My wife got a new phone and gave me her old phone, which is almost exactly like my old phone, except it has bluetooth.

With that, I am able to synchronize the phone with my Outlook address book and connect a bluetooth headset. But the most useful feature is that I'm able to connect my laptop to the phone and get high(er) speed internet access. (Our dial-up connects at about 24 kBps, and this connects at 60-120 kBps.) I don't know if I'm incurring additional charges through the cell phone.

Tink 02-18-2008 01:15 PM

A new mouse for my computer! Finally! Nothing like having it lock up on you literally 30+ times a day and having to disconnect and reconnect it to the system. GOD!

TheMercenary 02-18-2008 05:54 PM

I am more than half way through this God awful shift.

monster 02-18-2008 06:27 PM

Which god-awful shit?

jinx 02-18-2008 06:30 PM

shift

monster 02-18-2008 06:31 PM

ah

TheMercenary 02-18-2008 06:42 PM

11 more hours and off to the next one.

classicman 02-18-2008 06:42 PM

... and I was right there with you monster

Clodfobble 02-18-2008 09:06 PM

My random, inexplicable and very frustrating computer problem suddenly fixed itself, just as inexplicably, at a time when I was doing absolutely nothing with it. I don't know what was wrong, but it's better now!

TheMercenary 02-19-2008 10:48 AM

Working for 3 hours, getting paid for 8. Headed home.

Really? Because that computer I was all excited about doesn't even work and now I'm going to have to crack that stupid egg open.
:sniff:

Arsenal and AC Milan kick off in 15 minutes. Although I think Milan will best the gunners over two legs I just want this challenge behind them.

BigV 02-20-2008 02:18 PM

My coffee cup has returned.

**Somebody** found it in the sink. How it got there is a mystery. It's a black coffee cup, with a colorful design on the outside. Why someone felt compelled to carry it to the sink and wash it is unknown.

It's back. I'm drinking my coffee from it. I'm happy.

I got the (provisional) results through for last semester's modules. These marks incorporate the assigments and the exams. The ones I was tearing my hair out over and generally felt I'd royally fucked up. Not so *grins widely* not fucked up at all! Out of three modules I was the highest scoring in two and the joint highest scoring in the third (with one other person).

They have to go for second marking to an external marker yet and there is occasionally a little drift in the marks but anything more than a small variance would trigger a third marking and is quite unusual.

Now....I just need to not fuck this semester's modules up (currently am not exactly up to date with where I should be in my assigments at this point if I want to get them in on time) and the year will have been a good one :) Of course...bit stressful since I'm up for election this year and my campaign runs through the busiest part of the semester when all the assignments come due lol. Also this semester I opted for heavily research based modules which makes it harder to just cram up for a few days and write essays on the hoof!

limey 02-21-2008 04:44 PM

WTG Dana! (woot?)

Aliantha 02-21-2008 04:48 PM

My husband is coming home tonight. :)

Cicero 02-21-2008 05:57 PM

Congratulations Ali, and bom-chika-bow-wow!
:)

Aliantha 02-21-2008 06:00 PM

bom chika might happen, but it's not entirely certain. Our boys are having a couple of friends over for a sleep over tonight, so conditions may not be optimum. ;)

Aliantha 02-21-2008 06:02 PM

Oooh...another thing that's making me happy today is all my veges and stuff have arrived this morning, and I have all the other things I need to start getting fit and healthy now.

One last weekend of dairy and that's it for me. No more Ms Spoil Yourself anymore. It's time to get serious! :)

Yea, and getting paid for all 5 hours as well. Not a bad job if you can get it.

elSicomoro 02-21-2008 08:31 PM

I worked just under 8 hours today at 2 stores during a steady sleet and snow, made $160 and was back at home before 7pm. I can't complain.

Trilby 02-21-2008 08:36 PM

I think that prof who kicked me out of class is gonna reap the whirlwind. Seems there are policies against what he did and its outta mah hands, sistah!

binky 02-21-2008 08:56 PM

Its called Karma, Bri :)

Ha! I figured! That's good to hear.

Cicero 02-22-2008 01:12 PM

heh he.
Good.

Shawnee123 02-22-2008 02:41 PM

One of the Wigs of Big just told us we should all head home, a bad storm is aheadin' our way. Wow. Usually every school in the state will close but us!

Another one? we had two snow days this week--Wednesday and today!

Shawnee123 02-22-2008 02:53 PM

Seriously, we didn't close either of those days. We did close a couple days last year when it was really bad out. If the pres is in town he won't close for anything. If the VP is making the decision they might close. I guess it's getting really bad. My bosses boss just came to my office and said get the heck outta here.

Have a good weekend everyone! Bri, stay warm you Ohio girl, you!

TheMercenary 02-22-2008 05:46 PM

It was in the 70's last weekend here. We are in a rain storm and temps are hovering in the low 60's but it will be back up to 75 by Sunday and down to the 50's by Thursday. Winter be gone. Spring is just around the corner! :D

Aliantha 02-22-2008 05:58 PM

It's already 33 degrees celcius (91.4F) here and it's not even 10am yet.

I think it's going to be hot hot hot!

