*shakes head* vet fees are so expensive. I can't walk through our vets door without emptying my bank account.
|
Sounds cheaper than American doctors :p
|
Well it's my turn tomorrow. I'm after 3 different prescriptions, each lasting 28 days (3x longer than Diz's two medicines). It will cost me less than £20. Blessings on the NHS, at least I never have to wonder if seeing a doctor is the right thing to do.
I am glad I took Diz - his eye is churning out gunge and I'd be frantic with worry if I hadn't. I am genuinely shocked re the cost though. Had this been an ordinary month I'd have been in tears. I'm grateful that the first time he has ever been ill has been when I've had money enough to look after him. I am definitely getting insurance for him when I get a job though. If it turns out he does have a heart murmer I wouldn't want lack of funds to mean I have no choice re treatment. He's in his usual position on my chest (laptop on my knees). If £80 means he's healthy then it's worth it. |
Sweet kitty loves his mommy! Glad he's feeling better, and you could do what you needed to do. Vets are crazy expensive, but I think pets know we want them to feel OK.
|
I'm going to have to look into puppy insurance. They say it works, especially during surgery....We'll see. :)

i was whining to John Dillenbeck (salesmanager) about losing my tie bar at the gym today....and told him that I had lost my other one in between the seat and console of an Altima coupe demo that i had. That car is still here in the front of the showroom. 1/2 hour later, John hands me my old tie bar. He had a skinny detailer go in after it. nice guy.
|
I now have shelving in both ends of our bedroom wardrobe with a clothes rod in between so now I can keep my clothes in our room instead of the spare room. :)
Also, Dazza is getting home tomorrow and wont be going away again till after Christmas. Also, my kids did a great job in their school swimming carnival yesterday. Also, I'm up to date with all my housework. Also, I'm going shopping tomorrow. Also, did you know it's only 29 days till Christmas? :) |

I'm losing it. |
I got to wait on V a L K i l M e r and his kids!! This morning! He's hot. Yeppers. Sometimes being the coffee and burrito whench isn't so bad. ;)
I'm so tired, and it was about 7:30 in the morning. I couldn't tell whether I was still dreaming or not. *blink blink* *pinching myself* He's getting big, but he's still hot. And definitely hotter in person. Rowr! Kitty cat! :) |
Did he tip?
|
Lil' Pete had a huge foil bout against a "B" rated fencer yesterday to pick up the bronze at a women's tournament. She beat her 15-14 in overtime. Not bad for a kid.

I got the tree and decorations up yesterday, woke up to this today. Yeah!
|
We got some of that, too. Not giving me the same jolly feeling you're getting out of it, though. But then, you run through freezing mud. :p

That's making me happy again today. :) This job isn't so bad after all. :D Hawt. |
FINALLY finished the enormous case study I've been working on all week. The final product is a 37 page beast with about 15 pages worth of original analysis. Yuck! I have another 15 pages to write tonight (and it's already almost midnight) but they are mostly reflection, so it should be easy going from here on out...

Two and a half hour mountain biking trip today in beautiful weather. Three big push-up hills, but lots of great interesting and fairly fast downhills, jumps, berms, all dirt tracks. We even found a very recently built track that is one of the best in the district.
I used the GPS in my phone as a trip log, but put it in my mad mate's backpack. We did almost 10 ks (I don't know the altitude variation) but the highest speed recorded was 124 kph!!!!! There is NO WAY that can be accurate, but even to get close to that he must have been zinging along. Because of the inaccuracy of the system, it sometimes registers a few kmh speed when stationary, but I've never seen error readings above 10kmh. How far off can a satellite GPS be, for speed? |
Imagine the skin you'd lose if you stacked on a dirt track doing 124k's! That would hurt.
Mav had a big stack on his BMX on the weekend. He has quite a spectacular bruise on his thigh which is about the size of a sandwich plate. |
This maniac (Eric Barone) was doing 170+ kph when he learned the importance of (a) not skimping on equipment and (b) doing your bloody helmet up properly.
|
What an idiot.
That vid made my stomach turn. Didn't they have first aid people on site? Surely they shouldn't have been moving him around so much? God some people are stupid. lol |
It's December first and it's our first snowfall of the year.
|
I have already raked 4 large, crammed-full bags of leaves off part of the front lawn so far today. That means I have, at best guess, only about 8 more to go! It's hard work because there's so many, but grabbing armfuls of crackling yellow leaves in one's arms, getting a good sniff of delicious earth, and feeling like one is getting a Big Job Done while enjoying the sun, wind, and birdsong is quite nice.

