Ahhhhh......

Aliantha 02-04-2008 06:02 PM

All the lovely rain we've been having. I can almost hear my plants singing for joy.

xoxoxoBruce 02-04-2008 06:25 PM

I just noticed the Politics section and Entertainment section had the exact same number of threads, but the Politics section had about 8k more posts.

edit.... nevermind

We had thunderstorms and hard rain last night. It is still Winter, but the warm front and the storms made me very happy. I slept like a baby, falling asleep to the rain and the thunder. Awesome!

LabRat 02-05-2008 10:08 AM

We had thunderstorms here too yesterday morning. Very rare for Feb in Iowa...was really cool.

#1) 6-12" of snow likely by this time tomorrow.
#2) Red is coming down to go to lunch with me, and we are going to my favorite pizza joint for 1/2 price pizza day.
#3) I'm going to start swimming again for the first time in years tomorrow, depending on the weather. (See #1.) YESSSS!!!

lookout123 02-05-2008 02:57 PM

watch out, that water might be a bit chilly.

That's was I was looking forward to the other night, but we got one blast of rain and a slight rumble. very disappointing.

HungLikeJesus 02-05-2008 09:46 PM

monster, I think you're posting in the wrong thread.

monster 02-06-2008 04:54 PM

:D

BigV 02-06-2008 06:40 PM

I'm going to attend the Washington State Democratic Caucuses Coming Up on Feb. 9th, 1:00 pm. Don't bother calling, I'll be busy. Actually, I'm really stoked! I will explore what it takes to get to the National Convention as a delegate. That would be COOOOOOL!

zippyt 02-06-2008 07:23 PM

They started on our Metal roof today !!!
Standing seam ThankYou Verry Much !!!

LabRat 02-07-2008 09:20 AM

Indoor swim practice was cancelled. Got my exercise instead walking through 10 inches of snow while pulling a sled full of 55 pounds of pup repeating 'are we there yet?' the whole time to the closest sledding hill, climbing up it 50 bazillion times, then walking back home.

bbro 02-07-2008 09:28 AM

As of today, I have lost a total of 30 pounds!

LabRat 02-07-2008 09:34 AM

Way to go!!!!!

bbro 02-07-2008 09:42 AM

Thanks :D

Only 28 more pounds to go!

HungLikeJesus 02-07-2008 10:25 AM

That reminds me of a joke.

A woman says to her husband, "Honey, I lost five pounds!"

He replies, "Turn around. I think I found it."

Shawnee123 02-07-2008 10:27 AM

That joke ends with "it was a lovely funeral."

HA! I think I've heard that joke. :)

Giant Salamander 02-07-2008 11:33 PM

Today I bought two huge, Costco-sized bags of dried/moistish fruit.
Apricots and cranberries.
I will now get back in the groove of being monstrously regular, and boy will I have fun doing it. Apricots make me happy.

Do you realize quite what this means, now you are a dwellar? It's not just about pooping on time, you know..... Us monsters have to piss someone off at least once a week, pick on someone in a wheelchair every 6 months, and type like a cat on acid every third day.

DanaC 02-08-2008 05:39 AM

Which reminds me *taps desk-calendar and looks at monster meanigfully* ?

GUESS WHAT!!!

I see that stupid thing all the time, but this morning, I had my camera and was able to snap one picture before the batteries croaked on me!!

Shawnee123 02-08-2008 11:22 AM

That's funny. In Ohio, you get yellow plates for DUIs. I don't think they have vanity "party plates" though!

GR1FF!

Clodfobble 02-08-2008 02:09 PM

Wow--so, how long after the DUI conviction do you have to keep the yellow plate? That's a very interesting "public stigma" punishment.

Shawnee123 02-08-2008 02:22 PM

It's our very own Scarlet Letter.

I don't know how long they keep them.

Cicero 02-08-2008 02:39 PM

I'm not working tomorrow!!! Ha Ha!!!!!!!!!

And it's going to be my valentine's day. :)

Giant Salamander 02-08-2008 10:56 PM

The first part of that last statement would make me happy indeed.

Perhaps I can skip picking on the paralyzed and stick to my twice-a-week regiment of pissing someone off on the internet...?
Oh, I will.

zippyt 02-09-2008 11:39 AM

Thanks :) :) :)

Clodfobble 02-09-2008 02:47 PM

BigV gave me a laptop! I've progressed into the 21st Century at last!

