The Art of Humor

My work schedule is just now starting to slow down and sometimes I have weekends off.

When I saw that Bill Cosby was coming to the Warner Theater in Torrington, I had to go see him ( since Torn-ton is so close ).

How many of us grew up listening to Cosby's comedy records? Watching fat Albert and so on?

The show was about 2 hours long with about 1/4 old material ( that is still hillarious after all the years ), 1/4 impromptu stuff with the audience and 1/2 of funny experiences from his own life.

I had a great time.

Has anyone here seen his shows?

Huge Cosby fan here. Not so much the TV shows but his other stuff, definitely.

I saw him at Proctor's (I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Palace) a few years ago. Great show. I love how he can be so hilariously funny without being a potty-mouth.

Around our house we will occasionally sing "Dad is great! He feeds us chocolate cake!"

"The Belt was eleven feet long and had teeth on it..."

"The Chicken Heart that ate Cincinnati"

"Who made you the big Jello Sheriff of the house?!"

"What's a cubit?"

Comedy GOLD!

My parents had the album "Wonderfulness." I loved Chicken Heart.

I also loved the Fat Albert. Never missed it. Quotes:

Man, you're like school during the summer. No class
-Rudy

Waba hapbin Fatba Alburtt?
-Mushmouth

HEY,HEY,HEY, It's judgement day!
-Fat Albert

I also loved The Cosby Show, the early ones. The episode where he is trying to teach Theo the value of an education, and Theo goes into this sweet speech about how maybe he's different from the rest of the family, and they should accept him the way he is. It was a moving speech, and us viewers got a little sentimental for a second, thnking it was one of those "very special" sitcoms, until Cliff (Cosby) says "That is the DUMBEST thing I have ever heard" and tells Theo he's afraid to learn because he's afraid his brain will ooze out of his ears...etc. He ends with "I'm your father. I brought you into this world, and I can take you OUT."

Good stuff!
