We're going to spread some paint at the new fencing club. We reached out to the historical fencers in town realizing that together we can afford a much better space. A Russian dance studio went belly up a couple years ago leaving a 40'x65' hardwood floor behind. We're going in!

Cool!

I saw Russian dancers in Elmira NY...they were in town for something, and they worked them into the local Mark Twain play...and it was freaking awesome. These little kid Russian dancers were amazing.

Happy fencing! (Can I call it that? Isn't that like stealing or washing money or something?) :)

Sundae 04-15-2009 01:37 PM

I've made a friend.

Sheldonrs 04-15-2009 01:41 PM

Now there are two road trips I want to take! :p

Shawnee123 04-16-2009 07:40 AM

@ Dana:

I forgot to tell you, Dexter has arrived.

I'm hoping to have a mini-marathon on my day of sloth. :)

DanaC 04-16-2009 07:54 AM

Oooooh. Oh I am envious :)

Don't know if I mentioned this anywhere yet, but I am very happy my computer is back and fixed. Didn't need a new hard disc after all (which had been his initial suspicion) and lost no data (i.e 4000 words of dissertation). Apparently it was something to do with the file indexing system *looks up to see information flying right overhead* errr...so yes. Anyway, it was in the shop from Friday lunchtime, to yesterday morning, which left me dependent upon my laptop for the entire easter weekend (made more difficult by the laptop intermittently stopping working). They ran it through hours and hours of diagnostics. I think the hard disc check alone took about 5 hours. They checked evrything, installed up to date AVG and firewall, cleaned it all up and sorted out the registry. Cost me £30. Awesome.

Clodfobble 04-16-2009 03:00 PM

I have mastered the art of frying my own chicken nuggets. The breading recipe (which is to say, nothing resembling bread) still needs tweaking, but at this point it's edible. Another round or two and I will attempt to serve them to the foblings.

lookout123 04-16-2009 03:02 PM

Dana, I told you those red undies would be lucky.

Queen of the Ryche 04-16-2009 03:22 PM

...or lack thereof...

lookout123 04-16-2009 03:26 PM

nom nom nom

LabRat 04-16-2009 03:31 PM

We are dropping the kid off at a babysitter so we can meet a friend to celebrate her 40th birthday today by throwing back a few margaritas.

:yum:

lookout123 04-16-2009 04:06 PM

Margarita is an unusual name. It's quite amazing you know a few of them.

Queen of the Ryche 04-16-2009 04:32 PM

Lookout is making me happy today. He is on Fi-AH!

Sun_Sparkz 04-16-2009 06:19 PM

I just got my $900 "Tax Bonus" for the economic stimulas package.
And am co-incidentally on holidays at the Gold Coast - Hawwwwww Yeah!

theotherguy 04-16-2009 07:16 PM

I'm going home tomorrow. Happy.

Why would you throw them back? Were they not legal?

Queen of the Ryche 04-16-2009 09:49 PM

PrincessOTR was recomended for the "advanced" first grade class next year. It's a new program they implemented two years ago at her school - It's not the same as "Gifted & Talented" but in conjunction. In short, out of 150 kindergarteners they chose 20. I am so proud of her, and nervous. But I know she will do well - I think she's bored now and would thrive with motivation to excel. I am one super duper proud mommy!!! Thanks for letting me share.

Aliantha 04-17-2009 12:08 AM

Max got a very lovely soft bunny in the post today. It came from a dwellar in GA! Can you guess who it was?

Thankyou to that very special person. :) It's beautiful. I'll post a pic of it in the Max thread later on.

LabRat 04-17-2009 09:03 AM

Apparently, 40 is the new 21. I am happy, nay, ecstatic that I am not my friend this morning.

Wow.

Even her husband said he's never seen her that drunk before. My second happy is that I wasn't wearing new shoes last night ;).

glatt 04-17-2009 09:26 AM

Ew.

Tiki 04-17-2009 11:20 AM

I feel sorry for her because she has a cold, but my housemate has lost her voice. :evil2:

Queen of the Ryche 04-17-2009 12:57 PM

Karma, Tiki! Congrats! Hope it lasts!

Sundae 04-17-2009 01:33 PM

My new friend is making me happy today.
She knows how hard it's hit me being discharged from 7 days a week care to one visit every two weeks :(

So she invited me to come along on her son's playgroup's day out at a local open farm.
So this Tuesday I'll be there like her fat lesbian partner ;)
But I'll get to meet her son, play with the animals, meet new people and I hope take some photos for you.

And support her of course - she's by no means out of the woods herself yet (she is still at the day centre three days a week).

This making friends thing. I think I like it. It seems so long since someone I liked actually liked me back. Present company excepted of course, I have real friends here I know.

I thought No F**King WAY !!!! But the bolts Lined up JUST right ,
I just got finished chargeing it up , and the AC is COLD !!!!!!!!
:jig: Zippyt doing the HAPPPY Dance :jig:

Ill check the pressure in a few days to see its still holding

Queen of the Ryche 04-17-2009 03:52 PM

I love the "Bloop" sound effect! I can hear exactly how that sounds! Congrats.

