Just got my new Chucks and I am stoked.

HungLikeJesus 06-14-2010 11:34 PM

We used to have a ground hog called Chuck. He lived in our hedge.

jinx 06-14-2010 11:37 PM

We have one living under our shed. She had a baby this year... cutest thing everrrrr.

squirell nutkin 06-15-2010 12:36 AM

Until they decimate your garden...

HungLikeJesus 06-15-2010 09:26 AM

Ground hog Chuck wouldn't do that.

squirell nutkin 06-15-2010 09:38 AM

*sigh* the parents are always the last to know...

The jet ski works after sitting for nearly a year and having no real maintenance other than a new battery a month ago.

HungLikeJesus 06-17-2010 11:52 PM

I was outside throwing knives and a big deer walked right behind the target.

Shawnee123 06-18-2010 09:26 AM

"outside throwing knives" all casual-like, like you were hanging laundry.

I'm happy because tomorrow I am going to see The Family of the Opera. That's what the 4 year old niece calls it...she's seen the movie I guess, but is a bit young to sit still in a theater for that long. The almost 10 year old doesn't want to go, she thinks it's scary. The 8 year old is going, as is my brother and mom. It's going to be so fun!

HungLikeJesus 06-18-2010 09:34 AM

Make sure you get pictures.

and toast. I like the toast today. It's magical. Some days the toast is merely adequate so today is a Red Letter Day for the toast chef.

Nirvana 06-19-2010 12:36 PM

I have painted all my nails, toes and fingers without a smudge! Yay!

Undertoad 06-20-2010 10:28 AM

My band was just asked to play a house party in Jersey today... for $1000! It's really late notice but we're gonna get it together.

Some people still have money in this economy.

monster 06-20-2010 11:05 AM

Awesomes, UT! Congrats!

Undertoad 06-20-2010 11:13 AM

Aw hell, just as quickly it's off! I don't even know what happened, just got a text saying gig's off today... fawk that was good money on the table..

Griff 06-20-2010 11:18 AM

Ouch, grab the cash quicker next time.

Father's Day - Pete did the chores. Mountain biking today, I was fast. My fellows said some very nice things about my kids and I reflected on that on my drive home. Now I'll get those paint brushes out.

Griff 06-20-2010 11:34 AM

Add on- Two Dispatch albums from the girls, nice.

Lamplighter 06-20-2010 12:13 PM

Found this one today and it made me smile:

glatt 06-23-2010 09:40 PM

xoxoxoBruce 06-24-2010 01:34 AM

skysidhe 06-26-2010 11:26 AM

My mom is this close >< to being accepted into an assisted living spot.

I have got my fingers and toes crossed and the toes crossing hurts a bit.

Trilby 06-26-2010 11:42 AM

Lamplighter 06-26-2010 12:38 PM

I'm happy today because brother-in-law just left after a 3-day visit...

Not because he's gone, but because he finally found employment after a 24+ yr stint in the (JAG core) Army. He and his wife (also a 20 yr vet) retired and they both have had a hard time finding work in their field. But things are looking up now. Yea !

lookout123 06-26-2010 12:51 PM

Lil Lookout showed up for his 8AM game to find the other team didn't show up. Not a single one of them. Bastards.

However, on an adjacent field there were a field of 14 year old girls that had the same problem. The coaches talked and decided the 9 and 10 year old boys would play the 14 year old girls. The girls went easy on them for the 18 seconds it took for S****** to score then they started playing the boys hard. Lil Lookout had 3 goals and 1 assist in their 6-3 victory. The girls and their parents were good sports about it and congratulated the boys.

skysidhe 06-26-2010 12:52 PM

I am happy for them Lamplighter! Good news!

haha lookout,...great story! :)

BigV 06-27-2010 10:46 PM

HungLikeJesus 06-27-2010 10:51 PM

BigV 06-27-2010 10:56 PM

School and the children are making my happy today.
We've been learning pirate songs to sing after school - we're selling Treasure Hunt Maps for a real treasure hunt, although the correct entries go into a draw, rather than treasure being buried! This is to raise funds for a Pirate Party at the end of term.

Also, the children know it is my birthday this week as I am going in Monday and Wednesday rather than my usual Friday. They can't quite grasp the Wednesday things (my birthday's on Friday, but the class is taken by a different teacher and TA on those days) but they are excited anyway.

Attached, my first card.

Translated (except for my name):

To Miss Only, This is your surprise. Have an awesome party with your friends. May all your wishes come true. You're an excellent helper, thank you. From -------
PS sorry about the front cover [it's a piece of card which already has printing on it]

Clodfobble 06-28-2010 03:56 PM

That's very sweet, Sundae!

Undertoad 07-01-2010 10:03 AM

My lead singer has accepted a position as manager of Eclipse, a quite good Pink Floyd tribute band. I think this will mean good things for him, and in turn, good things for our band too.

skysidhe 07-01-2010 10:11 AM

yay UT, good times for you all!

classicman 07-01-2010 11:03 AM

congrats to all then.

Googling an old college friend some time ago I noticed that he plays sax (as he always did) in a Floyd tribute band, in Cleveland.

That ain't no easy music to play.

Yeah, the guy I had a Bacon Beagle Burger with! One of my best (and purely platonic) friends from college. We and 4 others spent a fun weekend at Lake Cumberland the year he (and the two other guy friends) graduated. The other two were my roommate and our friend from Buffalo. What a great time!

I can't wait to someday see your band, UT.

Lamplighter 07-03-2010 11:24 AM

I just finished doing some minor re-adjustment to the landscape in our front yard.
Feels good to get something done now that the rains have let up a bit.

I ended up doing it all by hand + shovel and rake, not the rototiller

Lamplighter 07-05-2010 10:11 AM

Over the past several days our Lab, Vicky, started barking at every little noise, especially late at night when it was quiet outside.
Come Friday, the 2nd, she was getting to be a real mess with people starting with fireworks and we were dreading the 4th.

So Saturday morning we made a new game.
My wife and I would randomly yell "Bang" or "Pop" or drop a pan, slam a door, etc. Each time Vicky would get a small piece of dog biscuit treat and a lot of reassurance. For Labs, food takes priority over every other activity in the brain.

Well, she made it all the way thru the 4th as a calm and collected dog.
She even slept right thru the random fireworks that went off after midnight.

Yea Vicky ! Yea us... we got some sleep too.

HungLikeJesus 07-05-2010 09:50 PM

We just got back from Santa Fe, NM. It was a nice weekend.

It was inexpensive, too, until we walked in to Momeni's Gallery on Don Gaspar street and walked out with two rugs that some guys in Afghanistan spent eight months sweating over.

Not perfect but not the one I was unhappy with earlier this week.

BigV 07-08-2010 03:30 PM

Midday picnic tomorrow. I'll be bringing the champagne.
