Ok.
The left hand must be punished. I don't think there's a picture of my knife in that thread... I'll update it with one soon though. |

Ok so I'm a little late but YAY SHAWNEE!
Yay SG, too! Remember, at interview stage - they want to appoint you to the post so that they don't have to wonder who to appoint! You want the job, they want you to have it! Hold that thought ... ;) |
THANK YOU ALL! I'm still in shock, but as my mom pointed out on Sunday I had made it almost through the weekend without waking up so it must really be happening.
I have not officially accepted: I've thought about counter-offering but what they offered me is so amazing I can't imagine asking for more with a straight face. I just told my boss. I cried. I really really like her and she has been there for me through thick and thin. She is very supportive, though, and knows I can't pass this up. She also pointed out that they can't come close to matching it: it's more than she makes as Director. How sad this place is in some ways, and yet how much I have become attached. But it's time to move on. At the very least I will let them know again that they have pushed our department too hard, and we (now "they") need help! Still, it's a tough decision, only because of my loyalty to my boss and my cow orkers. SG--the world is our oyster, sistah! If I can do this, any of y'all can do ANYTHING! :) Thanks, my dear friends, every last one of ya, for your support! |
So now you can afford to hire some removalists to deal with HG, right?
|
The Removalists? Would make a good novel or movie.
One thing at a time, but I guess if I'm going to start dealing with stuff HG will eventually show up on the list! |
Shawnee, I just read your good news. That's awesome. I'm really happy for you. You really do deserve this better job. :thumb2:
|
I am happy for you Shawnee, you deserve it! Hopefully you can get comfy quickly at the new place.
And get a freaking lap top so we don't always just see you at work! :) Woo-hoo! (OK one step at a time here) You go girl!! I'll be the jobless loser friend over here. You can point and laugh if you want, I can take it. :) |
I have the home computer, I just don't have the internet access. It's on the list!
I wouldn't point and laugh at you. I would, however, point and laugh WITH you! :) News has traveled, I've gotten a lot of hugs and a lot of warm wishes and a lot of "we'll miss you" and a lot of affirmation that others who have moved on report that the grass really is greener. |
I bought a Honda Odyssey this weekend.
|
Sweet! Welcome to the land of minivans.
:borg: |
I'm so sorry flint...
A friend of mine has one though - she loves it. |
I understand the the Oddysey is regarded by many as the best minivan. Well done Flint.
|
Thanks. It's by far the coolest object I've ever puchased; by a factor of, like, 10 probably.
|
Hondas are great. Congrats.
|
What's funny is, I'm jealous now--because I'm not even driving it. Now I drive the '02 Accord, and the new uber-vehicle has all the carseats etc. and stays with Pooka.
|
It is an unwritten law: the woman always gets the best car. It's not unlike the man killing the bugs; we women accept the modern chivalries with pride! :)
|
Well, that's okay--she owes me, like, so many blowjobs now.
|
|
I never thought a minivan could be such a luxury... I mean this thing has leather interior, a 6 cd changer, accomidates mp3 players, has a DVD player, has temp controls for every passanger, hell it even warms your arse...
Of course it also has the car seats in it too now... which means they go where I go... there is no excape... but at least I dont have to squeeze sideways between them when we have a guest along for the ride. Its a really sweet automobile and Flint is a real sweet man for buying it for me. I'm real proud of him and all he's accomplished... he is pretty amazing. I'm pretty sure I owe him more than blowjobs... lol but I'm sure he'd be happy to capitalize on them anyway.... hahaha The car is bitchin' |
He's a man, there is nothing "more" than blowjobs!
Seriously, my brother and his wife and their 3 young ones have found the minivan to be soooo much more convenient and practical. |
Plus it will give you a place to live when you lose your home.

let's have a picture of the new family truckster then!

Good news/ bad news.
I was originally told I could move out any time, as long as I was gone by Friday evening (when the pub has it's farewell party). I chose Tuesday as one of my colleagues offered that day to move me. However she had to change her plans so I agreed Friday with her instead. So far, so logical. Except I didn't tell John, thinking it was much of a muchness to him. So I got back to the pub last night and John looked at me baffled and said, "What time are you moving?" To which I replied blithely, "Oh no, it's going to be Friday now." "No it's not," said John. I never really got to the bottom of why the room had to be vacated immediately, but it did. I managed to persuade him to make it first thing Wedsnesday morning, but I know he wasn't happy. I knew I was at fault - after all he's done I felt I let him down right at the very end. This was proved by the fact he didn't offer a singler hand this morning, whereas he usually would. So I was up at 06.45, went scouting for a shopping trolley and did the old back and forth just like last time! Gloria was in when I made my second drop off and kindly went to get her car to get the final load. The only thing left is the bookcase, but I figure John can cope with that for a couple of days (I did ask him if it was okay and he agreed). All my stuff is here at work in varying shabby piles. Diz is in the meeting room for the time being because 1) he doesn't get on with Hely and vice versa and 2) he can't be trusted not to run off now. It's not ideal - but in the end the only other thing I could have done was take the day off to move. What I've done isn't professional, but the latter would be far worse. Anyway, on to the happy part. I know the room is available - I was going over to pick the key up tonight anyway. So I'll take an overnight bag and Diz (unless I can get a lift - please, please!) and move in. The worst part of the move is done. Friday latest, Dragana will move me properly. In the mean time I've bagged up 2 black sacks of clothes for the charity shop. I've "found" some clothes in my current size that are ideal now the weather is cooling down. I've hauled everything (except the bookcase!) out of the pub and I sleep tonight in my new bed. Moving is grim, but I'm halfway there. And there's never as much of a trauma unpacking as there is packing. Now just gotta wait til the bosses arrive and see what they say... :thepain: |
Sundae-you've been thru so much, so much, and you've been nothing but graceful, kind and elegant. I am glad to say I am your friend.
Peace on you and your new place! Much happiness to be found there. |
What Bri said!
If there is anything even remotely resembling karma (though I know you don't believe in that sort of thing) your blessings should come hard and heavy, once they come. And I believe they will. |
Thanks :)
They're okay here about it - just trying to work out who is going to drive me over there. Might have to stay the night here... I'm happy because I did my business with the poop-scooper. I used cling film (saran wrap?) in the end Dropped off at the docs. |

