Current mathe curricula in the US are confounded by the checkbox testing. Kids need to pass the tests to make the school look good, so the school teaches them to pass tests. Answers by rote. The peace of the board of education which passeth all understanding.
Whats 7*6? 42. How did you work that out? huh? What's 14*6? dunno. Why not? dunno. is it on the test? .....
