Easy breezy 33 hours this week.
Coulda shoulda woulda been more, but I didn't turn anything down. Admit it's been a walk in the park and am acclimatising to the longer shifts. Checkouts are now head-hunting me, and they seem to know shortfalls in their rotas well before Counters, so that is where I am doing my overtime. Don't get me wrong, I still love the customer interaction and specialism on Deli. But it's so hectic and people can sometimes be very impatient, to the point of being rude. I'd never want to work checkout as my main job, but as a filler to rack up my hours it's better than having someone shout, "EXCUSE ME? Is anyone serving on here?" when you actually have a spit of rotisserie chickens in your oven-gloved hands  I do seem to be fitting in though. One of the young lads told me I was his favourite new starter for ages. And when I say young lad I mean I wouldn't even have had to start early to birth him. He just likes me because I'm as rude as he is. Need to keep reminding him my name is not Sherry/ Cherie though. Mebbe I should change my name to Jane. No-one can get that wrong, Shirley? Only three hours today, but it's time and a half. |
Excellent!

Lovely chat with Sundae on the phone this morning :)

Thanks hon, proper made my morning too.
Back from work, what a super sweet short shift (3 hours). I felt as if I'd just gone in to do my shopping or something. I can't believe my usual shift used to be 3.5 hours... |
My nephew, the first louie in the USMC, was home briefly, so they had a small family party for him at brother and sis-in-law's home.
I got to swim and hang out with not only the young adult faction of my nieces and nephews, but also with the younger faction of my nieces. Swimming was especially fun. I'm really proud of all of them. My just turned 9 year old niece and I had a great time in the pool. And my almost 3 year old great-niece and I have totally bonded. What's better than a 3 year old telling you she loves you? Not much. And they all told me that, ages irrelevant. I miss my mom, because she would have loved today, but I'm so thankful my dad was there and enjoying the family he helped create. And that ain't all he creates...we were surrounded by woodwork he's done. He's so awesome. I'm a lucky girl. Plus, they're all so funny. I listened to the young adult faction and laughed so much...and I used the line about how I could be a young person were it not for my age. These are memories I will keep close to my heart. Yeah, I'm a lucky girl. :) |

Sounds like a perfect day IM.
I am happy about mav buying himself a car today. He saved hard. $4k in a little over a year. Anyway, i am very proud of him. :) |
Sounds awesome Infi.
Life is all about paying attention as moments like that are happening and making sure you enjoy them. Moments like that aren't exactly rare, but they happen infrequently enough that it's good to be mindful when they do. :) |
Congrats to Mav. His first car? He'll remember it forever.

I hope he has more luck with his than Aden did. The clutch failed, then a week after that was repaired he crashed it. He's decided not to fix it. just trade it in when he's got some dosh together. It still runs, so he might get something for it.
