Jargon

Do you use jargon? Would it sound like gibberish to the rest of us? What might you say?

I might say
"I need a Hoya Amplitude Hi-def Mini, six base, two add in phoenix transitions, with Superhivision EX3. O.D. plus one minus fifty at one eighty, O.S. plus one fifty sphere. Seg height is eighteen high, O.D. Pd. is thirty-two, O.S. is thirty-two point five. It's for a Boutique 110, fifty-five, eighteen. A is fifty-five, B is thirty-six, E.D. is fifty-eight, and D.B.L. is eighteen."

Let me try:

I'm enjoying using CSS for layout, despite cross-browser incompatibilities, and I'm considering moving to a PHP framework. I know enough about normalization and JOIN syntax to create reliable database schemas with complicated queries. I consider myself well-versed in UI but have never used wireframes.

The poe-lees scanner here at GravCentral used to burp this out with regularity, and I never failed to chuckle when I heard it:

Quote:
cop: Central.
Central: Go ahead.
cop: Central, put me 10-6, signal 5, signal 1.
Central: 10-4.
Here, 10-6 = Busy/Occupied; signal 5 = eating lunch; and signal 1 = home/spouse.

Of course, I always translated that as:

"Central, I'll be busy at home eating my wife."

Thirty-one wrecked and a bad actor.
