That's great! I was just looking at the pictures and you look like you had a great time.

Aliantha 08-02-2012 10:31 PM

Tonight is the last round of footy for the season. I love watching the boys play, but being manager of the team sucks balls, specially since the kids are in the oldest junior div at the club and all the parents are sick of volunteering so sit on their arses and avoid helping out as much as possible!

Not doing it next year if my boys even play. They're both contemplating giving it a miss because they think their time would be better spent studying. As a parent, I have been happy to hear this.

Razzmatazz13 08-02-2012 10:58 PM

I got my stitches out! Woo! Now if my finger would only heal up so I could type without issue..

ZenGum 08-03-2012 08:56 AM

What did you do to your finger, Razz?

We need to know so we can not be sorry about it. ;)

zippyt 08-03-2012 01:51 PM

Clodfobble 08-04-2012 08:30 PM

On vacation at the beach, same place as last year, courtesy of my mom. The condo ain't luxurious (last year we had to repair a major part of the fridge interior with duct tape, and a year later our duct tape creativity is still there... but they did improve the broken bed frame, in that what used to be propped up with books is now held up with a few pieces of two by four.) But it's awesomely relaxing and that's all that matters. Mr. Clod and my stepdaughter are doing all the cooking, except for the two little ones, and my mother and mother-in-law keep doing all the cleaning, and the hammock on the porch is perfect.

Razzmatazz13 08-04-2012 09:56 PM

Zen, I have terrible clumsy luck. I was getting knives out of the dishwasher (without pulling the bottom drawer fully out) and as I was lifting my arm up they caught on the dishwasher which made the steak knife come to an abrupt stop while my hand continued to move along it. It wasn't SUPER deep (can still move my finger thankfully) but since it was a serrated knife and it cut right on a joint they stitched it so I wouldn't keep breaking open the scabs.

BUT after getting the local I couldn't straighten it the whole way for the girl to stitch it so it healed partially bent. I have to stretch it verrryyyy slowly back to normal function which is why it hurts to type...I can't straighten it enough to use the top row of keys yet.

ZenGum 08-04-2012 11:20 PM

Razz ... thanks for the story, but we're not sorry about ur fingr. ;)

Razzmatazz13 08-04-2012 11:23 PM

It's ok my husband wasn't sorry either. After the bleeding stopped he kept laughing:rolleyes:

Gravdigr 08-05-2012 12:29 PM

Aspirin and water, lots of water.

I'm not quite happy yet, but, I'm getting there.

:D

I have realised (again) how horribly remiss I've been in posting pics of presents received.
I do not deserve ever to receive any more ever.
So just cold hard cash in future.

No, I do feel bad, because each was chosen with care and say as much about the sender as they do about me as a recipient.

First from Ms Lola.
A teeny tiny torch.
Now she let me know what it was, because she hoped I might be able to use it on the Midnight Walk. The post let us down though.
When it arrived I admit I goggled at it. I don't know if this is a common item in the US, but I have never seen such a tiny torch with such a strong light.

I had a "credit card" torch - more or less the size & shape of a credit card, funnily enough - but you had to apply pressure for light and it was dim, like seeing things underwater. It did me well for about 2 years until the battery went, for looking in my bag for keys and all that.

Beside my bed I have a kinetic torch (a panda, in Sarge's honour) so I never have to worry about finding a battery has run out if I wake up during a power cut. They come in the mornings, believe me. But again, it does not have a powerful light - enough to read by (just) or avoid the cat by, but not to make light.

So this little powerhouse has blown me away. It lives in a zip up pocket in my bag that I previously had no use for. That way I know where it is. It's already been called on to find balls, paperwork, check under and over and all that. But I see it coming into it's own if I am in need of proper room-lighting. I could send an SOS to a helicopter with this baby.

Thanks chick - it's very like you :)

And a lovely set of yummies from Clod.
Will you believe I have not eaten the bars yet?
I think I'm saving them for something special, but I'm not sure what.

For those who don't recognise the brand, they are gluten-free, Kosher, free from all artificial of colourings, additives, and preservatives and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. I except they do taste good though, given the sender!

Mum had her beady eye on them when they arrived. NO. They are currently living in the top part of my wardrobe (where I keep some dry cake ingredients/ pans etc to stop Dad moaning that I have taken over all the cupboards).

