Easy breezy 33 hours this week.
Coulda shoulda woulda been more, but I didn't turn anything down. Admit it's been a walk in the park and am acclimatising to the longer shifts. Checkouts are now head-hunting me, and they seem to know shortfalls in their rotas well before Counters, so that is where I am doing my overtime. Don't get me wrong, I still love the customer interaction and specialism on Deli. But it's so hectic and people can sometimes be very impatient, to the point of being rude. I'd never want to work checkout as my main job, but as a filler to rack up my hours it's better than having someone shout, "EXCUSE ME? Is anyone serving on here?" when you actually have a spit of rotisserie chickens in your oven-gloved hands  I do seem to be fitting in though. One of the young lads told me I was his favourite new starter for ages. And when I say young lad I mean I wouldn't even have had to start early to birth him. He just likes me because I'm as rude as he is. Need to keep reminding him my name is not Sherry/ Cherie though. Mebbe I should change my name to Jane. No-one can get that wrong, Shirley? Only three hours today, but it's time and a half. |
Excellent!

Lovely chat with Sundae on the phone this morning :)
|
Thanks hon, proper made my morning too.
Back from work, what a super sweet short shift (3 hours). I felt as if I'd just gone in to do my shopping or something. I can't believe my usual shift used to be 3.5 hours... |
My nephew, the first louie in the USMC, was home briefly, so they had a small family party for him at brother and sis-in-law's home.
I got to swim and hang out with not only the young adult faction of my nieces and nephews, but also with the younger faction of my nieces. Swimming was especially fun. I'm really proud of all of them. My just turned 9 year old niece and I had a great time in the pool. And my almost 3 year old great-niece and I have totally bonded. What's better than a 3 year old telling you she loves you? Not much. And they all told me that, ages irrelevant. I miss my mom, because she would have loved today, but I'm so thankful my dad was there and enjoying the family he helped create. And that ain't all he creates...we were surrounded by woodwork he's done. He's so awesome. I'm a lucky girl. Plus, they're all so funny. I listened to the young adult faction and laughed so much...and I used the line about how I could be a young person were it not for my age. These are memories I will keep close to my heart. Yeah, I'm a lucky girl. :) |

Sounds like a perfect day IM.
I am happy about mav buying himself a car today. He saved hard. $4k in a little over a year. Anyway, i am very proud of him. :) |
Sounds awesome Infi.
Life is all about paying attention as moments like that are happening and making sure you enjoy them. Moments like that aren't exactly rare, but they happen infrequently enough that it's good to be mindful when they do. :) |
Congrats to Mav. His first car? He'll remember it forever.
|
I hope he has more luck with his than Aden did. The clutch failed, then a week after that was repaired he crashed it. He's decided not to fix it. just trade it in when he's got some dosh together. It still runs, so he might get something for it.

I got a raise at work. The company gave everyone a raise and I also got my 6 month raise :D
|
excellent
|
a raise?! Niiiice! Congratulations!

Haha...yeah. thats why i have been urging mav not to spend everything on this one. Save a little bit for a rainy day.

Congrats, Nirvana!!
Congrats to Marv on his first car too. :D Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk |
I am happy that i now have over 1000 likes on my fb page for my business. I am very pleased. :)
|
1000, that's excellent! Congrats!
|
Congrats also.
Make a vanilla cupcake with a random funky decoration and hold a competition for people name it. Bet you get another 1000 likes within two weeks. And as you are both judge and jury at least you don't get stuck with something unuseable (Grav's Fat Cock Cupcakes might not sell) Scary to think you have two sons old enough to drive! |
Thanks guys. :) it's a big milestone for me.

