Wild coincidence

So about a year ago xoxoxoBruce has this friend Dan May, who has a set of original songs and was putting together a band to tour them. xoB sent them his other buddies on bass and drums for a rhythm section. Then, they needed a guitarist, so they heard about this Tom Hampton. I played with Tom on two earlier projects; the drummer knew from xoB that I worked with Tom; so he asked for a recommendation. I explained that Tom was a great guy and played the sweetest country-ish rock, in the tradition of bands like Poco and the Eagles and Buffalo Springfield and Marshall Tucker Band, etc. with tremendous subtlety. Well Tom got the gig, and the band played out and was most excellent.

So today I'm helping a cow orker with his computer, and I look over at his calendar, and it says for today: Dan May practice

So I say to the guy, "Dennis... you play guitar don't you?"

"Yeah."

I point to the calendar. "So... are you replacing my buddy Tom Hampton on guitar for Dan May?"

He's stunned for a moment, then "No! I'm playing *with* Tom for Dan May!"

Turns out they have shook up the band a bit, and gotten a new bass and drums, and are bringing in this guy at work to share guitar duty with Tom.

It was an amazing rare coincidence. We are a music-related company but we only have like 30 people.

When the band appeared on TV in Philly, I cropped them out and made a shitty quality video that was small enough to email. I sent it to the drummer who in turn forwarded it to Dan May. Dan sent it to a friend in Michigan, because he hadn't received a good copy from the TV station yet. The friend put it on YouTube and where it never got replaced with a decent version.
