I'm sure they wouldn't.

A Present for All My North Calacky Friends !!!
|
Oh joyous day! My laptop has a new motherboard, courtesy of my Dell extended warranty. And this bitch is flying from task to task like it hasn't done in long time. (We're also getting a free wireless printer out of the deal, but that's because Mr. Clod is like Flint when it comes to demanding excellent customer service. He stonewalled that warranty rep like a right rat bastard.)

GCSE results for 16 year olds today.
Clever niece got all 12 A* A x 8 B x 2 C x 1 (Drama, but she's not too worried as she honestly believed she'd failed) |
Eh, she's done alright there aint she?
I am happy because today is day 1 of my 5 day holiday! Yey. I submitted my transfer docs yesterday (sample chapter of 10k words, plus a research report and thesis outline). I have no meetings until Tuesday. So absolutely nothing on for 5 days. Glorious. |
Well done, you deserve it.
Now make sure you don't waste your time on the internet. Do some really healthy things like cleaning, planning your menu for next week and shopping for fruit and vegetables. Snort. |
hahahahahahahah
Yeah. Alternatively I could finish the giant spliff I rolled for breakfast, wash it down with this here latte and then watch some classic Doctor Who... |
The other thing that is making me happy, is that the stuff i handed in was good. I still have to go through the upgrade/transfer interview (bit like a mimi-viva), so hopefully the examiners will be happy with it, but so far i think it's really good.
Pain in the arse though it's been, trying to bring everything into some sort of shape so early in the project, it's also been incredibly helpful. I feel way more confident about the possibilities for this thesis now. |

Happy Christmas Everybody!
Perhaps in an attempt to avoid the savagery of last year, we are eating out for Christmas dinner. Menu (with my choices starred). YUMYUMYUM! |
oh, sounds good sundae -- but where are the peas?!
;) We're going to avoid savagery at Thanksgiving and eat out then. We might still be awful heathens at Christmas, though, and continue to do the buffet. One Christmas we did tacos and the boys nearly fainted. HA! |
Quite right - no peas!
I might have to have a word. Traditional Christmas Dinner with no peas? Steak (my choice as starred) with no peas?! It's almost unthinkable. I could take me own though. |
Maybe they're roasting the peas to death instead of boiling them to death.

My hub wears 32/36 jeans. We haunt Goodwill because this is an odd size. We frequently score brand new or almost new jeans. Anyway today I scored a designer handbag in mint condition , retail $499. [ who pays that for a purse? ] The grand total was $2.70.
|
Awesome Nirvana! When my kids were younger Value World (Purple Heart) was the only place to shop because they were guaranteed to have pants to fit all three of them. Especially supe-skinny Hector. I just used to measure the length and waist with a pre-prepared piece of string and buy every pair that fit. and the handbag -cool find. I feel like that about hockey gear and figure skates.
|
OK, I'm happy because Hebe's High School Swim team just won their first meet by two points, and Hebe placed and scored in one of her individuals, even though she's a freshman.
AND I got word that our pool is fixed and may be open by tomorrow evening. YAY! and I have paid work. |
I'm leavin' on a jet plane............
don't know when I'll be back again ( yes I do ) |
Where you headed?
|
Saying goodbye to your holiday home?
If you're ever visiting rellies-in-law in High Wycombe do let me know. I'd be happy to hop on a bus just to shake hands and have a photo op, even if you're too pushed for time for anything else. |
I was able to eat applesauce today for the first time in 15 years.
It was tasty. |
Hooray applesauce!
I am happy because in the face of pending evacuation orders, our doctor's NY office staff worked like lightning to send out our prescription orders (and presumably everyone else's) before running out the door. |
I swimmed! In my pool! Well kinda mine. :D And I'm still pumped about Hebe's swim team experience and the whole high school thing seems to be coming together. We bought the homecoming dance ticket and class shirt and she's also decided to go the the homecoming dance of the school she is zoned for with her off-season swim team buddies, and she might even go to the homecoming game. She told me not to bother to buy her a pass for the home games/meets because she wouldn't go to enough, but I forced her and 24 hours later she's happy I did :D

I love this thread! Just reading why other people are happy makes me happy! :)

Phyllis and the Magic Community Minibus turned up unexpectedly to take us to a party 20 miles away so I didn't have to drive and could have a wee drinkie! Mahvellous!
|
The Magic Community Minibus? Were roundabouts involved? Dougal? Brian?
|
Acid?
|
that too....
|
It was a bit like that - there were the Gay Gordons, the Dashing White Sargeant, a couple of lovely songs sung by Mairi McInnes, fab food, and all around the bloomin' Heather (she was retiring). The bus is yellow and pumpkin like.
|
Having a hurricane cleaning party with offspring. Getting rid of a bunch of crap that was just taking up much needed space. Basement looks better than it has in years.
|
ok so last night was dr. froth's birthday bash concert. i planned on going to it last year when i left the last one. i got trumped at work (the track) and didn't put my request in on time. every other manager there was already going. i got stuck working. i was pissed. well more than that. i was flat out mad. now i find out they are playing again next week at the same place! SWEET! i'm SO there!!!!!! yeahuh. i'm excited!
|
Again with the mountain biking... We rode last night to avoid Irene. It was fantastic, we had to push it to get done before total darkness. We just flew down the trails in the slackening light all senses on. It was just so cool.
|
My gardening/weeding business/whatever is going well. Both clients have paid me, I have more owed, and today my second client recommended me to her boss. And it's only day 5. I get to do something I enjoy, be my own boss and get paid for it. It ain't a PhD salary, but I name my hours, my clients are word-of-mouth, and I might make enough to pay for the boys' hockey before the season disappears under the snow. Or at least for one of them.

