On the one hand, I think we should be able to read stuff before it is passed because the bastards always sneak bad stuff in there. On the other hand, Congress is so polarized and broken that they won't be able to agree that the sky is blue, so any deal will have to be rammed through over at least some objections. And as disappointed in them as I am, I think the D's still tend to look out for labor and the middle class more than the R's do.
None of this is ideal though. It would be better if we had a Congress that put the welfare of the country first and that had representatives involved in the negotiations. |
