The squeaky wheel gets released

Manson follower and pointer-of-gun at President Ford-er Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme is released from prison. There was no bullet in the chamber of the gun she had when she tried to "talk" to the president.

Squeak says it never occurred to her that she could wind up in prison.

Quote:
Asked whether she had any regrets, Fromme said, "No. No, I don't. I feel it was fate." However, she said that she thought her incarceration was "unnecessary" and that she couldn't see herself repeating her offense.
Wonder where she'll get a job?

President Ford? 2009?
I think it's about time.

Yes, I know she was a member of the Manson family.
I probably know more than is healthy about them - one of my fascinations (along with Jim Jones)

But, come on. It's trial by media when it comes to a big case.
Like Myra Hindley. She deserved the original sentence, but it was the media that made sure she stayed in prison after that.

Rose West deserves everything she gets though.

It did seem an awfully long sentence for the crime, when so much worse gets so much less.

It's important to note that she probably would have been let out a lot sooner, but she refused to attend her own parole hearings for years and years. No word as to why she decided to attend this one after all.

I wonder.

Did she finally decide that her misguided semi-civil disobedience sentence was a bit much?

Very good point, Clod.

I am reminded of another Jack Handey quote:

Quote:
I think a good gift for the President would be a chocolate revolver. and since he is so busy, you'd probably have to run up to him real quick and give it to him.

Hmm...

Run up on the Prez with a gun, and... what?
Win a car?
Not too bright.

Manson. It was a hell of a drug.
