Hobo with a Shotgun

A tired, old, bear trundles into town. All he wants is to rest, to live quietly, to bother no one and be bothered by no one.

The town, however, is a nest of vile things, each grubbing mercilessly for sex and money and power and blood.

The bear stands clear and apart till circumstance forces his hand.

He bares his teeth, works his claws: vile things die.

He is opposed at every turn by vile things and by those who are preyed upon by the vile things.

Only a teacher stands with the bear.

In the end: the vile things die (but the corruption each fostered stands), the bear dies, the teacher is co-opted.

---

Rutger Hauer was marvelous.

Everyone else sucked donkey balls.

The pacing of the flick was off: the bear was short-shrifted and the vile things had too much on-screen play.

Certain motivations (like those of the bear) could only be inferred when, perhaps, a more direct laying out of the answer to 'why' was more appropriate.

The cartoon violence damaged the film.

A solid 'C' movie (solely because of Hauer).

Does "co-opted" mean "eaten"?

nah, it means *spoiler* but he forgot to warn us. "eaten" is spelled "co-sanguinated".

Really, because I can't find but one result for "co-sanguinated" through google. If you take the hyphen out you might actually have a real word, but I still don't see what it means in this context.

well, I just made it up. exsanguinated means to be drained of blood. I made up co-sanguinated as a riff on co-opted and exsanguinated and eaten. Meaning, yeah the bear "co-opted/ate" the teacher.

just playin actually. I think he gave away big parts of some movie, I hope to forget about the post, cause I'd like to see a movie with Rutger Hauer in it and I like to be surprised. so... well there you go.

Ahhhh. I'm slow on the verbal uptake today.

I don't like movies to be spoiled either. I honestly didn't know this was a movie until I read further. I thought it was a story he was writing for us.

henry, you can put spoiler alerts so people who don't want to know ahead of time. It's like hiding the Christmas presents better (and I was a kid who never snooped, no fun not being surprised.)

Since I didn't get to see The Sixth Sense for like a year, and had to do some crazy things to get out of hearing anything about it, I'm glad I didn't know YOU then.

Which has nothing to do with NOW.

If hobos have got shotguns we have bigger things to worry about than movie spoilers!
