I learned how to trill my R's tonite.
19 years man. Woooot.

ZenGum 12-23-2007 03:44 AM

Congr-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-ratulations!

glatt 12-23-2007 08:21 AM

Awesome, Dana!

I'm happy 'cause I just heard from my brother that he's engaged. He picked a good one, so I'm glad she will be joining the family.

Sundae 12-24-2007 10:55 AM

Almost too much to name.
Highlights:
It's Christmas!
I'm with my family
I'm online (on and off - still enjoying my parents' company)
I'm going to watch football on Boxing Day with my bro.

It's all just so good!!!!

I spent Christmas eve with my guy and woke up with him on Christmas morning. I am totally blown away by him.

Clodfobble 12-25-2007 10:42 AM

Aww... Congrats, Dana!

That's really awesome.

Griff 12-25-2007 07:40 PM

groovy!

DucksNuts 12-26-2007 04:23 AM

Yay Dana....you deserve a lovely fella :)

Sundae 12-26-2007 05:29 AM

I found my camera!
I brought it after all. Annoyed that I missed Christmas Day (Dad ran out of batteries yesterday, so no pics at all - grrrrrrrrrrrr) but happy happy happy to have Boxing Day at least!

busterb 12-27-2007 04:38 PM

Found some Boscoli olive salad at Kroger today.

Cloud 12-30-2007 06:50 PM

1) made progress clearing out and cleaning out my "home office" (aka my bedroom)
2) I finally figured out how to reinstall my sound driver!
3) and, I unplugged, cleaned, and replugged my computer--including the speakers. And the speakers work!
4) --I have finally gotten around to cleaning and sorting my CD collection; and
--and putting them into Itunes, and figuring THAT damn program out;
--AND . . . my new Ipod rocks!

Whew!

HungLikeJesus 12-31-2007 10:34 AM

Cloud - that's more progress than I've made all year.

kerosene 12-31-2007 10:44 AM

New mattress set being delivered today!

HungLikeJesus 01-07-2008 12:22 AM

case, how's the new mattress?

+I'm sitting in a hotel in Montana and I can't even remember the name of the town I'm in. That's what's making me happy. It's at the south end of Flathead Lake, between Missoula and Kalispell.

kerosene 01-07-2008 08:35 AM

The mattress is great!

The fact that I finished the fishie girl painting and have started 2 more 2' X 3' paintings is making me happy. I may be unhappy if I can't finish them in time for the event they are going in.

shina 01-07-2008 10:46 AM

The new year, more money in the paycheck (what little Uncle sam let me keep but any little bit......), went cross country skiing for the first time Saturday and am still alive!

DanaC 01-07-2008 12:05 PM

Very cool. So what's cross country skiing like?

shina 01-07-2008 12:13 PM

Cold and a lot of work but very worth it. It's so quiet and beautiful in the snow. My legs are mad at me still. :)

DanaC 01-07-2008 12:29 PM

*smiles* yah but I bet your lungs and heart love ya :)

shina 01-07-2008 02:29 PM

I'm actually looking forward to it again surprisingly. Hopefully this weekend.

Clodfobble 01-07-2008 02:43 PM

I have finally started making progress on editing all my explicit mp3s so I can continue to listen to (most of) them in the car as Minifob gets old enough to repeat curse words.

Progress makes me happy, but only because I'm successfully ignoring how slowly it's going so far. Have I mentioned I own a lot of Stephen Lynch albums?

BigV 01-07-2008 03:24 PM

non fatal reality checks

Shawnee123 01-07-2008 04:11 PM

Kind and caring people.

BigV 01-07-2008 04:16 PM

I passed my test.

Undertoad 01-07-2008 05:06 PM

Well done! Did you use your wife's urine, or did you use some of that weird tea that's supposed to clean our your insides?

binky 01-07-2008 05:14 PM

My kids went back to school!!!

BigV 01-07-2008 05:22 PM

*chuckle*

I could sell my own urine for that kind of test. It was a different kind of pop quiz (just as high stakes and just as perilous) and I aced it.

classicman 01-07-2008 09:13 PM

good for you, V. Whats the rate for clean urine these days? I may need to make a little extra cash on the side ;)

BigV 01-08-2008 10:00 AM

I have a job.

I am healthy.

I have some assets.

I have earned the praise and respect of my co-workers.

BigV 01-08-2008 11:34 AM

I prefer to think of positive things, but the absence of negatives makes me happy too. Some of these things I don't suffer are close calls, and some of them are longshots. Each of these situations that don't apply to me makes me happy.

I'm trying to count my blessings today.

I'm not in Iraq or Afghanistan.

I'm not in jail.

...

I thought this list would be longer. I'll keep working on it.

:D Nice!

BigV 01-08-2008 12:23 PM

shina:

Do you know me? In real life? I don't know you, but something's...unusual.

shina 01-08-2008 02:57 PM

I do not know you that I know of.

Bullitt 01-09-2008 05:53 PM

I've got a job from now till I head out to Wyoming in March!

On that note, anyone here had any experience in the wildfire/controlled burn field?

monster 01-09-2008 07:57 PM

Wear good boots

classicman 01-09-2008 08:24 PM

don't smoke

HA HA HA

get it?

DanaC 01-10-2008 07:03 AM

*skips about doing the happy happy dance*

The little bout of depression that's been bothering me seems to have lifted. Yey. Am able to concentrate on my work again and not crippled by social insecurity.