Didn't you mention something about a company van... the time the tried to steal your ice? That would hold everything including the bookcase. |
I've got the van outside now, all loaded up.
Hurray! Just waiting for Deb to finish work (please don't let it be too late - I don't have my landlady's telephone number and don't want to start on the wrong foot!) In other news - went to HM's to collect my laptop. He has a new female lodger. Good luck to him of course, I always wondered how he would make ends meet without my financial input now he's wrking minimum wage. Interestingly, her room is untidier than mine was, despite having a real bed and shelves, and HM's set of drawers taken out of it. I wasn't snooping - I went to check the room as I wanted to double check I hadn't left anything, not realising it was occupied. Oh and the place in general is a tip. Spills on the floor, the hall & stairs not hoovered since I left (at a guess) the kitchen a mess, beer bottles all over the place (I take it she also works at his oub, he's unlikely to have got someone by advertising). And still no lights in the kitchen, no tiles on the bathroom floor, the toilet is still leaking through the living room ceiling etc etc I know I sound spiteful, but in fact I am relieved. The things I worried about are now worse. So whatever it was I did, it wasn't something we'd already clashed over, therefore there isn't anything more I could have done. I did and still do suspect that the issue was me trying to crimp his new party lifestyle, and that's just that - working an office job and a pub job means you keep regular hours and need regular sleep patterns. Living with another shift worker is obviously working for him. Right. Fingers crossed I'll be mailing from my new home in about an hour... |
Fingers crossed! :)
|
I'm going for a beer. Right now. See you all there!
|
I heard my babys' heartbeat today. Apparently it works very well. :)
|
How fast was it going and I will guess the sex?
|
I didn't ask what speed it was going, but it was a bit like this.
kathump, kathump, kathump... ;) |

What's making me happy today? all of foot's dummy threads. very nice work, foot!
|
Yes!! The spam is awesome....Maybe I complained one too many times..but this is ridiculous!
Haaa! |
Wow. I seem to have missed a bunch of stuff. I haven't been aboutmuch lately. Been logging in and just flying to one or two threads and then out.
Sundae: good luck honey. I have missed the whole flurry to move. Sounds like you've had a stressful time. Onwards and upwards :P Ali: *smiles* that's some pretty heady stuff right there. What's making me happy today: I've been awarded another prize at uni for last year's work. The Association of Women Graduates (AWG) have awarded me the 2nd Year Leeds History prize for best performing female student. |
I'm going to pick up my boys in 3 hours. That's very exciting.
|
Dana. then get your ass to the Award thread!
|
Hey SG, hang in there - you're right, the worst of the move is over, so just enjoy settling in to your new place.
I'm going through a bumpy period of change on the work front - you've just gotta focus on the positive things up ahead! |
There's an award thread now?
|
Uh yeh that guy that posted in colors and weird shit was talkin bout awards and I think it was LJ who started it in jest.

What's making me happy... Might be going out to Netherworld tonight!! (Atlanta's premier haunted house, one of the top five rated haunted houses in the country... site here www.fearworld.com
|
I prefer the nether regions, but to each his own.
|
I'm going camping in about ten minutes!!!!
|
It's Friday! And I am watching The Secret Policeman's Ball 2008.
For once I decided to do more than my usual £10 donation (given primarily to assuage my guilt and 'pay' for the super duper comedy show) and have joined Amnesty. Been meaning to do it for years. I've been pottering around the campaigning site and signed a few petitions etc. I may get more involved at some point. |

hhahahahah I loved that concert.
|
"Whats that noise from down the street?"
"Oh, that? They're holding a policeman's ball." "Ah, so that's why they wanted the pliers". |
Groan!
|
That's what the policeman was doing... between screams.
|
:cheerldr: :blah: :jig: I HAVE A VOICE TODAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!:cheerldr: :blah: :jig:

I'm finally settled.
I had a migraine that wouldn't quit on Thursday & Friday. It would have been lovely if I'd chosen to take the time off & unpack, but instead I lay here in a hot and bright room, no idea where my tablets were, no idea where my eye-mask was... And to cap it all, Diz was very unsettled and kept crying - not his fault, but I felt worse because I couldn't comfort him. As a result (I'm sure) he was sick and had diarrhea, which he tracked over the carpet and the new bedding I'd put on on Weds night (about the only thing I bothered to do). Anyway, this is the happy thread! So in fact I'm happy because I am in my unpacked room. It's clean and I have clean bedding on (the second change actually). I am online! And I have an offer of weekend work at a pub if I want it, although it's a bit far from home to be completely ideal - still, it's a start. And it is lovely and quiet here, as I hoped. The only downside I can see so far is I have The Hot Bedroom. I have switched the radiator off and it's still 23 degrees. In October! I like it about 16 for the record. I'll have to ask for a key for the window lock. Anyway, it's a cosy hideout for the winter. And I hope a bit longer - I really don't want to do all that anytime soon. Healthy living starts again tomorrow. In the meantime I am having what I feel is a well deserved beer. At home please note, not spending what I don't have in a pub. Thanks to everyone for their good wishes. |