As well as these I have a silicone mould for making cake pops and sticks to go with them.
These I am definitely saving during the school holidays. I will start practising before I go back, so I can present them with something accomplished :)

Thank you darling. Sweet treats for me and others.

Clodfobble 08-06-2012 10:22 PM

Larabars are awesome, I do hope you like them. I buy them by the box and keep a minimum of two in my purse at all times. They have about a dozen different flavors, but truth be told I don't love all of them, only about half. So if you do hate them, there's still a chance we just have opposite tastes and you might like one of the kinds I don't like. :)

Sundae 08-07-2012 03:24 PM

I've researched.
Some have peanut butter or banana in them.
You can keep those, even when the end times come.

I will post a full taste-review before that, I promise.

Lola Bunny 08-15-2012 07:01 PM

I'm sorry that I missed your post. So glad that you like it and found some use for it. Some of my gfs outright opposed the idea of receiving a flashlight from me, so I decided to impose it on you, hehe. I didn't realize I could pick the color of the light until the order has been processed and shipped, otherwise I would've picked the pink one for you.

Found out today that Minifobette's teacher will be the long term sub we had last year while her old teacher was out on maternity leave. She's great, so now I'm only left biting my nails over which teacher Minifob will get... Won't get that answer until Tuesday.

orthodoc 08-17-2012 10:56 PM

I'm happy tonight because I'm visiting with two of my sons tonight and seeing my third son tomorrow ... and my daughter next weekend! She came home safely from Mexico after flying through a hurricane.

I have never gotten used to the Brits calling a flash light a torch, though I can understand why. It ruins all the good light puns.

I was going to ask, "How heavy is that light?

Aliantha 08-18-2012 05:05 PM

We call them torches over here too...

!!!

Her name wouldn't be Dorothy, would it?

Aliantha 08-19-2012 03:18 AM

I had a really nice day with the kids today.

We had lunch with Mav's gf's family for her birthday, then I took all the kids to Max Brenner, which is a place that makes all things chocolate. I decided to blow my GDM off for the day and just enjoy myself with the kids. Dazza was actually able to meet us at MB, so that was nice. Now he's gone fishing, the big boys are studying, Max is watching a couple of kids shows and I'm checking out the cellar (and FB).

All in all, a pretty good day. :)

morethanpretty 08-19-2012 06:31 AM

I started Nuvigil, its an anti-narcolepsy drug for people with excessive sleepiness. So far it seems to be helping me feel more alive without any nasty side effects (cross my fingers). Y'all might have noticed me not being very active here lately, mostly cuz I've been sleeping my free time away.

Aliantha 08-19-2012 05:46 PM

Every time I hear the word narcolepsy (which is really not very often lol) I think of the Deuce Bigalow movies. :) I know it's not a laughing matter, so I'm glad you feel you're having some success lovely. xx

Wait a sec, Australia isn't part of Britain? Why am I always the last to find these tings out?

jimhelm 08-19-2012 07:32 PM

Amanda and I are in Atlantic City for a couple days. We sat down at the boardwalk beer garden. We were here for 5 minutes when Willie Nelson sat down at the next table. Cool.

footfootfoot 08-19-2012 07:36 PM

Amanda? Amanda Rekkenwith?

jimhelm 08-19-2012 07:58 PM

No, Amanda Huggankisz

Clodfobble 08-20-2012 12:24 PM

There was a subtle but excellent Amadeus reference in an episode of How I Met Your Mother that we watched last night. I am pleased to be one of (I suspect) like 10 people in the world who immediately got it within the first few seconds.

Pico and ME 08-20-2012 12:32 PM

What was it?

CzinZumerzet 08-20-2012 01:46 PM

Small joy to most but huge to me is that my gorgeous cats ate their tea. I have a mother and daughter rescue pair and love them deeply and yes they are my substitute kids but more so, and my huge love for them is mostly returned. At the end of the day they're cats:)

Feathers the mum is very obese and we have tried a variety of treatments and today we started our final chance. She and her daughter Daisy have tried Royal Canin Obesity Management for Cats - and they loved it. They have hated previous replacement foods but now on their last chance, they ate their tea. Happy me:)

BigV 08-20-2012 02:07 PM

welcome back "Caz". long time no see. :)

DanaC 08-20-2012 03:19 PM

Great news Caz. I totally relate to that particular joy :p

Nice to see you as well!

orthodoc 08-20-2012 05:39 PM

Always uplifting to see your beloved fur friends eating what's healthy for them ...

