The weather is absolutely gorgeous - lovely, lovely!
And we don't get to say "great weather!" in Ohio but a few times a year. Ye-HAW, it's purty out. :) |
People that work outside know, there's only about 4 days a year that are lovely. A few more are partially-lovely, a lot are only not-too-bad, and most are tolerable, could-be-worse, or crappy. ;)

My course was great yesterday!
I think I'll really gain something from this. Also, today at school I found out we are having a Cake Sale next Friday. Not only does this tie in with me new interest in baking, but the school's chosen charity this year is MacMillan Cancer Support - a very worthy charity and obviously close to my heart. So I'm planning a cupcake extravaganza. It won't cost me any money - Mum has offered to buy all the ingredients, because she is away from home housesitting and can't come and support it. This also means I have the kitchen to myself the night before :) If I really impress myself (I will, my standards aren't all that high) I will post pictorial evidence. Really feeling quite jolly and useful today, having been at school Weds & Fri and on my course in between. |
....that also sounds like you and your mum have sort of made up........ ?

I bought a pair of 75 cent bluejeans at the Goodwill outlet today. They are 36 waist, so I figured i would eventually be able to wear them...and at $0.75, why not... I also got a denim shirt and a pair of 38 inch waist tan 'jeans' .. also 75c.
best part: the bluejeans fit. they're tight, but they fit. |
That's one great feeling when you fit something that you think is a bit small. :D

And you should see the lists she's made for me for when they go away! I've been here two years, they've gone away probably 20+ times. Do I really need to be told to empty the kitchen bin regularly? She's even included "put a Calgon tablet in with every wash so the washing machine doesn't fur up". I put a wash on almost every day. I know it's because we argued. It's her way of showing she's lost trust in me. Shrug. They'll be gone on Monday and I can relax :) Congrats on the weight loss LJ. I just seem to be effortlessly gliding upwards these days... |
Yahoo Groups apparently received enough negative feedback about their shitty new format (a total visual change meant to approximate Facebook instead of a messageboard) that they switched all of them back to the old format. This makes me very happy indeed.

Had the kids ALL day today. They slept over last night. We had a good breakfast (they both had waffles with strawberries.... the boy ate scrapple... blech...
then we played wiffle ball, 2 different board games... and then we had ripley's cheerleading picture day... http://lh4.ggpht.com/_BlnzSK1l80E/TJ...eam%202010.jpg and then we went to the Renaissance Fair and had a GREAT time. Me and the boy both ate an Entire Turkey Leg. damn good time... damn good. http://lh3.ggpht.com/_BlnzSK1l80E/TJ...20fair%201.jpg jousting! http://lh3.ggpht.com/_BlnzSK1l80E/TJ...en%20fzir2.jpg |
Looks like a whole lot of happiness there Jim. So much so it's contagious.:) I am happy for you.
|
Looks like a good time.
|
That's excellent. Just don't take them to endless museums on rainy days.
I've got to admit I'm one of those "cheerleading is not a sport" knee-jerk folks, but she sure looks like an athlete in those pics -not just the muscles, but the way she stands. WTG, R. |
I just saw a bobcat!
|
Wow! Nobody ever sees bobcats!
|
Minifob's first day back at school, and I got an email from his teacher:

And what was Mr. Clod's response? (To me, not to the teacher.) "Well, it is kind of gay... but I'll take gay over autistic any day!" :) |
What's making me happy (or amused...can't decide) is seeing that the cellar community is quite capable of decending into mayhem without my help.
Suck on that faggots! lol (That's an oz joke. I'm sure casi and ducks will get it...and Zen if he ever appears again) |

That is great Clod!

Anyway another happy thing. Lil Griff's team was winning their game by a wide margin when one of her teammates drove a ball which went up the defenders stick and hit the poor girl in the arm / ribs knocking her out of the game temporarily. Lil's teammate crossed over to the other bench to check on her. After the game the opposing coach gave her a good sportsman t-shirt they apparently keep on hand when they catch kids doing the right thing. That was just nice. |
What a nice thing to do and what a great idea by the opposing team.
|
Interesting idea, having shirts on hand. Did they have the team logo on them too?
Oh, sorry about your Bobcat.;) |
That is such a cool idea.

Just reread this - I still think thats really awesome!

I wonder if those shirts are on hand because they're normally given to their own team members for displays of sportsmanship. That sounds like a good plan for any youth team.
|
Sounds like a good plan for ANY team.

We could have cellar good sportsmanship shirts.
|
I'm sure we'd end up squabbling over them. :D
|
or eating them.

I just got a coupon for a free pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I gave blood yesterday and apparently they picked my name out of a hat to get one of the several coupons they had to give away to donors.
Sometimes it's the simple things. Ice cream! |
You deserved it.

I found my knife.
It was on the floor in the footwell of the backseat on the driver's side. Naturally, since it slipped from my pocket while I was driving. I'm carrying my Kershaw today anyhow. It's nice and sharp but the clip's on the wrong end. Happy! |
The clip on the Kershaw is not reversible?
|
My lawn was cut.
|
Probably BigV's knife did it.
|
Or Shawnee's wit
|
Caustic wit is pretty damn sharp.
and I just love off the wall shenanigans too. |

Nearly done with the current pitch of siding. one more board and then the soffit. managed to get things done in a timely fashion.

Congratatulations, 3foot, well done Sir. :thumb:

Yesterday it was 90.
Today is gonna be 70. Helllllllloooooooooooooooooo Fall! |
Slippers, zucchini bread, honeycrisp apples.
|
Honey Crisp are the King of apples. We planted a Honey Crisp a few years ago and this was the first year it bore fruit, about ten apples. Slowly, one by one, they succumbed to the millimeter's premature harvesting. She ate the last green one a month ago.
|
an excellent investment!
|
hockey. broke, but happy.
|
extra money in the mail today, which tops off my target amount for my car downpayment. Now all I need is the car.

AWE-SOME!
We just finished cutting down all the weed trees on my neighbor's side of the line. I had to wait ten years, but it happened. Neighbor died two years ago and her kids finally realized that thye had even less chance of selling her teardown with all the stank trees. My garden is safe for democracy! BooYah sunlight! All that and work on the house too. PLUS! Fatbody is presumed dead. Thought I got what seemed to be a good head shot as he emerged from his hole, but he jumped right back in again. haven't seen him for several days, went to the entrance to check and saw a blob of something engulfed by maggots. Would have preferred to put his head on a pike and sing a song, but I'm happy that my zucchini are growing again. Still putting out flowers. |
Man, you're on a roll... must be the full moon. ;)
|
I'm hoping it's the mania phase of the pendulum of my undiagnosed bi-polar whatsis. I plan to ride the wave all the way to shore and then hit the beach for a few months of not being able to get out of bed, figuring if everything is done, then I can work the "well deserved rest angle" for a bit before I have to face the music or go back on meds.
(there's a grain of truthiness in there somewhere) |
Can I build a boat now, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaasssssssssseeeeeeeeee!!!

Now about a month in, my new 8 student rental neighbors (total for houses on both sides) are proving to be friendly, responsible and not too loud.
|
you need to wait until at least midterms to make such an assessment That's when the craziness comes out!
