Stick a fork in this week. I'm outta here!

Cicero 11-02-2007 06:20 PM

Yea! We're outta here!!!

DucksNuts 11-03-2007 03:56 AM

Rain.

Like real RAIN!

Oh n I am on the way to pissed :D

Aliantha 11-03-2007 04:04 AM

I heard today that the Murray is now lower than sea level on average. That's very bad news.

DucksNuts 11-03-2007 04:17 AM

We went to a market on the Murray today, you can walk across it in so many places....its weird.

Its nearly fucked in South Australia

Aliantha 11-03-2007 04:18 AM

what do you think about this new water plan?

DucksNuts 11-03-2007 04:21 AM

You mean the pipe to Melbourne?

I want more data before I decide. I think a lot of people are making decisions half cocked at the moment.

Aliantha 11-03-2007 04:24 AM

Well the whole idea of the murray darling being taken over federally to try and solve the water crisis. I know some people are dead set against it, but they're mostly the ones taking out further upstream in northern nsw and southern qld.

Ultimately I think it should have been done a long time ago.

There's water in the Condomine atm, so if we can just get a bit more rain it might make it downstream anyway.

DucksNuts 11-03-2007 04:38 AM

Oh, we are really focussed on the Sugarloaf Pipeline at the moment.

Plug the pipe are making a lot of noise

I have no probs with the Murray Darling

Elspode 11-04-2007 12:11 AM

I am happy that I was able to spend a couple of pleasant hours visiting with the woman with whom I most want to once again be intimate in the not too distant future (apart from my wife, of course, with whom I want to be intimate again as soon as she returns home tomorrow from her trip out of town). I was encouraged to find out that said woman has gone from "no more frolicking with married men, even those who have permission from their wives" to "it might not be out of the question" since we last spoke at length.

She was my correspondent in the polyamory foray Selene and I made almost six years ago now. We hit it off very well then, and have remained good friends. She is highly desired by me both physically and intellectually, and she seems to once again be returning that vibe. Makes me happy, despite absence of intimacy this evening when she called me and asked if she could drop by.

Cool.

Aliantha 11-04-2007 12:34 AM

Dazza is home!

All moved. Too nice (for now) to "christen" but the other moist important piece definitely was. Great friends, good cheese and wine, lots of sore muscles.

PICTURES. Or we may have to ..... um .... do something nasty to you....

glatt 11-05-2007 09:08 AM

I'm still happy from replacing the disc brake pads on my car myself yesterday (first time to do that,) and not one thing went wrong. Something always goes wrong when I'm doing a project, but not this time. Test drove the car and the brakes work flawlessly. Saved a few hundred bucks and even got better brake pads than I would have if I paid a garage to do it. Only took two hours. :D

Sundae 11-05-2007 09:13 AM

I'm happy because HM's brother is here on a visit and he is good company.

I'm very unhappy (yes I know, should be in the other thread) because I have waited in all day for a call. Unless it comes in the next 40 minutes I won't be able to go to the gym. It's an initial telephone assessment for free counselling so I don't have much right to complain - just that sitting round doing very little for 6 hours makes me antsy. At least I've had company is how I tie the two together.

Clodfobble 11-05-2007 02:01 PM

Jon Stewart has promised* to keep paying the salaries of all the crew members of both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report for at least the next two weeks while the writers are on strike.

*Maybe--one source from inside the show is adamant that it is true, while his PR rep says it is false. But he would need to keep it on the down-low to avoid being accused by fellow unionized producers of supporting the strike, so I choose to believe it is true.

Razzmatazz13 11-05-2007 03:24 PM

I'm heading out for my first try at the knitting circle I found...wish me luck! :)

Sundae 11-05-2007 03:29 PM

Good luck!

Make one of these for Wolf, not one of these.
(From the WTF thread, pretty safe)

Click the Susquehanna county house link.

I'll be the chubby dot on the lower left steadying the last bent as the crane lifts it.

LabRat 11-06-2007 09:10 AM

Both Red and I got up this morning to work out. He went to the gym that he just joined. I went downstairs and was able to run without a hint of a wheeze or cough, yessssssssssss!!! It felt soooo good.

::happy dance, happy dance::

Probably I is stupid, but I can't find the flipping Susquwhatsit link.

