I receive their crap almost daily. :( |
I replaced the battery in my iPhone 4S with a $9 ebay cheapie last night. It was meticulous work, and I even bought a cheap magnification visor to enable me to see the tiny screws. But it was fairly easy. Charged the phone overnight, and the battery is performing really well this morning. My contract is up in January so I had to make this phone last until then. The original battery was basically shot. It would give me a day in standbye, or about 45 minutes of use. The new battery has given me 45 minutes this morning and is at 97%.
Please don't leave that cheapie battery charging unattended. Also don't overcharge, if you can avoid it.
Those cheapies tend to burst into flame, explode and shit. Although, I don't think they're as bad about that as they used to be. |

Lil' Pete designed a <secret>product for a challenge brought to her university by a <secret>company. She won the design challenge and now the company is pitching it to a <secret>major retailer. She knows all the players but its a secret. :)
Awesome!!
Whoa. That's badass. Will you tell us what it is once it's actually being produced?
If its produced, I'll definitely pimp it.
Fantastic!
... the designing, not the pimping. ;)
Ha!
Most excellent, Griff. :thumb:

I hope to hear more in the future. Way to go!

Thanks froods!

Had a PM from Sundae today.
All good, I hope?
Yes, she seemed positive and cheerful.
Cool!

Ebay success!
1. I ‘won’ an auction this morning. It was for a collector’s plate with an equine theme.
I bought one for a friend ten or twelve years ago, which I suspect her kids reduced to smithereens in short order. It occurred to me a couple of months back that it would be good to get hold of one for myself. Since then I’ve discovered that there are four in the series and, in the space of about six weeks, I’ve managed to find three of them. I’ll probably never find the remaining plate but such is life. I think I paid a little over the odds for today’s purchase. The starting price was a bit higher than I would have liked, but there were no other bidders so at least it didn’t go up anymore. 2. I bought a photo of the Royal Navy ship my Dad served on during the last couple of years of that unfortunate Anglo-German disagreement. The ship was struck off charge soon after WW2 whereas Dad, at eighty-nine, is still serviceable. The seller is in Florida BTW. Isn't the Interweb great? |
That is cool. :)

For example, I have *you* to thank for leading me to this. |
Spent 24 hours this past weekend in the Niagara region of Ontario ... wine country and tons of historical stuff. The War of 1812, earlier settlers and all that. Found an Irish shop with cable-knit sweaters from Ireland ... yes, I can/could knit one, and will soon, but for now I bought one in the MOST beautiful shades of green ... and had a cream scone in their tea room. A real cream scone with clotted cream and sliced strawberries and a smear of jam on an absolutely divine scone (it was better than any I've made, and ... don't know how to say this, but that's saying something).
And later, found a bakery with Scotch pies, Forfar Bridies, Cornish Pasties, and real butter tarts. The Scotch pies were not up to my great-grandmother's standard, but the Cornish Pasty was. And the butter tart ... hm. I'll have to revise my recipe. Notes to follow. |
what is the name of the bakery?
Niagara Home Bakery, Niagara on the Lake. They're on Queen Street.
I received a card from Sundae this morning.
Written with her characteristic eloquence and wit, it augers well for the future. |

Olaf from the movie Frozen.
Just quietly, I can't believe how many people haven't seen this movie. I feel like it rules every area of my life lately. haha |
I deny "Frozen" even exists. Was waaaaaaay too tired of hearing about it waaaaaay before it came out. Tired of hearing about it since, too. Still haven't listened to the song, either.
ETA: Is it too early for humbuggery? I'll just 'harrumph', then. |
Long long day at school. We have a "typical" UPK kid who is more involved than any special needs student I have. The district had an administrator in our room for half the day to make sure we are all about common core. We are still struggling to maintain an integrated feel with 2 half day special ed groups pushing into a full day upk. Bottom line the pm kids are not integrated at all for the last hour and a half. We are occasionally getting our lunch coverage, so we don't have to break state law every day. Why am I happy? I got a better gig with a smaller agency and gave notice last week.
It does seem to have got progressively more stressful for you there.
Happy you're off to pastures new mate :) |
Congrats, Griff. :thumb2:
Thanks. It seems like we're always doing stuff on the cheap and my gut says the saved money does not stay in the department.
Good for you!
Excellent.
Thanks guys!
Hooray! Hope the new place appreciates your talents more...
Well done Griff. :)
Good news, Griff. I hope the new gig works out better for you.
:cheerldr: |
Good on ya.
Hey griff, I hope all works out well for you. Sometimes it's just time for a change.
Thanks all! Money wise this is a lateral move but the work will be very interesting.

I am happy about the cakes I put out this week. The Calavera one has received excellent reviews and the customers were very happy. There is a picture in my cupcake thread if you want to see. I am just very happy with how things are going although not too impressed with the markets lately. Cupcakes are not selling as well as they used to, although my local market is still good, so I'm thinking of dropping back to just doing one per month in town here and working on cakes the other weekends.
I'm happy that Sundae called me this afternoon on Mr Bell's electric telephone.
We had an enjoyable chat and, although I always knew it, she's frighteningly well read.:notworthy |
Money wouldn't make me happy today.
Sorry, man. I hope things start looking up for you soon.
dude, you must be sick or something.
I'm getting better at programming, and that makes me pretty happy considering I enjoy it a lot.
