Look Up Here!

I needed to start a new thread so people would respond.

My skin is so dry it hurts. I've tried everything I can think of --what works for you?

(and thanks for playing)

Aveeno seems to be good around here. Where I live we are plagued with dry dry wind and skin gets painful.

Are you moisturizing BEFORE you get out of the shower? That's the only thing that helps me. Even then, my skin is still as dry as parchment, but at least it doesn't itch.

I like Palmer's cocoa butter oil, or Neutrogena body oil.

I have not ever tried gold bond but it seems to have a good reputation for bringing relief to extreme dry skin.

Aveeno.

eta and the knock-off brands are not as good. This from someone who rarely buys branded if there's an imitation

It's available online:

There are no active ingedients or perfumes. It is awesome, unless you have a sensitivity to lanolin or petroleum jelly.

You can blend together your own, Bri. Go to walgreens/cvs/walmart and find an ointment with lanolin in it, an oil with glycerin in it (the type they sell for use in the shower, usually), and (if you can) a cream with shea butter, and blend them together. I'm a concoction maker.

I haven't seen Oilatum here, but that stuff's pretty soothing, added to bath water or applied to wet skin in the shower. Makes you very slippery, though.
