(Poll) Should The Cellar use avatars?

Avatars are the little images that show up to the left of every post, showing an image that represents the user.

We are a self-selected bunch that started without them... but I'll tellya, I have come to enjoy them on other forums, and many people are probably avoiding us because we don't use them.

Please, no avatars. My own words make me look like an ass often enough, I don't need an avatar on the job full-time.

You can choose not to use an avatar, and you can always block avatars completely as you read.

I don't care, as long as I can block them.

They do look like ass and color the words written next to them. If it goes that way a block function would be cool.

I'd say no, but if they are allowed, they should be very small. A huge part of the way they make a forum look like ass is to have a tiny little post in a huge empty box next to a massive avatar.

I voted yes, but with a degree of sadness.

I personally prefer the plain look. I find the Cellar very comfortable to view. But I do agree that it seems more and more a part of what is expected in the basic functions of a forum.

I much prefer the current Cellar look. Avatars don't add a thing. And when dozens of people have the same one it just ... looks like ass. Not the good kind.

I assume you would continue to offer a sterile safe for work viewing mode, so it's really moot.

If we went with avatars, I'd need to chose one, but that's the only way it would affect me.

What Happy Monkey said. Small, thumbnail-size. And please, no animated avatars.

ETA: A small photo of the Dwellar would be great, but, I understand some wouldn't want their actual face up there.

If you put avatars on, you will all see more of my face. Think about that then decide.