We haven't met, but happy to make your cyber-acquaintance!

It was from season 4, episode 2, "The Best Burger Ever." After they finally find the burger, Barney starts describing the profound beauty of this burger, in a very close homage of this speech:

The matching Mozart piece was playing quietly in the background of Barney's speech, too.

Pico and ME 08-21-2012 04:37 PM

D'aaahhhh...I might have caught it. I loved Amadeus. I should probably start watching that show. Im gonna check whether Comcasts Xfinity Streampix has the old seasons.

Clodfobble 08-21-2012 06:57 PM

Yeah, that and Dangerous Liaisons are my two favorite movies of all time.

Sundae 08-22-2012 05:22 AM

I have a rusty squeezebox today.
Blame the wasabi peas.

Sundae 08-22-2012 12:41 PM

Double posting, soz.

Birthday pressie from Bri.
Two books, postcards from Maine and a very funny card.

Sadly, has made me switch from real cleaning to pretendy-cleaning (reading book in room and shifting about enough to suggest I am sorting my wardrobe out).
But hey. I have at least another week to get it done.

Thanks hon x

It was a quote from the clip Clod posted.
But the wasabi peas did make me happy on the way in :D

A lady came to deliver some shoes (for Mum) today. It was a very odd conversation, because she had an earpiece and was talking to someone not present, while looking at me. About me. "I'm just delivering to a lady with pink hair. Bright pink! It's amazing. He says take a photo. Yes she is wearing clothes! Men!"

I had to check myself in the mirror afterwards to check I was still there.
But the comment about my hair pleased me.
Less than two weeks left now...

Big Sarge 08-27-2012 03:50 PM

Sundae - TY! The gift made me feel like a winner too. Plus the wrapping was great!

monster 08-28-2012 09:52 PM

Daughter's necklace -given to her by her first boyfriend in a very romantic way "went missing" in the pool locker room 10 days ago. After pleas for its anonymous return, it just showed up tonight!

glatt 08-29-2012 08:07 AM

I sent Sarge a picture of some titties.

DucksNuts 09-04-2012 06:54 PM

Finally - work are seeing that I am under utilised!!

I have never been in a place this long and not progressed up the ladder...but I guess it has been a bit harder because Upper Management are quite removed from the day to day stuff and I was only a casual employee, so I didnt get much time to shine.

Anyway - a little while ago I was given the task of running the Customer Service Team and a permanent part time contract...thats been going really well.

Now I will be running the next recruitment drive - which is huge for this company. We will have over 300 applicants and its a long induction process.

I will also be looking for my replacement, so I can get into the "meaty" jobs which will be project type roles.

Yay me :)

zippyt 09-04-2012 07:55 PM

Yeah DUX !!!!

ZenGum 09-04-2012 10:53 PM

Ducks sure does like meaty jobs, doesn't she? ;)

Aliantha 09-05-2012 06:27 PM

I have the best kids in the world. Sorry all you other dwellar parents, but seriously, they've been so good lately. Mav even cooked dinner last night, and then did most of the cleaning up!

This morning I got a text from Aden saying that his English teacher is really happy with his last assignment - which never happens with Aden. English is his hate subject (as is the case with most teenage boys I know), but I was just so happy to get that news. He's been trying hard, and it looks like things are finally starting to pay off.

Oh, and Max ate all his breaky without much fuss at all. That's a win in my book any day.

Spexxvet 09-05-2012 06:52 PM

I sold a pair of glasses today for $999.00, before insurance.

DanaC 09-06-2012 01:31 AM

Got to take carrot to the vet today for some xrays (possible joint problems on the way :( ) but that's not what's making me happy. I got up much earlier than usual today as have to drp him in at 8:30. He's not used to being up and about so early. He's been doing the cutest arched back stretches as he walks about. Like a giant kitty cat. And he smells of warm, sleepy fur.

Razzmatazz13 09-09-2012 11:59 AM

Had horrible dreams last night about the hubs, then got a phone call this morning. Definitely a great way to start my day :)

Clodfobble 09-09-2012 12:01 PM
