I got a nice little email from the Cellar this morning. Very thoughtful. Thank you, Cellar.

glatt 05-12-2009 08:38 AM

It must be your birthday. Happy Birthday.

lumberjim 05-12-2009 11:47 AM

But what about your hat?

lumberjim 05-12-2009 01:01 PM

I didn't get a hat stretcher....

binky 05-12-2009 01:40 PM

I took my 13 yr old daughter to a local college production of Little Shop Of Horrors on Sunday and she is still thanking me today. Considering that she usually behaves like someone just ran over her puppy, that is a minor miracle.

SteveDallas 05-12-2009 02:07 PM

So, does she want to go to dental school now?

binky 05-12-2009 02:36 PM

LOL actually the dentist was her favorite character, aside from Audrey II

Pie 05-12-2009 03:12 PM

I think I may have located a friend from college. She dropped off our radars pretty quickly after graduation. She had a ChemE degree, and the Goog only turned up one person with her name, and that person was a DBA. Not a match, I thought.

After combing through and correlating other bits of data over the last few months, I think it must be her. I sent her an email and am crossing my fingers.

After all, when I think about the twists my own career has taken it's not so hard to believe it could be her.
:fingerx:

capnhowdy 05-12-2009 06:39 PM

Just got 'dropped in on' at the lodge by two Marines I served with in 1971 that I haven't seen in a few years. We are all still fairly healthy and managed not to speak of the negatives of the war. In parting, they gave me a bottle of 12 yr scotch and a case of bangoliers. We were all discreetly misty. Life is good. RFN.

I met a very, very nice man who is good looking, gainfully employed and seems normal so far!! He invited me to lunch on friday!

*crosses fingers*

My son will turn 18 in Oct. and it's just about time to get it out there.

capnhowdy 05-12-2009 08:22 PM

You go, girl!

Good luck. I envy that dude.

Run. Run far, and hide.

Two photographs and a bag of meat.

SteveDallas 05-12-2009 08:43 PM

I successfully installed an electrical outlet without incident. (When we tore down wallpaper in the kitchen, we discovered they had papered over a junction box that we never even knew was there.)

monster 05-12-2009 09:54 PM

After the shitty way the year started, I saw a double rainbow today.

Yeah, I know, the second one is partial, but it's there.

Chocolatl 05-13-2009 05:21 AM

Will be entering the strange and happy world of dog ownership around lunchtime today. Only got 5 hours of sleep because I'm so excited/nervous.

Fair enough!

He's single! YAY!

A divorced dentist with his own practice. (kids all grown)

Now - no anti-dentite jokes, please!

:D

ZenGum 05-13-2009 07:22 AM

How about "probing your cavity" jokes, are they okay?

Shawnee123 05-13-2009 07:36 AM

Bri, you know I can't resist:

Kramer: You're a rabid anti-dentite! Oh, it starts with a few jokes and some slurs. "Hey, denty!" Next thing you know you're saying they should have their own schools.

Jerry: They do have their own schools!

I'll give a qualified "yes"

glatt 05-13-2009 07:44 AM

being anti-dentata, on the other hand, is perfectly reasonable.

Movie musical excerpts? Always.

Sundae 05-13-2009 10:01 AM

Oooh! That makes me happy - Bri's gettin' some!
Does he have a brother?

Today I am happy planning my trip to Amsterdam in Sept.
Of course this depends on how much tax refund I get, but it's the best chance I have for a holiday this year, so I'm going to plan the hell out of it and if it doesn't happen at least I'll have enjoyed that part.

AND I'm going to see a screening of the first episode of Psychoville (Pemberton/ Shearsmith new project) on Weds 27 May at the BFI, with a panel dicsussion afterwards with Mr Shearsmiths himself. Wooop! Wooop! Ticket was £6.65 in case you were wondering. Instead of the £8.30 I was going to spend going to see Angels and Demons with the 'rents (their choice). Money much better spent methinks.

Happy today.

Queen of the Ryche 05-13-2009 02:13 PM

Good luck Bri, and Choc! (Personally I'd rather get a dog than go on a date.)

Going to the Rockies game with a GREAT friend who I haven't seen since I moved to CO - her bro in law plays for the Rockies, so we're meeting at his house, his wife is driving, we get to park in player parking, use the player entrance, sit in the player's wives section. I feel like a celebrity!!!

classicman 05-13-2009 03:03 PM

well you are the Queen after all....

capnhowdy 05-13-2009 04:18 PM

@ Bri.....

I bet first thing he says is "Open wide".

Then you say "Ahhhhhhh". I truly hope you find true love. AND get you some.

Trilby 05-13-2009 04:58 PM

thanks, guys!

monster 05-13-2009 07:06 PM

ZenGum 05-13-2009 07:51 PM

lumberjim 05-13-2009 08:15 PM

my mom's car was parked next to a car that caught fire. the heat melted her passenger side. total loss.

Is he a redhead, Bri? Should we worry about gingivitis?

capnhowdy 05-13-2009 09:37 PM

Free toothpaste and toothbrushes for life.

And lots of floss. You know you love floss.

no, not a ginger! He's actually gone all grey/white! (I'm getting up there myself, you know...but he's 13 years older than I am, so...)

:) It's all good. He wears glasses and yes, has a very nice smile.

capnhowdy 05-14-2009 07:03 AM

Glad to hear that, Bri. But you know what we're all REALLY waiting for.....

Trilby 05-14-2009 07:07 AM

a savior to rise from these streets?

capnhowdy 05-14-2009 07:38 AM

Heavens, no!

Someone would crucify him!

Hang on, hang on (as the robber said to the saviour...)

I'd just got to the point where Bri is being drilled by the dentist, and now she's being nailed by Jebus? This thread moves too fast for me.

Crimson Ghost 05-14-2009 01:51 PM

Bri is banging Captain Pike?

/obscure?

DanaC 05-14-2009 01:59 PM

(as in the guy who was captain before Kirk? Or have I got the name wrong?)

You are correct.
I just wasn't sure anyone would get the reference...

capnhowdy 05-14-2009 09:51 PM

Boston Butt cook off this Saturday at the lodge. I will enter.

Whole pig cooking coming up May 30 for open house.

Pics pending. In the outdoor cooking thread. God bless Mooseheart.

DanaC 05-15-2009 02:51 AM

I entered a competition recently where that was the answer ("don't tell them your name, Pike" rather than Bri, I mean). I googled it, sorry. I'll hand my geek badge in at the door.

Just thought I'd update you on my chillies.
Going to ask Dad if I can "borrow" a pot and some soil over the weekend.

DucksNuts 05-15-2009 06:00 AM

Bolognaise Pizza with Salami.....mmmmmmm

capnhowdy 05-15-2009 07:12 AM