ZenGum 11-06-2007 09:18 AM

Great news, Labrat!
Don't overdo it though ... go easy for a while.
Meh I'm sure you know that already.
:)

Sundae 11-06-2007 09:22 AM

Griff I found the link, but wasn't sure which you were.
It interested me anyway. We have a programme over here called Grand Designs where people build unusual houses, often involving much personal work.

There was one repeated quite recently about a man building a timber frame house in a forest. Here's the link, I don't know if you have to download a player before seeing it.

Drax 11-06-2007 01:35 PM

Well, after worrying about all weekend since my doctor couldn't reach me Friday, and I couldn't reach him yesterday, he called me today about my blood test. He said my cholesterol level, and liver looked fine.

It's about damn time.

Judging by the clothing, I think the two on the left have been fencing with the foil, and with that weapon, the target area include the "bits". Well, torso down to the point of the groin. The silver shirt of the guy on the left exactly defines it. So maybe they're feeling a bit tender.

Clodfobble 11-06-2007 10:43 PM

Congrats to your daughter, Griff!

BigV 11-06-2007 11:17 PM

Thanks all!

Great start Case!
I've never had to kick tobacco, but I've watched friends do it. After three weeks you've pretty much licked it. Until then, count your days and write them on a page on the wall by your bed or something. Aim at just making it to 21 ... and from there you can cruise. A friend used this and he said it helped.
Be strong!

kerosene 11-08-2007 10:50 AM

Thanks, Zen. I got me a free patch and a lot of support. Been smoking for about 12 years, now...done, I tell ya. Just fucking done.

jinx 11-08-2007 10:57 AM

That's great case. It feels so good to not be addicted, you're gonna love it.

kerosene 11-08-2007 11:18 AM

Thanks, jinx. I am looking forward to not smelling like smoke. Hot pictures, btw. ;)

HungLikeJesus 11-08-2007 11:58 AM

case - now that you gave up smoking, we should meet for lunch.

Sundae 11-08-2007 01:20 PM

Just read your news Griff - that is one talented daughter you're raising there, congratulations!

This is a bit late but is still making me happy - I've lost another half stone (7lbs).
Which means just over two stone (28lbs) since I moved here. Yay me!

Shawnee123 11-08-2007 01:22 PM

Excellent SG! That's really great progress!:cheerldr:

Clodfobble 11-08-2007 02:23 PM

Congrats, Sundae! Keep up the good work!

HungLikeJesus 11-08-2007 02:39 PM

Point of order:
When I come to the Cellar, I always come in through the User Control Panel, which shows all of my subscribed threads. It's like visiting a friend's house and having your own private entrance.

I open each thread in a new tab, and I always save this thread (What's making you happy today?) for last.

The Cellar is a meal; this thread is dessert.

So the Happy thread is making me happy. It's recursive.

Thanks Cloud.

Wow!!! Congratulations. You are a new woman. Happy clothes shopping!

What's making me happy today: BigV and I are shopping for new rings. How can you not be happy with a new diamond?

kerosene 11-08-2007 04:54 PM

Congratulations, Sundae! What an accomplishment!

That's wonderful for you, Tink!

So many things to be happy about. :D

Now, HLJ...where are we going for lunch? I don't stink anymore.

Sundae 11-08-2007 04:56 PM

Thanks for the congrats, all. It's been easier than I ever hoped.

kerosene 11-08-2007 05:32 PM

Still cigaretteless. Chewing sugar free gum all day.

My friend from beijing who i havent seen in like two years is coming to taipei on wednesday for a theatre arts synopsium thing. I'm trying to work it out so he can room at my place - I've already volunteered to host people, so it should work out fine.

Sounds like an opportunity to expand your social circle. Don't focus entirely on the visitors from O/S, but in the mix at the symopsium will be plenty of locals.
"Hey I'm taking my friend from Beijing out tonight .. want to come along and help us have fun?"

Ibby 11-09-2007 07:54 AM

No locals; only like five or so people from my school are doing it, and nobody from any other on-island school is participating. It's sad.
However, a girl is also rooming with us which leaves open the chance for at least a petty hookup maybe? And hey, i still might meet someone cool in the half-week theyre here, i suppose, ahaha.

jester 11-09-2007 10:32 AM

Great Job - SG

LabRat 11-09-2007 10:57 AM

Awesome job, SG!! Keep it up!

Tink, new rings to celebrate a new beginning? Neat.

case, both of my parents were smokers, I've seen how hard it is to quit. Very good. Do whatever it takes.
