possibly dumb question
I was having access problems last night. The diagnostics kept saying to turn the modem on and off and that sort of thing. I kept doing that. At one point, it said I hadn't chosen a network connection. When I went to choose it there were two options: mine and somebody called 'greenbaypackers.'
So, my dumb question is: was I picking up a neighbor's separate wireless because of proximity, and no harm done...or is a neighbor hacking into my wireless and that's why it showed up in the list?
I ask because the people on one side of me: eh, they're suspicious on many levels. Shortly after they moved in the laundry facilities were beat all to hell by someone obviously trying to steal quarters. Whoever did it tried to actually tear the top off the front load washer. Now the facility is locked up and no one can use it. And Rent-A-Center banging on their door for two days straight (Rent-A-Center don't bang for hours to deliver something: they were late on payments, verified by the woman finally answering the door and saying they had made arrangements to pay already...I can't help hearing this they're like RIGHT THERE. bang bang bang. bang bang bang...for hours) And the guy walking around at 2,3,4 in the morning calling his stupid dog, who is apparently stupid enough to run away in freezing temperatures and not come back. And the fact I swear they're running a meth lab in the outbuilding. OK, that I don't know for sure but they're...they're not smart. Let's put it that way.
Anyway, so should I be worried or is that just the way the wireless works?
