Good going, Dana.

1.) I went to a baby shower, and counter to my suspicions, it did not suck.
2.) I got a massage.
3.) I got my first pedicure ever (wouldn't have been my choice, but it was part of the spa gift certificate that got me a massage,) and discovered it's actually really nice. I didn't realize they do things like get rid of all your calluses and massage your feet while they're working. Plus, now my toenails are silvery-blue.
4.) Minifobette is officially weaned, which is great in and of itself, but it also means that I do not strictly have to be on her diet anymore. Mr. Clod went out and got me a big container of queso to celebrate. It was awesome.

Today was a good day.

tomorrow.....queso's revenge.

I just had some soup and had a piece of bread with it:) That's the first solid food I've managed since Friday. I feel like I've eaten a banquet!

Tell me about it. And it's worth noting that I could only eat about 1/4 of the container before I felt far too full to go on. Back in the day (as in, anytime prior to the last 7-8 weeks) I could eat the whole thing. There's no going back unless I make a conscious effort to gorge myself.

Going up to London today, the see a screening of the first two episodes of Psychoville, with a panel discussion afterwards (featuring the delectable Mr Shearsmiths).

Am also going to have my hair cut. Technically I can't afford it this week, but decided I'd manage. I'll have exactly £0.54 left! Poor hairdresser isn't getting a tip.

I'll run out of milk, but I can always get the 'rents to sub me - as long as they are buying groceries rather than giving me money they have no fear that they might be funding a relapse. Anyway, I know Mum has been looking at my untidy mop for weeks now with an exasperated air... She might not like it when I get back, but she will like the fact that I budgeted more of less correctly in order to get it done. She's rather sub me £1.66 than £15 after all.

Meeting my bro in London - although he lives in Aylesbury he commutes there for work. Which gives me a nice social aspect to the trip. I'm meeting him from work and walking over Westminster Bridge (Earth has not anything to show more fair/ Dull would he be of soul who could pass by/ A sight so touching in its majesty - I'll take pics!) and down the South Bank together. He has my Mum's punctuality gene the same way I do, so he'll understand why I have to be in my seat by 18.00 when the ticket says 18.15 :)

So, the lady who took my old job quit. They contacted me to ask if I would be willing to sign on as a "consultant" until they get someone hired and trained and they get a little caught up.

I didn't want to do anything to jeopardize my job here, so I asked my boss, who asked her boss, who asked her boss...now it's all approved with our dept VP and human resources.

I start tonight.

The money will be really good, and consultant looks good on a resume if I ever need it.

I will just be a little tired. :)

Bri's back.

Just heard a talk by D.C. school chancellor Michelle Rhee. She's certainly passionate about the subject, and doesn't mind breaking heads. I am happy to see someone willing to go toe-to-toe with the entrenched interests in our school system that are preventing some much-needed change.