Love
or Lust.... or revisited something... I'm just happy :) |
I'm happy that Ducks is back. You been busy, mate? Or "busy" ;) ?
|
I'm happy that I might potentially only have to carry this great lump of extra human around inside me for another 13 weeks!

My cats are happy to have us back home! |
It is a beautiful sunny fall day outside, the leaves are gorgeous, the sky is blue... and I don't have to be out in the cold! YAY! lol
|
I am touching the Cellar monkey even though the tagline says not to touch it. ::touch touch touch:: Yes, I live on the edge, Danger is my middle name, I'm wild today!
|
Making me happy today: the indominatable human spirit and the kindness of relative strangers...just when I was ready to give up hope again. :)
|
wow shawnee, you sound so Christmassy.
I got a new pc monitor. You all look so pretty. |
Mav and Aden had the day off school today because we had some transport problems, and Mav got bored so he made some very nice white chocolate chip cookies.
Mmmmmm...that's what's making me happy today. :) |
I found out that my husband's cousin isn't gay after all. Well, at least he says he's not. No, he didn't come out and say "I'm not gay," LOL -- he talked about having girlfriends and enjoying life as a confirmed bachelor during a visit today. Now, I personally wouldn't care if he was gay - it primarily made me happy because my FIL has been convinced for the past two decades that he was gay and I am petty enough to enjoy seeing him be wrong about stuff. ;)
The cousin is, however, really weird. He's an over-caffeinated conspiracy theorist who's a huge fan of Glenn Beck, thinks we're all headed for the New World Order and being poisoned by chemtrails, and isn't known for ever keeping a steady job for long because he "likes to be independent." We got along just fine. ;) In other happy news, DH's aunt visited too - she is 87 and just as chipper as can be, a very sweet lady. So good to see she's still doing well. And I am drinking a surprisingly good inexpensive chardonnay. |
Juni...I have to ask what DH stands for. I just know it's not what I think every time I read it. lol
|
Drinking a great bottle of Petite Sirah from Sonoma as I roam the musings of my Cellar friends. Not a bad way to spend my time this evening.
|
DH = dear husband
Also could be "damn husband" or other D thing, as appropriate. Usually dear. You do know what FIL/SIL etc. stands for, right? Father in law? Sis in law? Just checking. :) |
Yes I know what those last ones stand for. lol
It's probably just because when my kids are cranky they might say someone was being a real DH meaning dickhead. Sorry about that. lol |
Hey, that's OK. Sometimes it fits!
|
I replaced my refrigerator's door gasket all by myself. Go me!
|
Go Clod! Good onya.
|
Yzn, the syrah is a HIGHLY underrated drink, IMHO. It's what Merlot tries to be ;) Enjoy!

This place. All you need is your model number, and they'll even tell you where to find that sticker on your particular fridge.
|
I'm impressed. I didn't know you could do that.
By the way, the old door gasket makes great refrigerator magnets. You just cut it up into 2 or 3 inch lengths and take the mildewy white vinyl plastic off it. You can get dozens of magnets strips out of it this way and they look pretty good. Whenever I see a fridge on the curb near my house, I can't resist cutting off a length of gasket for fridge magnets. |
I'm happy because after today, I only have to drive into the city three more times to pick up the kids after school. That's brilliant stuff as far as I'm concerned.
Also it means they're on holidays (vacation) so we'll get to spend some time together. :) |
Christmas bonus day! woo!
I am so lucky. |
AH HA!! I finally found THE bubbles. They are tiny and plentiful and the soap is thick so you can catch them on your finger. There is no substitute (believe me, I've tried) and it took a great deal of internet searching to figure out where to find them.
|
tamales!
bought from a friend of a friend; brought to our office; right out of the steamer (these people make them every day starting at 3 am!) 1/2 doz long green chiles with cheese (rajas) 1/2 doz chicken in green chile They also had rojo (red, which has pork I think). They're all yummy! $9 dozen. Want some? |
There doesn't seem to be any evidence of a reversal of the permabanning in the near future.
I feel like I can breathe again. |

I'm bone tired from fencing tonight. While we were at Candlewood fencing last weekend the club owner gave lil' Pete a new weapon. It is heavier than what she's been using and really appears to suit her well. Very cool. We also picked up a new adult fencer at our club this week which is a pleasant change from the vast numbers of little people we've been getting. He also wants to learn the local mtn biking scene since he hasn't ridden since leaving China.