DanaC 02-23-2008 07:50 AM

Outstanding news Bri! *does the happy dance* And good that it's out of your hands too. Making waves and going after someone is stressful, and frankly your life sounds stressful enough at present :P This is nice and simple: he's broken the rules and as such will be pursued by the relevant authority. Excellent.

DanaC 02-23-2008 07:55 AM

Already posted a fuller update in the unhappy thread but: Pil's feeling better :) He's still poorly and will be on medication for a week, but definately on the mend. He is currently camped out in front of the biscuit cupboard playing the sympathy card, so getting back to normal *grins* and when i was eating my breakfast (sausage, egg beans and toast) he was very interested in the contents of my plate.

The vet shaved off the fur where the swelling is and it's fucking huge, but has now burst :greenface and has started to slowly reduce. He's definately feeling better ( temp is down to 102) and it's definately a cyst and nothing more sinister, so am feeling hugely relieved.

Nooo. Not me. His butt should have been kicked immediately.
:D
Just because that didn't happen doesn't mean I can't be happy that at least some justice is being served.
Oh that does make me happy today. Thank you for the reminder!

Just got a new car! Honda Civic Hybrid! Very quiet, very cool. And the dashboard is all futuristic and stuff.

jinx 03-01-2008 07:25 PM

Congratulations! What color?

Cool. Feel all Buck Rogers? :)

Clodfobble 03-01-2008 08:59 PM

Nice! My mom has a silver one and she loves it.

Happy Monkey 03-01-2008 11:39 PM

"Atomic blue", which is closer to white than blue. I'm not really sure what color to put on forms.

xoxoxoBruce 03-01-2008 11:43 PM

I read the hybrid is much faster, and loads more fun, than the regular Civic. Have a ball.

Griff 03-02-2008 06:42 AM

Can you start a thread to review it? I'd like to hear how it works out for you.

Cloud 03-02-2008 07:36 PM

Wow. Got "the box" and did my complete tax return, including e-filing it, in half an hour. Soooo much easier than doing it by hand like I have been doing it's not funny.

And I even got a refund this year--first time in years and years. Only $150, but still!

I'll try. Work has been interfering with my Cellar time, though.

Cloud 03-02-2008 11:50 PM

'magine that!

elSicomoro 03-03-2008 01:05 AM

Nothing in particular...just feel good right now. I had a productive weekend, but still made time to relax. Later in the week, I'm going to buy a bass guitar, and hopefully Sycamore (the band) will have some music up on MySpace in the next month or two.

(Shameless plug: If you have MySpace, please friend the band. :))

binky 03-03-2008 09:18 AM

Yayy!! Daughter's bread mold experiment for science fair is finally off to school and out of my kitchen - that stuff can really stink after 2 weeks

Cloud 03-03-2008 09:26 AM

LOL! Should have let her culture sourdough starter--at yeast you could make bread from that. :)

Trilby 03-03-2008 10:10 AM

RUSH is on the radio.

Is that geeky, to like RUSH?

Is it geeky to be listening on a radio?

binky 03-03-2008 10:14 AM

true she loves sourdough bread, but that wouldn't turn green, orange and black

DanaC 03-04-2008 06:12 AM

I had to hand a project proposal in on Friday last. It's worth 30% of the module's final mark. I have never done a project proposal before...hell I never even plan essays I just hold it all in my head and write off the cuff from the notes I've taken, with the essay or research project kind of taking shape around me...found it really hard to plan in advance what the project was and where it was going to go. Anyway...I also had a second assignment to hand in on Friday and had spent about a day and a half of available time doing that (an article review) which was much easier...and only worth 5% of that module's final mark.

Got to Thursday last week, having had evening meetings every night that week and was really struggling with the proposal. Could really have done with some extra time on it...then discovered I'd got the dates wrong on the article review, wasn't in til friday after...could have had the extra day and a half to use on the really difficult and more important proposal! Threw an all nighter and just about managed to get it in under the door of the 12:00 deadline....

I wasn't at all happy with it. Was really worried I'd dragged my overall mark down with it in a module that I really want to do well in...

Got my mark today *does the happy dance* A High First :) All that worryin' for nowt! Now all I gots to do is pull the project itself together into a wiki site.......

LabRat 03-05-2008 09:41 AM

OH Yeah!!!

Girl Scout cookies showed up today. Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Sandwiches. Mmmmmmmm....

Aliantha 03-05-2008 04:32 PM

Tomorrow we're going to look at a property a couple of hours north. I hope it's as good as it looks in the pics.

Clodfobble 03-05-2008 06:05 PM

I just found a baby monitor that can do multiple rooms (i.e., multiple kids) on a single receiver! And, unlike every other monitor we've tried so far, it doesn't have constant interference inside our house.

Cloud 03-05-2008 07:04 PM

absolutely nothing. Rotten fucking day. missiles launching!

Cicero 03-08-2008 04:48 PM

Remember this?!?
http://www.cellar.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=1258

Well...the computer didn't work that I was given. That was pretty disappointing, but

:D
Today I'm buying myself a computer!!! A new one! I have never had a new computer or one that wasn't put together by random parts just to get on the internet (nice friends bless 'em).....

Ooooh a computer that isn't out-dated by 7 years just for me! Finally!YEAH!

I'm actually going to buy it right now. See ya!!!
Did I say woo-hoo? Well woo-hoo!
