I've just seen the first House Martin of the year. A week later than last year but at least I've seen one. What will probably happen now is that there won't be anymore for weeks. I shall try to dismiss that pessimistic thought from my mind and look forward to the return of the Swallows and those real masters of the air, Swifts. :)

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

DanaC 04-16-2010 09:36 AM

Oh that's just fucking bizarre. I was playing with Pilau bout fifteen minutes ago and when he found the toy I'd hidden, I shouted "Callooh! Callay!"

It's not somethng I would normally say...

No, they're not in the least bit unusual around here. In fact, I would go so far as to say that most of the local populace come from the outer reaches of the galaxy. Well, let's put it this way, few seem to be of 'this world'.:eyebrow:

Shawnee123 04-16-2010 10:10 AM

My people, then. ;)

HLJ I am glad to hear you guys were able to fix the CO problem. Sorry you can't work from home, anymore, though. Husband lost his job, so he is constantly "working from home."

This is what is making me happy today. We have to find a cheaper place to live, now that our income is significantly less. This is what we have found:

glatt 04-20-2010 02:44 PM

Hey, that looks pretty cool. I'd LOVE to have a barn. And look at all that space for the kids to run around. When the leaves come in, it will look downright gorgeous.

You could certainly plant a garden.

classicman 04-20-2010 03:56 PM

Wonderful! Looks so peaceful there.

DanaC 04-20-2010 03:56 PM

Awesome barn! I like!

squirell nutkin 04-20-2010 05:15 PM

Was able to sing a 19 note range today during my voice lesson. Hit the upper notes w/o the teacher kicking me in the nuts this time.

I don't know why it takes so much work to get rid of TEMP agents. Anyway, I hope I won this time. :P

Probably longer than that - I'd be eating it by myself. Elk cows weigh about 500 lb.

I'm sorry to hear about the income loss.

I find adding easier than subtracting; to subtract 9 from 20, just add one and subtract 10.

lol

and congrats on the new job

I don't see the connect at all.

I wish I could fire people, the fucking idiot is still here. Getting the same pay I do, only doing 1% of the amount of work, and doing it wrong. I'm more than frustrated. I am usually a really nice person, but if being a bitch is what is needed, than I will be.

Really lucky the repair man found the CO leak HLJ, that's scary! Good luck at the new job.

Sorry about your having to deal with a goldbricking a-hole. I connected the dots in bold. I think my humor has a lot to do with words and intentional mis-reading of them. I suspect it is due to some Irish blood.

I had a brilliant scheme for getting a cow-orker fired but it was so devious and potentially ruinous to the person I couldn't bring myself to do it.

morethanpretty 04-20-2010 11:57 PM

Oh, sorry I took it wrongly. Just easily riled today I guess.:o

Yay for you jinx! It looks like you got some real nice tires and wheels too. Well they look nice to me anyway. Meaty

Bruce 9012 04-22-2010 11:17 PM

Nice, have seen the before. Please be nice to the squirrels. i really like them for the diseased little beggers they are...At least the city ones.

HungLikeJesus 04-22-2010 11:21 PM

We're expecting snow tomorrow - somewhere between 6 and 15 inches.

xoxoxoBruce 04-22-2010 11:24 PM

Tell you wife to spray the shovel with PAM, it'll make it easier for her. :haha:

HungLikeJesus 04-22-2010 11:30 PM

Even better: I'll just spray the driveway with Teflon.

kerosene 04-22-2010 11:37 PM

Oww, that sounds like fuuuuuuuun. :D

It might be...the older part was built in 1907 (for you Brits out there, that's like something being built in the 1700s in Brit years. We just don't have old houses like you guys do.) The inside has been completely remodeled and it is huge. Bigger than where we live now, and cheaper! What a deal.

No worries about the income...we are minimizing expenses and working hard on our cleaning business.

Bruce 9012 04-22-2010 11:43 PM

Or just make the whole driveway out of black box material. No matter how inebriated you are you will always find It.

Yes, they came in last Friday and did the whole thing in about four hours, including excavation. They used 94 tons of asphalt.

I'm interested to see if the snow melts better than when we just had dirt.

xoxoxoBruce 04-23-2010 12:31 AM

Holy Shit.

ZenGum 04-23-2010 01:28 AM

94 tons???

Indeed, holy shit.

Sundae 04-26-2010 11:43 AM

We have a pirate theme in school at the moment.
I spent the afternoon helping to make (and sometimes sneakily making) pirate cutlasses.

I only took over when a child was getting upset. The rest of the time I was just lending a hand. Gutted that this didn't leave me enough time to make my own though!

xoxoxoBruce 04-26-2010 03:19 PM

Making weapons? IN SCHOOL!?

monster 04-26-2010 05:34 PM

I volunteer two days a week at a local school. I'm in Year 2, which is 6-7 year olds. I'm motivated because being a Teaching Assistant is something I was interested in anyway and I wanted to try it out, but mostly because they have all this cool stuff!

We have FOUR live chicks in the classroom right now.
So cute.

Me and the chicks I mean.

This arvo I am mostly making my own cutlass (if it's any good I will take a picture for you) and I'm planning on putting in an extra day this week. I'll go in tomorrow to make up for the day I missed before Easter. And to show off my cutlass.

Bruce - if'n it's made of card and foil it's acceptable even in this country. I think. I'm a white female, I reckon I'll get away with it....

DanaC 04-27-2010 07:31 AM

a white female who is at least partially responsible for an earthquake though ...

CzinZumerzet 04-27-2010 09:33 AM

Deep joy! Walking through the park with my cousin's great-grand daughter aged two, talking duck (quackery) and squirrel and plucking tiny fistfulls of blossom from the cherry and almond trees. And the sun has shone and shone and - yes - shone.

Life is so good on days like these.

lumberjim 04-27-2010 12:16 PM

dig that, cz.

my daughter just called me up and played me the riff from 'glycerine' (that my son taught her) over the speaker phone. Nice.

Pie 04-28-2010 12:18 PM

One really sweet strawberry.

Shawnee123 04-30-2010 10:40 AM

To counteract what is really pissing me off today, I made an appointment for a one hour massage using the gift card I got last November for my birthday.

They better have a slobber bucket!

Only 2 chicks now.
The lady who supplied the eggs (a parent of a child in the class) only had one hatchling.
So we "donated" the two yellow chicks back - they need to socialise in order to be happy and healthy.

These are our two remaining.
They seem to get cuter the older they get!
