Wealthy, yes. Old picture, yes. Leader, yes. British, No.

Gravdigr 02-24-2017 10:01 AM

Is it Queen Beatrix?

xoxoxoBruce 02-24-2017 10:42 AM

Nope, American.

Breeching was the occasion when a small boy was first dressed in breeches or trousers. From the mid-16th century[1] until the late 19th or early 20th century, young boys in the Western world were unbreeched and wore gowns or dresses until an age that varied between two and eight.[2] Various forms of relatively subtle differences usually enabled others to tell little boys from little girls, in codes that modern art historians are able to understand.

Carruthers 02-24-2017 11:08 AM

Eleanor Roosevelt?

glatt 02-24-2017 11:23 AM

Is that the famous J. Edgar Hoover in a dress photo?

xoxoxoBruce 02-24-2017 11:39 AM

Carruthers is very close. ;)

footfootfoot 02-24-2017 02:11 PM

Dresses for boys, what will those zany late Victorians think up next?

xoxoxoBruce 02-24-2017 04:57 PM

A lot easier to get on and off than pants with a button, zipper, and belt.
That's why kilts are still popular.

Since the last one I gave you was fastball, here's an easy looper over the plate. Who's the dude in the middle. If you happen to have the phone numbers of either of the girls, I'll accept that.

Gravdigr 03-11-2017 04:14 PM

Neil deGrasse Tyson?

The girls' numbers are 7, both of them.

xoxoxoBruce 03-11-2017 06:20 PM

Yes! :notworthy

This was hard for me because she looks exactly like an early girlfriend, but that shouldn't hinder you...

Gravdigr 03-20-2017 12:59 AM

Helen Mirren?

xoxoxoBruce 03-20-2017 01:22 AM

Yes, yes it is.

Gravdigr 03-20-2017 04:15 PM

She's still a fairly good looking dame, too.

Pardon, me, Dame.

OK smart guys, who is this dude?

Gravdigr 03-22-2017 02:36 PM

That looks like one of those pics they come up with that's averaged an entire country's men's faces to come up with the Average Joe.

Not our Average Joe, who is anything but average.

Carruthers 03-22-2017 02:40 PM

I saw that pic in a UK newspaper the other day, but I'm damned if I can remember anything more than that.

Er, that's all really...

glatt 03-22-2017 03:36 PM

This one is difficult.

Just sayin.

xoxoxoBruce 03-22-2017 04:35 PM

Yes, it's a payback for Elvis. :lol2:

Clue - He's dead.

Neener, Neener

footfootfoot 03-22-2017 05:26 PM

I'm not so sure about what the boffins think. Just look at any old photos, people don't look like that as much anymore. I've got a set of books from this August Sander exhibition. Look at the faces, to me, they seem more substantial and rugged.

Cheater wins again.

Undertoad 04-10-2017 06:22 AM

Flint 04-10-2017 10:32 AM

footfootfoot 04-10-2017 12:43 PM

Gravdigr 04-10-2017 03:49 PM

Please check your pill count.

Flint 04-10-2017 05:10 PM

Check your post count, happy fingers.

Undertoad 04-10-2017 07:43 PM

You don't recognize him because normally he wears more eye makeup.

Clodfobble 04-10-2017 08:57 PM

Boy George?

Undertoad 04-10-2017 09:23 PM

so close! but no color; hint 2, early on he was guitarist for the band fronted by this lady, and arguably his future hair and makeup came out of her school of thought.

http://cellar.org/2017/siouxie.jpg

Clodfobble 04-10-2017 11:48 PM

I mean... you're making me think Alice Cooper with the visual hints, but he's not British. I don't know my overseas rockers at all.

Pico and ME 04-10-2017 11:53 PM

Robert Smith.

Undertoad 04-11-2017 12:18 AM

That is CORRECT!

IF you google image search "young robert smith" you see the transition, and it's interesting. He was guitarist for Siouxie and the Banshees in 1980, and again in 1982-84, but did not want to be in two bands at once. And fight over the hairspray.

Pico and ME 04-11-2017 12:25 AM

At first I looked into the Kiss guys...no British born there. Then, after a while, I Googled punk rockers (can't remember why), and she showed up and that's all it took.

Pico and ME 04-11-2017 12:26 AM

I was never a Cure fan, or punk rocker fan.

Gravdigr 04-11-2017 01:51 AM

I started to give the clue "He once punched Barbra Streisand."

On South Park, Robert Smith was the only one that could conquer MechaBarbraStreisand, in the form of Smithra. His attack was 'robot punch'.

Flint 04-11-2017 10:29 AM

Neil Gorsuch is Robert Smith ??!

Whom?

Gravdigr 06-01-2017 11:44 AM

I already cheated.

Wouldn't have had a clue.

They're going for the guy here, correct?
