Wow!! She was single digit age just a moment ago.

Seeing the young mens and womens grow up is a true joy. Being a near-step-grandfather now, I finally see it. I would have demanded to be a parent if I had known how totally freaking amazing it is.

Griff 05-18-2018 09:12 AM

I am constantly amazed.

Clodfobble 05-18-2018 09:37 AM

Brains, beauty, and grace. Grifftopia does it right.

Lol, her sister mailed it to her on loan.

Pete Zicato 05-18-2018 02:36 PM

I know what you're feeling Griff. I love the Zings. But I also miss the little Zings that were.

sexobon 05-18-2018 09:08 PM

Griff, you'll have to go to your user CP and keep an eye on the number of downloads for that last image. You might end up in violation of rule #2 - Do not try to break the Cellar. :D

xoxoxoBruce 05-18-2018 11:17 PM

Yesterday I was going through a desk drawer looking for something and found a number of pictures of the Griftopia girls over the years. Always beautiful, always smiles bright and shiny as a new penny, their happiness just glows.

nowhereman 05-19-2018 07:11 AM

Limey - making photographs, working my bees and prepping the greenhouse for spring.
Bruce - yes, it's a really nice museum that shows a lot of photography
monster - here's the link to their Upcoming Exhibitions page - scroll down for our show - https://www.lymanallyn.org/category/...g-exhibitions/

monster 05-19-2018 09:12 PM

Gonna be a long work day but we made it. We rode herd on 3 octogenarians yesterday which can be difficult but we meditated on patience. Diploma and cudgel in hand Lil'Griff is free to roam this world.

xoxoxoBruce 05-21-2018 08:44 AM

Diploma, cudgel, killer smile, and a head full of Griftopia training on doing the right thing. I feel much better about the future, thanks Griff and Pete!

Gravdigr 05-21-2018 04:39 PM

There may be hope.

This is the highlight of my day:

Newborn???

Clodfobble 08-26-2018 06:21 PM

You know Neal Brennan, co-creator of Chapelle's Show? My fast internet-clicking fingers managed to score front row seats when he comes to Austin in October. Hooray!

Undertoad 08-26-2018 08:17 PM

:thumb: he is brilliant ~ we had previously agreed on the awesomeness of his last special

Clodfobble 08-26-2018 08:31 PM

Ah, yes! I wish to renew my subscription to that agreement.

It was pure luck that we got in--his first show sold out before I even knew tickets were for sale, but then they added a second show, by which point I think most of the "refresh-refresh-refresh-refresh-BUY" fans already had their tickets.

Gravdigr 08-27-2018 02:04 PM

Hey Clod, have you ever seen the band Vintage Trouble? I recently caught them (along w/Alabama Shakes) on Austin City Limits (they, Vintage Trouble, were great, btw) and the camera panned around the audience a little, and there was a very Clodfobble-esque young lady in the crowd.

A very Clodfobble-esque young lady...

Clodfobble 08-27-2018 02:52 PM

Sorry, wasn't me. (I was busy peeing in the liquor store.)

xoxoxoBruce 08-27-2018 04:12 PM

:lol2:

Gravdigr 08-28-2018 04:28 PM

Wow.

I'd almost forgotten that.

:lol2:, indeed.

monster 08-30-2018 09:02 PM

Thor passed his driving test. NO MORE CHAUFFEUR DUTIES (for me... bwahahahahaha.....)

Clodfobble 08-30-2018 09:06 PM

Sweet!!

xoxoxoBruce 10-12-2018 10:04 PM

Got a postcard from Billy today, he's on vacation in Germany. :)

BigV 10-12-2018 11:20 PM

Wonderful!

I bet I could find the picture I took of us at dinner, from back in the day...

glatt 10-13-2018 06:50 AM

I've been exhausted all week and went up to bed at 8:30pm last night. I got three more hours of sleep than usual and feel great this morning. Sometimes it's the little things.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3991050fd3.png

DanaC 10-13-2018 07:27 AM

wow. 9 hours of sleep. That's the dream man.

monster 10-15-2018 09:25 PM

I think you'd certainly dream with nine hours. I was just starting to dream this morning when my alarm went off after 3 hours :/

Don't panic, I'm on my way to bed now so might even get 5 tonight :)

BigV 10-20-2018 09:37 AM

A few things are making me happy today

I am still employed

I have finished framing the deck and filling the framing with gravel

Twil and I are on a road trip leaving this morning

I heard from one of my dearest friends this morning

I spent $4 on a couple lottery tickets this week and I am wringing the last drops of potential bazillionaire-hood from those 400 pennies

My stepdaughter, M, is happy with a gift I got for her, and I am very happy that she's happy

I have a full, hot, fresh cup of coffee waiting for me, just over there

I leave you now, because, coffee

what sleep app are you using?