Wonderful, Monster!
|
good job monster
for me, finally configuring this new machine to find and play .mov files in picasa. This was a major undertaking and took a lot of figuring out for me, but I'm very very happy to report that about 180 videos that were previously saved but utterly unavailable to view are now present and accounted for in my picasa library! o happy day! |

My 6 year old niece was playing in my car on Sunday. I asked if she were practicing for Homecoming Queen. Homecoming Jester will be more like it, she's very funny.
|
oh right, your car
Your Car YOUR FUCKING CAR?! Where was I when you bought a lemon sorbet coloured Beetle convertible?! You are so fucking cool. Just... leave out the "fucking" bit when you tell your nieces, okay? (but when they're old enough call me and pass the phone over - I'll say Harry Potter or quote Monty Python or whatever is cool at the time). |
That was the car I bought when my 2 week old Astra was totalled by the Punk with the Phone. I got my insurance pay out and bought the Bug used. Not nearly as practical, but look where practical got me (the Astra being my very first brand new car, was supposed to accompany me on my long commutes when I got this job.) I say it's my mid-life crisis.
It's a joy to drive in the summer. Kids everywhere yelling "slug bug!" and punching each other on the arm...or just waving and yelling 'HI' and I wave back, of course. It's not so great in winter (but not bad, with the amazing german engineering and handling and safety features) but I do love my Daisy Head Mayzie. My friends say it's 'me.' By the way, the color is Mellow Yellow. That was a selling point too, old hippy that I am. So we were talking that I should drive it for a few more years so the 11 year old niece can drive it someday. The 6 year old, pictured, said "no, it's MINE." This is the one who wouldn't go for a ride with me when I first got it because she didn't like it with the "lid" down. I still call it the 'lid.' :) (Funnily enough...the other car is my sis-in-law's brand new Honda Odyssey. She had it a week and a half before someone tore into one side of it in a parking lot...and ran. She stole my bad luck.) My nieces are dying to hear your accent. They think English accents are the be-all end-all of cool! |
Well then PM me a number, silly.
You've known me long enough that I won't drunk-dial at 02.00 your time, cursing out you and your family! Some time you know you'll all be together, let me know and I'll ramble on for a bit. Just in a furrin' accent. PS - lemon sorbet. That's not a European knowing better, it's just me deciding on a colour name.. |
egg salad

It's WAY better than all the Tweety Yellows I see around. Bleck bleh bleh.
'Sides, I'd squish Tweety's head if'n I ever saw that phony little bird. There's a bright yellow (not convertible) Bug that runs around town with Tweety stuff all over it (wow, how unique!) and I told my friends I would paint my car black and white like Sylvester and chase the Tweety car around town to see if anyone got the joke. ;) |
A really cute niece and a really cute car!!
I think it looks like Lemon Lolly Yellow! |

Cool car shaw! If I were gay.....That'd be the type of car I would drive.

Totally Gay....

And the mercenary would be my fella

You'll need a sign that says "No back seat drivers." |
Pay Day, Pay Day
Yay Yay Yay!!! Have been on a wild spending spree, buying cat litter, toothpaste and deodorant. And paying bills. But it still makes me feel good. Finally paid off Diz's vet bill. Blimey that was painful. Now Mum wants me to take him to the vet for a checkup because he occasionally urinates in the house at night. Having come up with various other ways to beat me up about it (his tray is not clean enough, my room is not clean, I haven't washed my bedding this week) she's now decided he is ill and I need an £80 consultation. Nothing to do with him being a very jealous cat and a little bully, living in the same house as another cat that he hates. No of course not. Inappropriate urination is never associated with that... Still, at least once I've beggared myself over a pointless battery of tests I'll have the peace of mind of knowing he is in rude health after all. Back to happy. Haircut tomorrow! Then back to blonde I think. Back to school on Monday for a training day so bye-bye pink at least by then. Minus pink = sad, but new hair colour almost always = happy. |
"Inappropriate urination" almost always makes me sad but not when Sundae says it.
|
I've switched from calling him a stinky poo-bum, to calling him a little wee-bandit.
It sounded nicer than little pisser. |
Dante is a bugger for pissing inside. Not like a full on flood, but marking territory.
Mum calls him a piss artist. |

lol I like.
I'm sooo happy. Soooo soo happy. I finally, on Friday, after much prevarication sent my broken i-phone4 to Apple for repairs/replacement. I'd put it off and put it off, because though unable to make voice calls I oculd still text, surf and listen to mp3s. Just answered my door to a UPS delivery: my brand new, unscratched, perfect i-phone 4. |
