National ID

We often get arguments here about what a great idea it would be to give the Feds all our biometrics so we'd be perfectly safe. Unfortunately, gooberment employees are not getting any smarter.

On the upside, for those of us who oppose fascism/communism the Americanocrat is incapapable of competent work, so as long as nobody gives them absurd powers, we're good.

The National ID is one of, if not the, worst thing that could happen to this nation.
I will not carry it and will fight it with all that I have at my disposal.

I could understand a laptop or even a desktop, but a hard drive? Not that I'd think losing any of them isn't stupid. An external hard drive maybe?

I know the federal government is big, but the TSA lost the info on 100,000 TSA employees. 100,000!? What does the TSA need 100,000 people for? I only see a couple dozen in each airport I've visited. How many major airports are there in the US? 75? I can see having maybe 10,000 employees. What are the other 90,000 doing? Maybe they should be in charge of watching the hard drives so they don't get stolen.

Oh, by the way, if you want to write your government to complain about the proposed Real ID system, you have 3 hours until the deadline.

I mentioned before a friend that safety inspects power boats in NJ, is now part of Homeland Security. I think the Coast Guard is too.

As are Air Marshals, Border Patrol, and quite a few other LEO's.

Ah, the Coasties. I think I knew that. Never mind. That would explain it right there.

Wait a sec. Let's not confuse TSA with it's parent, the Department of Homeland Security.

Border Patrol and Coast Guard may be part of Homeland Security but are not part of TSA. The TSA is luggage inspectors, Air Marshalls, and airport security. Also seaport security.

Our work relies on thousands of dedicated Security Officers, air marshals, inspectors and staff members interacting with millions of travelers, truckers, longshoremen and officials in your community each day.

100,000 still seems like a lot. I wonder how many are in the TSA total?

A national ID is a good idea. You should use something like the octopus card too.

Octopus card has nothing at all to do with national ID. Octopi cards are just so you can get around on the MTR really quick. Since america lacks anything even resembling public transportation (with the exception of a couple of cities having subways), it would be useless.

Actually no, I use it for shopping too and have my photo on it. It\'s not just an MTR card. You can use it for everything now.
