Plus I can use the old panel for wrapping baked potatoes.

Yeah!!
Evening swimming starts again tonight. I've missed it all summer when it is at the local outdoor pool in the mornings, since the high schools are closed. The scale says it's about time. Apparently I enjoyed my summer a little too much :o |

It's September. I realise this is not exactly breaking news... but it occurred to me today, I go back to University this month. Here we go again!

I'm back from the dentist.
BigV's back from the dentist.
Ask him how it went.
How did it go?
It went great. he's back isn't he?
What a relief! I really hate going to the dentist.
But coming back is good, right?
It made me happy today.
me too.
I'm happy just reading about it.
Post whores are making me happy.
I've been wondering for a long time, is it better to be a post whore or a whore post?
-------------------- This morning I was taking out the trash and I saw a walking-stick bug on the side of the porch, so I got my camera and took some pictures, then I got my other camera and took some more pictures. Then I came in and looked up walking-stick bugs and found they make good pets. I found a big jar and put a paper towel, a piece of butter lettuce and a stick in to the jar. Then I went out and picked up the stick bug and dropped him in too. Instead of clinging to the stick, like he was supposed to do, he fell over on his back and lay there with his little stick arms up in the air. I set him by my monitor and checked on him through out the day, but he never moved. I didn't bother to put a lid on the jar. I went to class, and when I came back --- there was no stick bug in the jar. He's a tan colored stick bug, and we have tan colored wool carpeting. I crawled around on my hands and knees for a while, then found the stick bug sitting on top of the power strip on the floor under the desk. I put him back in the jar, and now he's happily clinging to his stick. I think I'll call him Gustav. |
And the pictures are where?
Sycamore is recording...new music soon.
I lost 4 pounds this week...not sure how that happened.
And I finally got my money back from the fraudulent charges racked up on my debit card last week--$200. |

Gustav is cool! We did that with a praying mantis this summer with the kids. They named him cheeseball. It turned out we couldn't find enough bugs to eat, so we let him go free before he died in captivity. Still, it was fun for a bit.
looks like the top of a wheat stem. you should have named him phytomer.

Yeah, that is much more convenient. We had read the mantises were good pets and I suppose a pet store somewhere might have food for a pet like that.
Errr....is he alive?
Not that I am questioning or parenting skills or anything..... |
I am going to pick up the puppy this morning! Finally!:D My sweetheart is finally coming home! Yea!!!
The bed is ready and the treats are in the right spots, the doggy dishes are ready and cleaned, the kennel is together, the "puppy on the go" pack is ready, the collar with dog tag is all together, the doggy shampoo is out and ready to combat ticks, the nail trimmers are out for trimming, and I am all set! brilliant. Wonderful. Enjoy it honey!

We will have another used dog in residence in a few weeks. He is the same age as our current dog (5) and is handsome and healthy. We think our girl will love having a new brother who can frolic with her and then flop down for a window-rattling snore.
And this is funny: her name is Bimbo (she came with it, we thought to change it but she doesn't mind so Bimbo she is still) and his registered name has Scholar in it, so his call name is Rhodes. Yes, we will have a Rhodes scholar and a Bimbo as our pets. :)
Slightly off-topic: I attended a wedding just a bit ago. The groom's mother's name is Loopy...that is what is on her birth certificate.
I've just released Gustav.
I said, "Fly, be free." Unfortunately, stick bugs can't fly. |

Loopy. We actually just talked to her at the reception, but we didn't get the story on why her name is what it is.

Help! How soon can I get my 8 week old puppy on my sleep schedule? Is it cruel to wake her up during the day? Oh I feel like crap today...oh...still happy my puppy is settling in...Neeed sleep...:)

Oh jeez UT. It was her first night with us and I attempted to put her in her kennel and she howled like she was being stabbed or something. So we had to go sleep on the couch, then I would fall asleep and she would crawl on my head every thirty minutes, get comfy, and kick me in the head...She is going in the kennel tonight and she is going to have to howl I guess. The plan is to ware her out today, as much as I am, oh say, right now, and hopefully she'll just pass out. She is so darned cute though, as indicated by this photo :D :
Attachment 19308 Yes my rug is dirty. I think the reasons are obvious. ;) |
She's so cute! I am very envious. She can sleep with me, no matter how much she kicks, how can you deny that face?
Cute? Yes!
Crate training? Hell, yes! |
Cicero, did you do the thing with a clock wrapped up in cloth?
If you get a small alarm clock and bundle it up under her bedding, it'll sound like her mothers heartbeat and this usually comforts them during the first few nights. [edit] not small enough for her to chew on... |
I don't think it would be cruel to wake her up to play. We did that with Bosco when he was a kitten, and it cut down a lot on his running around and mrow-ing at night.
That cute little puppy face is killing me! |
Somewhere I read that for nighttime, you might have the pup in the crate, but on a table or something so you're there, visible and at the same level.
This seemed to quiet the young ones I have had. What a beauty! |
