Hell to the YES! It's going to be 90 with 2,000 % humidity by friday. Oh yes, that's what I said. 2,000 %. and if you don't believe me, you've never been to Ohio in the summer. It sucks, sucks, sucks sucks. (that last one was for emphasis). It feels like fooking Tehran or Vietnam or any other 'am you can come up with. Wilting, ass-itching, drenching weather. I shall keep my home at a respectable 65 degrees until December when I'll just open up the windows. Oh, cost? 3400. yikes. |

Yea, I got the big seat in the back for me.:D Oh, and a nice back rest. :D |
I'd just like to say that the savage hunter is currently kipping on the pile of spare bedding in the corner of this room (the spare room).
He wants kipski, and he knows he won't get it on my lap while I'm online. Doesn't stop him being on here during the day - just that he's more serious gone 20.00. But he won't go into my room, given the choice. Noooooo, he's gotta be spitting distance. Feeling much love for the babba today. And it is making me happy. OH! Almost forgot to say - got my prepaid credit card through today! Immediately went to Tesco to try it out. Well.... No really, I need the exercise (walk to big Tesco - 1 hour 15 min round trip) and I had to load the card with credit to activate it. I spent less than £10, on things I needed anyway. Really needed I mean, not hair-dye & pizza. It was SO exciting, putting my card in the slot and entering my PIN number. They didn't have chip & pin last time I had a card. |
I've been letting Gaines out at night. I wake up a few times a night anyway, and check the door to see if he's back yet. I don't know what he's doing out there, but I hope he doesn't try to catch the big snapping turtle I keep seeing around.

An old school friend got in touch :) havent spoken in years and years. Good ol' Facebook:P
She sounds really happy. Working freelance as a designer (she always was an arty bugger *chuckles*) married with a gorgeous 3 year old son. She wants to get together (with a couple of other old schoolies) for a drink. Sounds like a plan! Just need to sort out overnight arrangements as they're all still on the other side of the Pennines. Also heard (again Facebook) from my old Maths teacher. He's retired now and about to be a Grandad for the first time. Bad arthritis, but other than thathe sounds pretty chilled with life. He's been rebuilding classic motors. *Smiles* He used to terrorise the class....but I babysat his kid, so I knew he was a pussycat really lol. Got mega kudos for not being scared of him :P |
Very cool, Dana.
I babysat for two different teachers' kids. My mom showed me a picture (from the Strawberry Festival!) in the newspaper of little red-headed girl triplets (maybe two years old, a little less?) who are the children of one of those little kids I used to babysit! What? :) |
Oh dont. lol. J's kid sister has her 18th next month....I remember her naming ceremony.
Pending confirmation from the Arts and Humanities Research Council, I have been selected by the School of History as one of their four candidates for a full fees and full maintenance grant scholarship. This the one. The Biggie. I am so pleased.
:jig: :jig: :jig:
Way to go, Dana! That excellent!
I am sooooo happy. Soooo fucking happy. There was a lot of competition for those four nominations.
outstanding - congrats!
Tankee:) :) :)
Oh crikey, Dana! Well bloody done, mate!
Thankyou:)
I am now all fired up for my research again. Just been checking out some secondary source materials to gen up on military structures and so forth. I did a module last year on it, but really need a more technical bent now. Fortunately my MA supervisor is still around (hasnt gone off for his hols yet) and he has some belting suggestions. Also been mucking about at the national Archives site. Seems most of the records I need are down at Kew, so may have to wait til I can get down there for a research trip. Got some excellent 18th C newspaper notices of deserters online though. (of course this is less helpful for catching up on my dayjob work...lol) |
Dani that's amazing, and goes to confirm what we all know about you - you're a true scholar.
Big cheers and a round of applause. Well done, Dana.
Way to go Dana!!!
Awesome Dana! Wooohooooo!!!!
Thanks guys:) You were the first people I told:)
Small beer compared to yours, but I've just found the missing tape measure.
Yay! Diz must have batted it under the printer, can't imagine how it ended up there otherwise. Its inexplicable disappearance has been puzzling me for DAYS! |
lol oh I totally get that. Nothing winds me up more than losing stuff. I obsess for weeks sometimes until I find it.

Really? That's awesome. No having to prove it wasnt 'of merchantable quality'?
Yeah, with some exceptions, most stores here take returns pretty liberally.
I found some sleeping aids that should help little Max.

My stepmom used to do clothes for me that way when I was a kid, because I hated shopping. She'd go pick out ten dresses, bring them home for me to try on, and return 8-9 of them the next day.
it works.
It's a nice strategy if it works. If we did that with my daughter we'd be taking all 10 of them back!
I turned down the bike today.
Why what did it propose?
It proposed nothing. The dealer, however, proposed that I take it home.
why does that make you happy?
Because they didn't make troll bikes. They are all way to big for my short boney legs. And besides, they didn't come with billy goat trailers.
lol...now that's funny! Billy goat trailers...HA!
I just made a reservation at this restaurant for dinner on Saturday night and we'll be going to this bar for cocktails beforehand.
We're having a girls night, and a couple of us are staying in the city overnight. It'll be the first time I've been away from Max for more than 3 hours since he was born. I think I'll miss him a lot. |
Sorry I'm so late to the party, but wow! Congratulations, Dana!
Thanks Pie :)
Oh and you'll have a good time Ali. You probabl will miss him...but you'll still have a lovely time with the gang:) |
It'll be good to get away for a little while, I bet, Ali.
What time should I be there? ;) |
Oh oh oh! I've been summoned for jury duty *hops up and down* I feel like a proper citizen!
They are installing my central air RIGHT NOW!
Cool beans!
and not a moment too soon.
Air conditioning is the finest invention ever known to mankind.
Leaving for Las Vegas in the am for National Rugby Tourny. Not looking forward to the plane flight or the heat.
Not much call for it around here ;) Central heating....now that's a gift from the Gods!

Jealous of the jury duty, Dana.
I've been called up once, and it was for the week I was scheduled to move from London to Leicester. I've wanted to serve since I was 16! Happy tonight - Psychoville starts. 22.00 on BBC2 for those able to watch. Okay, I've already seen it, but I get to record it this time, and rewatch and rewatch when the 'rents go away next week. Alo,o my pottery class soothed me today. I was dreaded this Thursday and yet I left counselling (morning) and pottery (afternoon) in a better state than I went in. I think I'd like to continue this when my OT weeks are done. It's not on next week. And my councellor is off too (although I'm having a fill-in session with someone there I've spoken to before). So after feeling the gloom of Thursday approaching all week, I am disappointed it's not happening next week! Still, it should make me look forward to the week after more. I'm going to be doing painting :) |
As the whore said to the virgin, "IT'S IN!"
I'm not turning this baby off till there's frost on my windows. |
