Page Hijacker Virus FaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhK

I am running Kaspersky and it asked me what to do and I clicked the wrong button.

Now I am constantly being redirected to stupid pages. I am running scans now but I don't hold out much hope. The last thing Kaspersky said was something to the effect that the software wanted to install a driver in the bad place. The place where Kaspersky couldn't track it or something like that.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUck.

Any ideas?

I had something a bit like that hit my machine last year; so did J. What we found was that if you wnt to a search engine and clicked any of the links it'd take you somewhere else entirely; but if you copied and pasted the link right into the web address box it woud go to the address. Same for anything hyperlinked.

Try ComboFix from bleepingcomputer.com. I know that someone had good luck with that yesterday.

Let me know if you do find anything that works. Last time that one hit we had to reinstall windows.

Kaspersky found a "hoax badjoke" virus and I delted it, but the problem remains. going though multiple scans.

I never had these problems with AVG and PrevX. I may go back to them.

What does Ccleaner do? Getting the internet window to open once I click on it takes some time for me. Once it is open its fine. What is that due to?

I like CC cleaner. It doesn't allow me to delete files I am not suppose to.