Ali, I'll license "Grav's Fat Cock Cupcakes™" to you, but we'll have to work out a payment plan. We'll be rich, rich I tells ya! Fat Cock Cupcakes - :lol2: |
Also:
Just cuz it ain't getting used regular-like now, don't mean it's unuseable. |
My darling Grav, I did not mean to disparage your cock, fat or not.
It was just the juxtaposition of penis and cupcake that I thought people wouldn't go for. Especially not for their child's birthday party. Hen parties (bachelorette?) however... |
:D

Got a birthday card from Bruce today.
Personalised with photos of me and everything. Leaked at the eyes a bit. And yes, I knew it was a birthday card and yes it was early (because you can't rely on airmail) but I opened it anyway because why not strecth birthdays out while they still amuse you. |

Grav ... this could be a new career. Cupcakes and the MAN himself at the bachelorette party! :D
Sundae, when is the day? Yes, I'll look it up in a sec but just asking. Probably too late to get a card there in time, but PM me with your new address? Because stretched-out birthdays are the best kind. |
Wouldnt they be cockcakes?
|
I was envisioning

I am grateful there are no pictures of the aforementioned cockcakes. Not even in my mind's eye.

Who's got a job?
I got a job! Another one I mean. Been taken on by the Black Horse Hotel. Yeah, the place I wanted us to buy as a Cellar consortium. I'm a Black Horse whore it seems. It's all brand new, so they can't even say what shifts and when and how long. But they want me in tomorrow at 16.00 to help start the set-up. The chap I had my (very informal) interview with said that he and the owner were so impressed with my email that unless I turned up and was a complete weirdo they'd already agreed they wanted to hire me. Dear Readers, it was pretty much a normal email as far as I am concerned. Still, happy birthday to me. I have an extra job, extra money and a chance to meet more people. And NO. NO. I don't even know what the policy is on staff accepting drinks but no. Been there, done that, lost a job because of it. The temptation is always there, but I think less so when I am working, if I am conscious of the risk. Oh, this might be a bit previous (deliberate mangling of language there) but I applied to be a Specialist at work. I got the unofficial nod. I'll let you know when it's official. I'll get a City & Guilds qualification, a black apron, a payrise but best of all... loads and loads of extra knowledge and information about cheese! |

Yay!!! Sundae, you are hot, doing good. Good on you.
|
Happy times, indeed. Congratulations!
|
Happy Birthday and Congrats, Sundae!!
But stay conscious of the risk in the new job, and ditch it if it becomes a problem. Had to say it because I want to know that you are doing well and will be gracing this planet long into the future. Please don't be mad. xx |

I'm finally getting my new CPAP machine...I only did the sleep study 2 months ago!
Meanwhile, in that same time frame, the Mrs got 2 sleep studies done and has had her machine for a week. Fucking Apria... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I've lived in Kansas City for 4 years now, and have yet to meet Elspode in person...we've been friends for over 10 years, but have missed each other a few times in both STL and KC. Well, we are finally ending this problem next Saturday night, as he and the Mrs are having folks over to watch Rocky Horror and Holy Grail...w00t!
|
Excellent!
We paddled from Harpursville to Ouaquaga Bridge on the Susquehanna today. Saw an eagle, lots of ducks, too much Japanese knot weed, and a turtle pining for the fiords. We hunkered down on an island in a heavy thunderstorm under the kayaks listening to little Griff drumming and singing Linoleum. Good times. |
Japanese knot weed...
...I think I smoked some of that a few years ago. |
Today has been a good day. I've had two really good cake orders come in. Well three if you count the one I'm doing for Aden's g/f at a heavily discounted price because I want to try out a new technique. haha Went to the cake shop and got some supplies for the cake I'm doing for my brother on Tuesday, and I FINALLY received some stock that I was starting to panic about for cakes due next week!
All in all, a good day. I nearly kissed the posty. I decided not to considering the precarious state of my marriage at the moment. haha |

I had more than one birthday card.
Had more than one prize. Let's just say I'm going to be okay for quails eggs AND hot beetroot chutney this month. Oh and there is the small matter of Le Tour going through tomorrow. Colour me excited. |
Happy because Sundae's awake; I'm not alone in teh cellar!
