Stay low

The moon is high and
I know better than to seek for answers
before the sun comes up
morning is wiser than evening

but

the moon is high and
the visions all come back
morning is too far away

He says he always could
stay up all night
be stressed and still
work the day

am I a dull pathetic clod
to need respite
to need some sleep to function

long ago I did the necessary
stayed up all weekend
sat at the bedside of the dying baba
held the retractor didn't faint

I passed the test
but
not according to the one who loves me
makes me his priority
yet somehow I am his destruction

didn't mean to be

all my life i learned
to stay low
stay beneath the radar
it's safer
don't attract the danger
don't inspire the abuse
it's your fault after all

do we ever affect anyone else?

it's all a mirage

stay low
'til the danger's past
the opportunity has passed

Turn that thing off
It's dragging you around the room like a rag doll
You are not your thoughts
You are not your fear
You are not your sense of impending dread

You are the silence between those words

Turn it off when you're not using it, else it is using you

Didn't mean to post this. Damn.
You're right, of course, Jim.
