I bought him through an exotics auction but he came off of one of those big game ranches that are quite common down here in Texas. He was a wild, untouched weanling male that has to be removed from the herd and sold before the lead stud killed him. Out in the wild, the young colts are driven off but when you fence them in, there is no place to run.

Shame really ~ These ranched zebras are bred like puppy mills to supply the demand for canned big game hunts. But that's a whole 'nuther emotional thread ~ :eyebrow:

That reminds me... I realize you don't believe in large scale speciation, ie a common ancestor for scorpions and buffalo, but you do believe in speiciation of, say, the various big cats. Can you think of two species that are as similar to each other as possible while still not being close enough for mutation to have produced them?

I don't know if I really have a point, I'm just curious about where the cutoff is.
