But while there is some good in rock music, there is much evil. (However, most rock music falls somewhere in between. It is not completely good or totally evil. Like most of life, it contains some of each).

ha! I didn' quite mean it that dismissively. I just mean rock music is just art and expression, there's nothing evil about a genre of music.

So far there's just a couple of their songs I've heard and like and I think one reason I like them is they don't directly proselytize in the lyrics. One could interpret what they're saying as some kind of confessional, especially in their song Comatose, but it doesn't have to go that way if you don't want it to. It's less 'We're bringing you THE WORD through our music' and more 'We're Christians but here's some metal for you', which I find much more inviting.

Also, orchestral violins in metal... love it.

I have no problem with songs about christianity, or which come from a christian perspective...as long as they're good songs with good music. If they feel honest, I think. If I feel like they're preaching to me in a manipulative way then I switch off.

Any lyrics, from any group/song, are not a message from any deitymystical power. If they're words that express what you believe is a good idea, fine. People get inspiration from shithouse walls, as well as fine literature. But they are not commands from anyone, nor were they written expressly for you.

Probably the best use of lyrics, other than accompanying the music, is to quote when they express your idea more eloquently than you can on your own. But you risk the person hearing you, not being sure if it's really your feelings.
