Maybe some of those "expensive, unnecessary test" aren't so unnecessary.

Exactly. Remember that when people say that our care here in the US is too expensivecompared with the rest of the world.

My Nan suffered from back pain for quite a long time.
She kept going back to the doctor and they kept telling her it was old age and just giving her painkillers. Tch, silly old woman. It wasn't until she was on the train one day and realised she'd lost the use of her arm completely, that she was taken into hospital. From then, until she was allowed home to die was a matter of weeks. Cancer. Too widespread to treat - as she was a heavy smoker throughout her life they suggested it might have been lung cancer, but it was no longer possible to tell. Mum's friend Breda - over TEN years later - at the same surgery, had a similar result. Her pain was generally accepted as muscular, since she had a big dog that pulled her along every time she went for a walk. Nope, it was cancer. Found too late for any treatment to be effective. Non smoker, just to be balanced. Mum beat herself up for not recognising the signs. I told her that if she called "Cancer!" every time someone had an ache or pain, she probably wouldn't have any friends left. You pay directly, you pay through taxes, you pay via insurance... no system in the world is foolproof. Keep shouting, keep complaining. Being a nuisance is a hell of a lot better than dying in the knowledge that you didn't need to.

My doctor said I was fat, I said, "I want a second opinion." He said, "OK, you're ugly too."
As usual, try the steak...

A man runs into the vet's office carrying his dog, screaming for help.
The vet rushes him back to an examination room and has him put his dog on the examination table. The vet examines the still, limp body and after a few moments, tells the man that his dog, regrettably, is dead. The man, clearly agitated and not willing to accept this, demands a second opinion. The vet goes into the back room and comes out with a cat and puts the cat down next to the dog's body. The cat sniffs the body, walks from head to tail, poking and sniffing the dog's body and finally looks at the vet and meows. The vet looks at the man and says, "I'm sorry, but the cat thinks that your dog is dead, too." The man is still unwilling to accept that his dog is dead. So, the vet brings in a black Labrador. The lab sniffs the body, walks from head to tail, and finally looks at the vet and barks. The vet looks at the man and says, "I'm sorry, but the lab thinks your dog is dead too." The man, finally resigned to the diagnosis, thanks the vet and asks how much he owes. The vet answers, "$650." "$650 to tell me my dog is dead?" exclaims the man. "Well," the vet replies, "I would only have charged you $50 for my initial diagnosis. The additional $600 was for the cat scan and lab tests."

Yeah foot, you insensitive bastard.
Oh, and, classic, foot probably wouldn't have done that if you'd gone a little less drama queen and said this was a friend of mine instead of just posting a video clip with RIP. Boy who cried wolf and all. Personally, I was just trying to lighten your grief, but I'm sure you got that.

So wait, why aren't you attacking f3? He's clearly worth fucking too. And he started it. You wouldn't happen to be a little irrational about me, would you? Uncontrollable hatred is kinda like cancer too, you might want to see someone about that.