I've looked into a number of them but they all seem to be basing conjectures on your breathing and noises.

glatt 10-21-2018 05:12 PM

This is a fitbit which measures pulse and wrist movements.

glatt 10-21-2018 05:14 PM

FYI fitbits are pricy, but there are a number of clones on aliexpress for a reasonable price.

Diaphone Jim 10-22-2018 12:08 PM

You had at least seven REM periods when that many or more dreams could have graced your night.
I love to dream and the dreams I dream. I have been working on lucid dreaming for years, with cycles of varying success.
Most recently (in my 70's) I have been enjoying what I call epics (a 'la Demille and Homer). They can be scary or funny, but they are always long and complicated and great.

Also making me happy is that after about 10 weeks, my hip replacement seems to be taking hold. Healing makes me happy.

That's awesome.

Griff 10-22-2018 08:46 PM

Good news!

footfootfoot 10-28-2018 10:45 PM

But how does it really know you are in REM sleep? it's just monitoring heart rate and movement and sound.

BigV 10-28-2018 10:49 PM

Another question

What do you do with the information?

glatt 10-29-2018 06:45 AM

I don't know how accurate the report is. When I am clearly awake and up and moving around and have a memory of that, I have looked at the report later and they got it right. However there have been times where I have woken early and just stayed as still as possible trying to fall back asleep again, and the fitbit thought I was asleep.

So it gets things wrong sometimes.

I've found that looking at the data sometimes gets me to change my behavior to improve my habits. Not so much with sleep, although I did go to bed early that one time, it's more with exercise. I make an effort to get my steps in, and if I really haven't walked much in a day, I'll often take a walk after dinner. My paying attention to my fitbit encourages me to do that.

I approve.

Glinda 10-29-2018 01:27 PM

I just submitted the final chapter of the book I've been editing/proofing since forever.

Hallelujah! Bring on the dancing boys. :D

Griff 10-29-2018 01:34 PM

Huzzah!

xoxoxoBruce 10-29-2018 01:36 PM

Yes dear...

Glinda 10-29-2018 01:58 PM

Well that respite didn't take long. They just asked if I was interested in proofing another book (100 pages) with a crazy turnaround time.

Ah well, no rest for the wicked.

But thanks Bruce, for the dancing boys! HA!

By the end of October.

That line is going in the book, btw.

Heh.

Actually, they want it done by Nov. 2. Hell, I can do that in my sleep. :eyebrow:

Gravdigr 10-30-2018 02:49 PM

So, the good news is, I've apparently impressed them with my analitude (and speedy response) regarding the written word and its associated punctuation and final presentation. They have multiple additional jobs for me, if I want them and have the time.

*sigh*

I just got my life back after two long months, dammit!

And this evening, I got a call from my longtime friend/client/former employer (the guy who owns a town in MT) who is desperate for my help.

Goddammit.

I am valued, needed, and in demand (and I can continue paying the bills). *bliss*

I told my friend that he'd better fucking take his usual winter vacation in Cabo and invite me along.

xoxoxoBruce 11-05-2018 11:24 PM

Be pleasant, be gracious, be cool... if they can afford you. ;)

Gravdigr 11-06-2018 07:56 PM

Does it still feel good to feel wanted?

fargon 11-07-2018 06:42 AM

What good news did you get?

Glinda 11-07-2018 10:01 AM

Yes, and even better, it feels good to know that I apparently have a great ongoing gig! When you're a freelancer, you're looking for a new job every freakin' day. Once in awhile, you get locked into something sweet, and you ride that wave as long as you can. Unfortunately, sometimes that wave peters out.

For example, the last two ongoing proofing/editing jobs I had (roughly three years each) were eventually outsourced to India. I find it hard to imagine that people in India have a better grasp of American English and its excentricities than, say, I do, but there you go.

So, yeah. I'm still stoked. I like the work (when it's not dumped on me at the last minute!) and they like my work, so what's not to love?

Currently, I'm taking a week off, and I'm loving that even more. :)

Gravdigr 11-08-2018 02:49 PM

I'm off this week, too.:D

I'm heavily self-medicating today in your honor, my honor, and in response to the insanity that hit my hometown overnight.

God rest their souls. :sniff:

Glinda 11-26-2018 02:03 PM

I just finished the chapter files for another book - this one on voice/speaking disorders - with the front/back matter and references still to come. Even though there will be more files to work on before this project is completely finished, I feel like I just climbed Mt. Everest - my proofreading projects are (nearly) done!

 :cheerldr: :tuba: :fumette:

xoxoxoBruce 11-26-2018 09:24 PM

Hooray, good on you. :folks:

BigV 11-26-2018 10:09 PM

JackieG 11-27-2018 06:12 AM

I've been giddy ever since I walked up today. I'm expecting my 1TB SSD to arrive that I ordered yesterday. Got a good deal on it for Cyber Monday yesterday.

fargon 11-27-2018 06:17 AM
