5th July: Un-Deliverance Day.
4th July late afternoon, store called..... we have your new dishwasher here and will call you betwen 8 and 9am to give you a delivery window..... excellent....
9:30am. No call. Call the store (from the pool), put on hold/transferred/passed to new person/wait while they find the guy/transfer/no answer/picked up by new person/rinse/repeat for half an hour until I say fuck it I'm coming into the store and hang up. Same process in store for half hour until they finally find the delivery guy who is not answering pages. He says 2-6pm window. I say "that's not a morning delivery" He said we had emergencies yada yada yada I said you could have called 8-9 and told me that..... grrrr. ANYWAY.... they end up using the truck they rent out and driving it over to me a half hour later. (I live right round the corner) And they haul away the old one as promised. But the kitchen is tiny, so the dishwasher sat in the middle of the floor and the open connection to the waste disposer renders one sink unusable..... so the kitchen was pretty inaccessible and uncleanable all day (that's my excuse...) beest comes home from work ready for the install. lifts up the insulation to get to the fittings and finds the back is all dented in. So we go back to the store armed with the digital camera full of pics. problem is, out of stock and the ones scheduled to be delivered are already spoken for. there's not suitable alternative in the store or the other nearby stores. there will be more delivered in a week. MIL arrives Thursday. They already took the old dishwasher away. We hare a family of 5 who cook everything from scratch and I have eczema on my hands and detergent and latex allergy, so manual dishwashing is not a whole ball of fun. We NEED a dishwasher. They can get one from Monroe (about an hour away) by 8pm tomorrow, but we will have to take the dented one in and pick that up. Tomorrow is the swim team's Swim-A-thon (all day and night at the pool, 150 miles....) Did i mention MIL arrives Thursday?. Anyway, beest's going to do the exchange and install while we swim/count laps..... It's the best that we could do but really? Crappy customer service all round. But it was gratifying that the guy trying to help us find a suitable alternative said, really there's nothing -that is the best dishwasher in that price range. and that was at the regular price (we got 120 off). AND...... The credit cards coming Fedex definitely today (mine doesn't swipe any more and Beest accidentally destroyed his instead of the expired Debit card.....) didn't come and the new phone we ordered so Thor can also have his freedom didn't come (he has a new buddy and likes to spend time at the pool and fishing in the creek with her and pottering to her house round the corner, but the pool neighborhood is across a busy 4-lane street so he can't just toddle home when he's all done and I can't just holler for him.....) Harumph.