Oh, and this is day three of seriously not smoking, no cheats at all. I am still using the gum, but that's a whole heap better than inhaling shit into my lungs. Two days in a row now, I have woken up without mad cravings. From 1st Jan til day before yesterday ( I think) I was half stopping, but then cheating if I was with someone who smoked (like having maybe half, or one cigarette in a day).

I am feeling confident now that I can do this. :)

Oh yeah, and I am sooooo looking forward to revision and exams being over so I can spend a bit of quality time with D. Just been flying visits lately. Last exam will be over in 5 days time, yey!

Shawnee123 01-10-2008 09:53 AM

My car, which wouldn't turn over when I tried to leave last night, just started right up.

I'm thinking maybe it hadn't "clicked" all the way into park...it was as like times when I've stalled in gear, then you can't start it until it's in park or neutral. Battery is fine...everything else worked. I did try to move the shifty thingy, but to no avail. So, after getting a ride home last night and a ride in today...I thought I'd give it a shot.

Thank you thank you thank you. Couldn't have juggled a car repair right now.

:)

aimeecc 01-10-2008 10:08 AM

Its Thursday. One day closer to the weekend. I have the most wonderful and handsome husband, and the sweetest baby in the world :)
4 years and 9 months until I can quit and stay at home w/ little one and still have met our financial goals...
Did you know we've gained 20 minutes of daylight since Dec 21? Spring is approaching...

BigV 01-10-2008 11:00 AM

Tink, sharing my life and sharing her life. SonofV, getting schoolwork done. Daughter, combining ambition and industry to achieve her goals. ElderSon, working toward what will make him happy and successful.

Clodfobble 01-10-2008 11:07 AM

Minifob, who was mildly sleep-deprived for a variety of coincidental reasons, took an almost four-hour nap yesterday, allowing me to clean the entire house top-to-bottom. It was awesome.

monster 01-10-2008 08:56 PM

OMG, if I had four hours to clean, it would barely make a dent in the piles of shite around the computer! The problem is, if I have four hours, I don't use them for cleaning! Are you nesting?

Clodfobble 01-10-2008 09:17 PM

Ha! No, not yet. I was mostly scrubbing the bathrooms and mopping, because those are basically impossible to do with Minifob around, plus moving the Christmas junk back up into the attic. I do nest, but usually it's entirely useless stuff like constantly rearranging clothes in the drawers.

HungLikeJesus 01-11-2008 12:01 AM

Shawnee, most cars are not meant to be left upside down for any length of time. I'm glad to hear that you got yours turned over.

Sundae 01-11-2008 06:42 AM

Yesterday I signed up to volunteer in a local charity shop one day a week. Scary but it feels good. I get shown around on Saturday and start on Thursday.

I've also managed to book a free haircut for 5 Feb - fully qualified hairdressers on an induction course for a very upmarket salon (to learn the way they do things there). It would cost me £73.50 if I was paying. Also the Manager was very taken by my story of getting back on my feet and has said he'll try to get me into the colouring part of the course too - wooohooo!

Tomorrow I am going on a London Walk called Darkest Victorian London, Peeling Forbidden Fruit and I am looking forward to it enormously. I'll take pictures if there is anything which translates well without too much explanation.

DanaC 01-11-2008 08:46 AM

Yey you Sundae! :)

One exam down, two more to go! Then a whole semester before I have to sit another.

TheMercenary 01-11-2008 08:47 AM

It has been in the mid to high 70's here all week.

BigV 01-11-2008 12:08 PM

I found my library book!

:happy dance:

I've been... slammed at work, and my desk is a mess, even by my lax standards. It was right there, under that pad. Interestingly, I had the devil of a time finding it, because I was looking for a green book (the color of the last one I just finished) and the one that was lost is really blue.

Shawnee123 01-11-2008 12:48 PM

This Week From Hell is almost over.

Well, a couple more hours. Right now I have to call someone who is most assuredly going to yell at me or cry to me.

But then...!

Happy edit: that is the 3rd student today that the front desk people asked me to call because they were SO MAD when they called earlier. All 3 of them were just fine talking to me, and were quite able to handle the situation after I spoke with them. Damn, I'm better at this than I thought (a week like this I have to remind myself!) :)

bbro 01-11-2008 03:09 PM

I Got A Raise Effective Monday!!! YAY!!

DanaC 01-11-2008 03:16 PM

Good goin Shawnee. Making that stuff less stressful for those students is a great service to them.

bbro, congrats!

Thanks!! I am dancing in the wind. And here, I thought the phone call was going to be bad news. :D

Shawnee123 01-11-2008 03:19 PM

Thank you Dana, that means a lot to hear that. :)

bbro 01-11-2008 03:29 PM

Sorry, Shawnee, I was just so excited. Although, it was people like you who got me through college, so thank you for being so patient!!

glatt 01-11-2008 03:48 PM

We just dodged a bullet.

The superintendent of our school district just released his much anticipated proposed redistricting plan, and our kids will be grandfathered. They get to stay in their school and not get bussed off to some new place where they don't know anyone.

519 other kids around the county are not so lucky.

Congrats, that whole redistricting thing sucks. There will be some very pissed off parents out there. Get ready.

Razzmatazz13 01-14-2008 10:23 AM

I got a boyyyyyfriend.
(Photos to come as soon as I remember to take some of us.)

ZenGum 01-14-2008 10:30 AM

That's great, Razz. :)
We'd been wondering where you'd been.