Undertoad 04-17-2009 04:15 PM

I completed ripping my CDs to FLAC format. 525 of them.

morethanpretty 04-17-2009 09:23 PM

So what's the plan? Are the CDs going into cold storage? Are you going to have all the ripped files streamable from your computer to other parts of the house? Are you going to give your DVDs the same treatment?

Undertoad 04-17-2009 11:22 PM

The actual CDs are shoe-boxed. At first I felt like maybe I would put them all in CD trapper keepers, but there are just too many of them and I think the best plan is to not ever see them again.

The ripped FLAC files are 150 GB. Next, I'll use those perfect copies to generate a library of mp3s, for portable needs. I'm gonna write a script to do that. All are on a Red Hat Fedora system, will be backed up, and are served to the rest of the house via Samba.

I was an early adopter of DVDs, but it has taken far too little time for them to wind up on the obsolete path. A disappointment. Also, as a music lover, the DVDs are not as important to me as the CDs. And I haven't sunk much effort into understanding all the video formats. And I haven't set up a computer for the main living room TV. So the DVDs will remain on the shelf for now.

Heehee...Last night I was in bed by 11 pm. On a Friday night. Played a little Toontown, lost a little money at WorldWinner.com, read some posts.

I have no life either! :)

BigV 04-18-2009 02:23 PM

I have a new sewing project.

I have to make twenty pack covers over the next couple weeks. I'm going to purchase the materials now.

Sundae 04-18-2009 03:23 PM

Pack covers? Explain please.

This is something that has been making me happy since Thursday but I just haven't uploaded my pics til today.

My new friend bought me two chilli growpots, as she knows I love spicy food.
They're only about as high as my hand - you pot them up separately as they grow obviously. And the pots have clingfilm on as per the instructions, until the seedlings appear.

I'll keep you updated!

BigV 04-19-2009 01:51 AM

not the dog

morethanpretty 04-19-2009 10:09 AM

Ha! I learned a new way to ping a computer, and it is about half a second faster than the way I did it before.

I'm not a real computer technician, I just play one at work.

BigV 04-19-2009 12:04 PM

BB King on the radio...

yeahhhhh...

SteveDallas 04-19-2009 12:09 PM

Really, how's that? I like to use a ball-ping hammer.

Queen of the Ryche 04-21-2009 04:29 PM

effing with HQ on the Freedom thread. I'm sure I'm not as edumacated as him but I don't give a shiat. It's fun.:blah:

Griff 04-21-2009 08:51 PM

Got an offer of a gig from someone I was gonna approach about a gig. Offered gig would be replacing said person rather than working under said person. It would be a big change/ major comittment/ great opportunity... thinking on it.

BigV 04-21-2009 09:24 PM

eleven minutes to blast off

Jaydaan 04-21-2009 11:54 PM

My new 42 inch flat screen TV is making me happy.... and the guys, all the hockey games.. only bigger, clearer and in HD ( whatever that is LOL)

Bullitt 04-22-2009 01:34 AM

I guess if I'm going to gripe in the what's upsetting you thread, I ought to toss something in here to balance it out. Reconnected with a good friend of mine from high school the other day. We're both graduating in two weeks and haven't kept in real good contact after high school, so it'll be great to catch up with him and all that.

xoxoxoBruce 04-22-2009 01:58 AM

The only thing better than that would be it he owed you money. :haha:

DucksNuts 04-22-2009 05:51 AM

Its raining men, which is the way it happens it appears.

Aliantha 04-22-2009 06:40 AM

hallelujia!

Shawnee123 04-22-2009 12:13 PM

Yes, men. Smart, sexy, self-assured men. Sigh. I'll take four more please.:luv:

My sister was promoted today, and her former boss has been sidetracked to a different department (a real immature, jealous type who would have made her life hellish is she was still in the same section). Good, no great, news!

Shawnee123 04-22-2009 03:30 PM

Home early today, 2 comp hours to burn. :)

Shawnee123 04-22-2009 03:58 PM

Now V, you know I hate snow camping. :)

capnhowdy 04-22-2009 07:37 PM

I got a new TV for my bedroom. Now I don't have to fall asleep on the couch every night and wake up at three, go to bed and toss/turn half asleep the rest of the night.
Installed a splitter, ran the coax....everything went well.
And all between the time I got off work (1600) and open time at the Lodge.

And scotch. 12 yr.:jig:

lumberjim 04-22-2009 07:39 PM

I singlehandedly replaced our front gutter!

classicman 04-22-2009 07:49 PM

Woo Hoo - next day off, come help with mine! It's been leaking for years. It is angled the wrong way or something.

lumberjim 04-22-2009 07:51 PM

i was surprised that it only cost $118 for all the parts to do a 25' section with a down spout. and about 2 hours of running up and down the ladder. It would have gone quicker with another ladder and a helper.
