I am on vacation.

I have been fed, roast beef and home fries. Meat and potatoes, very very hard to beat. I've had a drink. I"m hanging out with SonofV, we'll be watching MST3K shortly.

Life is good.

footfootfoot 12-10-2010 12:04 AM

Manos Hands of Fate!!!

monster 12-13-2010 08:44 AM

Got my daughter a ticket for the Redwings game tonight! It won't be in my grubby hands until this afternoon, but no reason to believe this won't happen.....

sob story here

Undertoad 12-13-2010 11:05 AM

The first website of my new small biz try is up. This site took about one hour to create and that's the whole point. $299 for a single page with a menu JPG or PDF. It's all that small pizzerias need, so the search engines pick up with phone number and address as authoritative. Search is local now!

charlie's pizzeria

skysidhe 12-13-2010 11:16 AM

look great!

I'll take one large pizza, thin crust, extra sauce,cheese, mushrooms,olives and onions. Delivered please.

HungLikeJesus 12-13-2010 11:44 AM

Very good, UT, but I couldn't find the free sample button.

Lamplighter 12-13-2010 12:07 PM

The black and white photo with RED SIGN is very effective.

Is that just for "Charlies" or can it be a default for your sites ?

Undertoad 12-13-2010 12:53 PM

I want to personalize each site, even if it takes only an hour to put together.

Having a photo of the actual storefront is part of the idea -- something I'll try to do on every site with a business that has such a storefront. You want people to recognize them.

Now, in the case of Charlie's, after I looked at the photos I took, it occurred to me that their location is their biggest asset. They are right on Philadelphia's very heavily-traveled Roosevelt Boulevard. People who drive the Boulevard see Charlie's every day. And if they drive it at night, that neon will be the thing they remember. In fact Charlie's does all of its business at night -- they open at 4PM.

And they're a tradition -- they've been open since 1946. People's families have eaten here for generations. Families that go so far back, their kids only have black and white photos of them.

So, now, look at it again with ALL that in mind -- where can you get traditional pizza on Roosevelt Boulevard at night?

glatt 12-13-2010 01:29 PM

It's good. Simple and elegant, and covers all the important details.

Undertoad 12-14-2010 03:43 PM

If you have a place with a bigger menu that you want to be searchable, so people can find a buffalo chicken stromboli on rising sun avenue... it takes a little longer to build that site.

Aliantha 12-14-2010 04:37 PM

Being mostly ready for Christmas. Just finished the cake yesterday and only have one more present to buy and I'm done. I might even get to the post office today! Also, I've got everything ready (except for my personal clothes) for our camping holiday which starts next Wednesday.

Footlong cheese steaks for only $5! That's a good deal.

You might have to explain what popperonis are. I don't think we have those in Colorado.

Do you have any way to determine if they have any increase in business as a result of the website? That would be a useful tool, for you and for the business.

plthijinx 12-14-2010 08:24 PM

transmission replaced. total cost? 425 bux. 350 for the tranny, however much for the filter and 35 bucks for the 2 gallon 1-1/2 pints of fluid. i'm mobile again!!

HungLikeJesus 12-14-2010 08:45 PM

plthijinx - have you read Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah?

You might want find it useful.

monster 12-14-2010 08:58 PM

The rest of my family are playing with their indoor RC flying things. They are happy and not squabbling. Some of them should be in bed. tough! They squabble in their sleep, I prefer this, white noise and all.

I'm not sure the pricing is done. When I looked, everything past the first page was 5 dollars. :D

Mrs. Mia Wallace: A five dollar shake.
Buddy Holly: How do you want that shake: Martin and Lewis or Amos and Andy?
Mrs. Mia Wallace: Martin and Lewis.
Vincent Vega: Did you just order a five dollar shake?
Mrs. Mia Wallace: Ummhh.
Vincent Vega: That's a shake . . . that's milk and ice cream.
Mrs. Mia Wallace: Last I heard.
Vincent Vega: That's five dollars? You don't put bourbon in it or nothin'?
Buddy Holly: No.
Vincent Vega: Just checking.

~~~~~
Vincent Vega: Goddamn, this is a pretty fu**ing good milkshake.
Mrs. Mia Wallace: Told ya.
Vincent Vega: I don't know if it's worth five dollars, but it's pretty fu**ing good.
footfootfoot 12-15-2010 09:38 AM
Just got back from my MRI and they gave me a disc of my images. Apparently we are filled with guts.
Undertoad 12-15-2010 09:46 AM
BigV 12-15-2010 11:54 PM
a productive day
got some computers back on the rails. fired comcast *and* got their stupid equipment back to them. freed up a couple cubic yards of space previously consumed by some boxes I'd been hoarding for a friend who's moving this month. shhh.... picked up a very hard to find surprise christmas present for s-o-n-o-f-v. *whistles innocently* hehehe... bought a case of 5W-30 and a gallon of washer fluid for my trusty steed. (last night) I got the chance to do a good deed for one of my local retailers.
easy dinner. hot buttered rum for beverage/dessert (maybe two, we'll see).
I really liked firing comcast the best.
BigV 12-16-2010 12:04 AM
yep. Two. :hic:
Vindicated. Got the report from the doc re: MRI.
full thickness tear in one of the ligaments and some cysts on the bone head.
So stuff your PT.
SamIam 12-16-2010 09:49 AM
Ooooh! You're happy about a tear in one of your ligaments and cysts? :eek: Sounds VERY painful to me. Are they giving you any good drugs?
footfootfoot 12-16-2010 09:54 AM
No, just happy that I've been vindicated. All along I've been told that it's nothing, I just need to exercise it, etc. And the chronic pain has been poo-pooed for 2 or 3 years.
No drugs, don't really like them.
Shawnee123 12-16-2010 10:08 AM
Awww, if you look close you can see his widdle pee-pee.
Ooops, sorry, thought it was an ultrasound. :blush:
:lol2:
skysidhe 12-16-2010 01:29 PM
I've discovered that if you are stoic regarding your pain, then your screwed with the doctors. Unless you are crying, winching and moaning and groaning they tend to dismiss you. grr doctors. Sometimes they need a poke in the eye.
Ye Olde Yule Log Now Blazes in 3-D
But it does exist and it can be seen, albeit only through special 3-D glasses.
If you watch the 3-D yule log on an HD television without the special glasses,
what appears after all the warnings are two identical images of the fire,
one over the other, which at best make viewers think they have had way too much to drink.
kerosene 12-25-2010 09:47 PM
So happy for you plt! You deserve it!
Shawnee123 12-25-2010 10:34 PM
Today: great family, mom and dad and brothers and sisses-in-law and grown kids and little kids and other family members and friends and neighbors.
Had my other MRI today (on my really f/u shoulder)
Sundae 12-28-2010 02:16 PM
When Dad came home from football (part of his Christmas present from my sister) I left a cup of tea for him and Mum in the kitchen. I was in there anyway, making a sandwich to sneak up to my room and eat alone.
When Dad came up to swap over the cats two hours later he thanked me.
It's a small thing, but it's the first we've spoken since Christmas Day.
He's the less intractable of the two, but I'm glad to have this first sign of a thaw anyway.
Oh and my Secret Santa FINALLY arrived. Which makes me feel like I've swallowed the sun.
