That's just your post-milleniational come-down. :comfort: You'll be right.

Did you hear about the man who didn't pay his exorcism bill?

He got repossessed.

Shawnee123 11-09-2007 11:58 AM

Today, Cicero makes me happy. :)

So does this.

Thank you, Dana. Be gentle on yourself about it. :)

monster 11-09-2007 08:46 PM

Just got some bargain 2nd hand skates for my daughter. No creasing, no internal wear, blades perfect for her level... new cost $450+ second hand should cost $120+ my bargain $13. And from a sports resale shop. :D

Good friends and comrades.

Sundae 11-10-2007 01:53 PM

I bought some cut price sirloin steak yesterday, with the intention of eating it tonight when HM was out - I eat it rare so I need absolute silence for my timing ;)

I thought it was one big-ass piece, but found out tonight it was two smaller ones. So 1) I didn't eat as many calories/ fat as I had expected and 2) I have another piece of steak which I will freeze until the red meat urge comes upon me again.

Okay it was medium in the end because I foolishly believed Somerfield's cooking instructions and not my own, but it was GORGEOUS nonetheless.

AND I managed to work out what I was hearing from the kitchen before Diz managed to start licking the low fat garlic butter off the leftover new potatoes on the counter.

Razzmatazz13 11-10-2007 03:49 PM

Oh yeah, I'm totally moving in with you.

Aliantha 11-10-2007 03:50 PM

Well hurry up then Razz. lol (you did mean me didn't you?) ;)

Razzmatazz13 11-10-2007 03:54 PM

Yes you, but you'll have to wait until I get a passport and I suppose I'll need citizenship too...and a aussie-american dictionary. *starts making travel list*

Aliantha 11-10-2007 04:08 PM

haha...there's not that much difference you know. It's just that you'll need to learn how to relax if you come to live here. All we do is sit around in the sun drinking beer you know. ;)

slang 11-11-2007 07:57 AM

The city waterworks have been effing around with installing new water lines and meters for months now.

As I walk through the barangays lately though, it seems that they are all done breaking up the roads and killing the water pressure for our homes. :)

What is making me happy today is enough water pressure to run the shower head instead of using a plastic bucket to shower.

:celebrat: :thankyou: :celebrat: :thankyou: Yeah! Manila water works! :celebrat: :thankyou: :celebrat: :thankyou:

It's the little things that make me happy. ;)

zippyt 11-11-2007 01:12 PM

Nice boat Ali !!

Sundae 11-11-2007 01:48 PM

I took some frozen veg out of the freezer earlier this evening.
To go with my second piece of sirloin steak this week (happy number one)
And I could pull the drawer out easily thanks to the defrosting I did earlier today (happy number two)
And I cooked it for less time today, so it really was rare (happy number three)

I am thrice blessed!

DanaC 11-11-2007 02:18 PM

What's making me happy today?...

Doesn't matter how I'm feelin or what the weather is like, the view of the town from above, nestled into the bowl between the hills, with the Pennines stretching off into the distance, behind. Always makes me feel good. Oh yeah.....and watching Pilau gambolling about like a yearling:P

Sundae 11-11-2007 02:28 PM

I am coming to visit you, you know.
I want to walk in your landscape and feel the wind in my hair.

And maybe tidy your house. Not saying it needs it, but I have to reciprocate somehow. Naaaaaw, will just try and write you something for Christmas ;)

Beautiful, beautiful country.

DanaC 11-11-2007 02:29 PM

Despite the change in light btw, both pics were taken on the same walk. This afternoon.

*grins* you'd love it up here. It's exhilarating being so close to the sky.

One of these days we'll have to sort out a visit. Though...given tiny dolls-house sofa it'd be an inflatable mattress on the floor :P

see look how tiny the sofa is compared to the dog:

Razzmatazz13 11-11-2007 05:14 PM

Ah! *dies of cuteness overdose in that photo*

bluecuracao 11-12-2007 03:13 PM

We just found out today that MB's been hired for a job. Now he's celebrating by making fresh fried donuts. Oh yeah, and this morning, he baked a quiche.

DanaC 11-12-2007 04:14 PM

I don't understand that last exchange.....

BigV 11-12-2007 04:14 PM

DanaC 11-12-2007 04:16 PM

Chocolatl 11-12-2007 04:55 PM

I haven't been feeling well, today, but Kitsune just came home and made me an enormous bowl of chicken soup. Hopefully it'll help!

