CzinZumerzet 03-29-2013 06:28 AM

Yup you did Dana, sweaty face pressed up against the window of a Northern Line train in the rush hour as it whistles through Mornington Crescent and some of those crushed in alongside think '...oh thats that place ...'

Oh again!! Just as I typed that someone on the radio announced Richard Griffiths death, the wonderful teacher on the moped in The History Boys and all the other great parts. Oh.

monster 10-20-2020 09:38 AM

Well I believe we might have time for one more round, so I'll start us off with Tooting Broadway. Open season, all established variations may be played except the Chumley-Warner.

Is this aimed at me? I'm upset that you would go there. I'm going to have to sit this round out if you are excluding Chumley.

monster 10-20-2020 11:16 AM

yes, well, you should never have attempted the Wimbledon reverse maneuver when poor old CF was trying to change lines carrying his bike -not cricket at all.

Undertoad 10-20-2020 12:35 PM

I will play Barking for olde tyme's sake, remembering the reindeer games we used to play

I was formerly unaware of the Belle and Sebastian song "Mornington Crescent" which is excellent

limey 10-20-2020 04:14 PM

Hainault, via Newbury Park.

Good times.

I miss Herbie and Yukon Cornelius.

Next time we're up that way, I'll be sure to drop a North poke Station in.

For now, though, Chalk Bottom will have to do.

Carruthers 10-21-2020 04:53 AM

In that case...

Hampton Court. (Which is not as painful as it sounds).

monster 10-21-2020 08:06 AM

I thought you had me for a moment there, but after a cuppa I realized..... I could "just say no" with Grange Hill!

Carruthers 10-21-2020 09:18 AM

I didn't see that one coming. You play a mean game ma'am.

I was saving this for later, but needs must...

Baker Street. (Circle Line - Westbound, that is).

Undertoad 10-21-2020 09:45 AM

I'm not sure "Westbound" is legal, it's certainly not moral; but I'm not going to argue it, because it makes this counter move possible: London Bridge.

monster 10-21-2020 01:50 PM

 hmmm..... I need to go do some research

In that case Arnos Grove is wild so I play...

Shadwell.

Well, it's only fair. How else could I follow London Bridge without the possibility of getting into Nidd?

monster 10-21-2020 06:17 PM

Of Course! Shadwell/Knightsbridge conversion: Piccadilly Circus

Carruthers 10-22-2020 09:20 AM

Tricky.

I have no option but to play Renshaw's Gambit, in the vain hope I don't get stuck in the Dollis Hill loop for all eternity.

Anyway, here goes:

Chalfont & Latimer

footfootfoot 10-22-2020 09:38 AM

Copley Studge

monster 10-22-2020 10:57 AM

dirty! Dollis Hill (sorry Caruthers, but there are a couple of possible exit routes I see, as long as you don't mind the tea in first, so to speak)

Carruthers 10-22-2020 02:39 PM

Neasden

Undertoad 10-22-2020 02:54 PM

footer should be DQd according to chapter 3 of the Brooks Simplified Handbook; and I feel he should be banned from the site, but this time I'll make it the Moderators' call.

Undertoad 10-22-2020 02:54 PM

Oh and bloody Hounslow Central, if that wasn't way too obvious

monster 10-22-2020 03:15 PM

let's just send him to Coventrycoventrycoventry. Which makes me want to play Covent Garden, which I think I can get away with because of that earlier Hampton Court...

Carruthers 10-22-2020 03:22 PM

A fair point, monster, which forces me to go out on a limb with...

Becontree.

Something of a rash move I know, but it's Thursday and therefore legal if not all that ethical.

If Samantha were here she’d have something to say.
Probably

I'm surprised that Mrs Trellis of North Wales hasn't commented yet.

Ah, sod it! Embankment. Sorry, Carruthers

Carruthers 10-24-2020 04:54 PM

Embankment and Mornington Crescent are both on the Northern Line, but as the former is also on the Bakerloo Planck's Variable comes into play. Under the circumstances I'm forced to go for...

Rayner's Lane.

Planck should have called it a day after he sorted out his constant.

footfootfoot 10-24-2020 05:08 PM

Wicket's Encroachment

monster 10-24-2020 06:36 PM

It's always the yanks isn't it? Embankment again......