DanaC 02-11-2008 02:32 PM

Woot! Nicely done BigV.

Aliantha 02-11-2008 06:10 PM

I just found out that even though it's raining, I'll still be getting my new bookcase. :)

Flint 02-13-2008 09:35 AM

Last night I got invited to sit in on "Avant Garde" night at a local Italian place that features live jazz. Coincidentally, the pianist lives right behind me, and we talk over the fence. So...on the first Tuesday of the month, he brings in various dudes to do an improv jam. His regular drummer also plays piano, so we could play musical chairs.

Cool. I get to jam with some jazz cats in an informal (no pressure) setting, which is nice, because I have no jazz training. I'm a jazz listener, but I've never had a jazz gig. I've been involved with gigs in many different genres, but I'm very excited to get some jazz time.

It's really hard for me to play out enough, with two small children and a full time job that I'm also on-call for. Back "in the day" I used to play out at least three or four night a week, usually three one-hour sets a night. So, it's nice to find another musical outlet. And...it's jazz!

Sundae 02-13-2008 10:54 AM

My Indian cowboy boots fit me.
When I bought them I couldn't do the zip up much past my ankle because my calves were too fat. I am wearing them today.

They're brown mock suede with sequins and jewels all over them (Indian as in the sub-continent, not as in Native American) and a small heel. I love them.

aimeecc 02-13-2008 11:21 AM

I am happy I didn't work yesterday. Everyone is saying it was a horrible commute home because of the ice/rain (they closed down portions of the interstate in order to de-ice). And I'm thankful I was not part of that.

Its rainy icey, expecting to turn to snow tonight. Should be bea-u-ti-ful!

Also, President Bush is expected to sign the stimulus package. I'm not excited about the cash, but part of it is increasing the conforming loan limit in high cost metropolitan areas. I'm going to buy a house soon, and it will really help to have the loan limit increased so I can get my entire loan at a reasonable rate.

BigV 02-13-2008 12:49 PM

An approved vacation request for Monday!

Aliantha 02-13-2008 04:55 PM

I'm happy and excited because the book launch is on tomorrow, and not only will there be local media attending, but we've just had a request for an invitation for the correspondant for THE LONDON TIMES!!! Can you believe it? This is great news.

I'm so excited!

icileparadise 02-13-2008 07:53 PM

Through the fall/winter/spring they run a 50/50 at work. The first half proceeds go to a kids Christmas party and the second half supports a Special Olympics bowling league.

I've been buying tickets every week and putting the name of a woman at work, that's going through her third series of chemo, radiation, surgery, on them. Today she won $497.

Aliantha 02-16-2008 01:35 AM

my hangover seems to have dissipated.

skysidhe 02-16-2008 02:50 AM

I was hired today by an employer I had 6 years ago.

One job, full time, full benefits, retirement, summers off.
Thanks god. :ipray:

You know one is happy when a godless heathen gives thanks.

Cicero 02-16-2008 02:05 PM

Hey!!! I might be getting a computer today! I will be able to get online at home again!!! (I have one but it's old and very sad, I just stare at it)
I will be able to download photos again!!! Woo-hoo! I might even get those secret santa photos posted!! I might even be able to drink beer and chat too!

It's a hand me down but it might be decent enough to run some programs I need! We shall see!!

I'm going to go buy an awesome monitor. Even if the comp. sucks I'll need a good display monitor later!!!

Sorry about the exclamation points. Just happy....:) If I had a tail it would be wagging... People are so freakin' nice sometimes.....free expensive programs? Thaaank you very much.

This person is giving me a computer and helped make one of my favorite films of all time...Major brownie points.

Cloud 02-16-2008 02:06 PM

went straight from coffee to beer today. can't wait to chat with Cicero at home on her new comp. :)

Cicero 02-16-2008 02:15 PM

lol! I don't think I'll have internet access at home again by today...The whole place is going wireless...I need to get the comp. wireless ready! And see if the wireless was installed.

Beer already?!? I am so jealous right now....Now when is this guy going to get here with the computer...oh jeez...getting impatient...just excited..I'll call and see what's up with the wireless at home, I mean, what are we a coffee shop now?!? I don't want people in our parking lot with their laptops using our wireless.....That's just weird. :)

lol Cloud...drunk already. That's awesome. If you didn't have too much (more than one beer depending on your weight) you should go rent "The Holy Grail". Hell, and "The life of Brian". Make it a marathon. Whatever.:)

Oh and get in chat first.