DanaC 11-12-2007 05:00 PM

Ohh poor you :( But nothing beats a big bowl of chicken soup when you're feeling rotten.

Aliantha 11-12-2007 05:09 PM

Chicken soup fixes everything.

It sounds like you need some chicken soup.

Aliantha 11-12-2007 06:16 PM

We found out last night that the boat I mentioned a couple of days ago is ours as long as the survey comes out fine.

We're very excited. :)

Aliantha 11-12-2007 06:17 PM

I hope you feel better soon V. If you need a chat, there's plenty of us around for you mate.

monster 11-12-2007 08:20 PM

My focus study at the kids' school is the best yet. they loved it, got it, learned stuff and it was a pleasure to teach.

Shawnee123 11-13-2007 09:14 AM

Coffee.

And Pilau. :)

Shawnee123 11-13-2007 11:12 AM

Maybe this is what I've been waiting for?

Oh wow.

I just found out there are 2 openings as FA tech at a college which isn't THAT far away.

Tech means NO counseling, just doing the processing I normally do on top of my other stuff here (and the part of my job I love.)

They pay their techs at a minimum higher salary than I make as a counselor here after 6 YEARS.

It's still a state school so I keep my state bennies.

They use the college-wide software our school uses, so I already know how to do most of it.

There would be one teeny tiny thing I'd have to learn as far as familiarity with major job duties: direct loan processing. Other than that, I've done it all (and way more!)

Yes, I'd like to stay here, but am tired of bending over to grab my ankles. And though I'm good at the counseling aspect, I don't like that part of my job.

Wish me luck! :ipray:

Cicero 11-13-2007 11:20 AM

Hey-good luck! And get that raise so we can see you with a shiny new home computer!!
I'm going to get one too....so we can finally tie one on and be drunk and disordely from home.....:)

I wish you luck...crossing the fingers...as long as this includes a definite salary increase. (just because it sounds like more responsibilty)

Shawnee123 11-13-2007 11:35 AM

No, it's LESS responsibility.

I do what they are asking for as part of my current job. But here I also do 3 other MAJOR responsibilities that, in a larger school such as the one I"ll be applying to, are done by one person each, usually.

Cicero 11-13-2007 11:51 AM

I'm all for that! Hey, crossing the fingers. Go get it.

DanaC 11-13-2007 12:06 PM

*thinks good thoughts for Shawnee*

Good luck Shawnee, and Pilau said to tell you "Woof"...which i assume means good luck :P

Cicero 11-13-2007 12:09 PM

Dana, I love Pilau. I used to have a sheppard doggy, it looked much like yours. Very awesome dog.
Looking at the photos...Pilau makes me happy too.
(I want a dog so bad)

Spexxvet 11-13-2007 12:10 PM

Go for it Shawnee! Good luck!

Shawnee123 11-13-2007 12:21 PM

Thanks all!

Hey, I've got the Power of Pilau on my side, I can't lose!

Sundae 11-13-2007 03:30 PM

Good luck Shawnee!
Pleased that a good opportunity has come along - I'll keep everything crossed they see how perfect you'll be for the role.

Good Luck Shawnee, kick ass

Clodfobble 11-13-2007 03:52 PM

Crazy music nostalgia going on today. I'm finally making further progress on importing my very large CD collection into iTunes (I made it to the S's sometime last spring, but then we packed up to move and I never got my momentum back.)

Anyway, early in my senior year in high school I went through this short but very intense punk phase, initiated primarily by having a thing for this guy at work who played in a punk band. I just came across this compilation CD of a bunch of different local bands that were all signed with this one tiny local record label. I listened to this thing like every night for 4 months, and then never again--until just this afternoon.

I remember every track, and I can still sing along with most of them. This must be why my brain is running out of room, I can't seem to clear out any of the old stuff.

DucksNuts 11-13-2007 03:53 PM

Good Luck Shawnee!!!! That sounds like an awesome job for you.

HungLikeJesus 11-13-2007 04:38 PM

I was reading the Cellar and tried to set my glass of coke on a table that didn't exist. Now my pants are wet and I have a meeting in 24 minutes.

That made me laugh.

Luckily I'm in a hotel and have other clothes.

Tink 11-13-2007 05:32 PM

BigV.

BigV 11-13-2007 05:35 PM
